Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 update coming in early June

considering after how Wan Hazmer got into trouble for saying certain stuff in his personal blog.

How certain are you of this? That's quite an assertion.

I think the account was certified by the mods in GameFAQs, so perhaps. On a sidenote, yeah it's probably better to keep her messages in low profile, considering after how Wan Hazmer got into trouble for saying certain stuff in his personal blog.

Regarding the question she asked though, FFXIII happened. Game with amazing graphics but terrible everything else. Let's hope XV can change that a little.

It's more about them not being interconnected most of the time.

Just because the game sucks, it's not necessarily about the graphics. Especially because of the nuances at play that we don't know about.

It's kinda baffling how people always point to amazing graphics as a reasoning for bad game mechanics. There's a link there for sure, but graphics can be a big enabler for things to happen. For example, the volumetric lighting is what allowed the Behemoth stealth section, and the FOV and LOD is what allowed the summon to be what it is now. Heck, it's what allows open world gameplay to work.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at.

They spent as many rendering resources on a flower pot as they did on a player character.

Essentially, they created a game where the art assets would lead to either incredibly bad performance, or to a poor utilization of resources where they could have a more simplistic flower pot and a vastly more detailed player character.

I wonder when 2.0 will be released.... I assumed it would be this week but I think they will release it after the ATR so perhaps next week?

XIII was always going to be bad regardless of graphics the day Toriyama thought bringing Call of Duty game design into Final Fantasy was a good idea. :P

I still can't help but think they will have a moment at there E3 conference and be like, "You can download 2.0 right NOW."

Well, didn't Hazmer himself mention it? Didn't seem like big trouble however.

Heh, I know that. Really though, I think FFXIII is the prime example of video games with great, shiny graphics with awful story, characters, gameplay, etc. Well, it does have good music, but one get the point. Another example is FFXIV 1.0, which Kagari already covered, and Naoki Yoshida rectified.

I've heard two things about this ATR.

- What they wanted to show at E3 will be shown in this stream
- There will be something "big" for the update. It's something about gameplay

Assuming this is legit, what does that mean? That they'll show a trailer at the ATB, and nothing new at all at E3? Sounds quite weird imho, considering they have their own conference and everything.

I also find it strange in the beginning. But if they have their own conference, they may show something bigger not related to Final Fantasy XV.

I hope they have managed to implement magic... and that the game is fun to play this time around. And ffs, gambits for companions.

where did you hear about this?

And also, if they are showing what they planned for E3, does that mean they have something else in place for the E3?

Doubt it. Tabata already said they want to show new things at Gamescon I don't know why everybody is still so keen on E3. Outside of short trailer/tease I don't think will hear much about FF XV.

Someone close to Square Enix

I think it means they whill show the same thing for E3. So nothing new

However, what I said should be taken with a grain of salt. They could change at any moment.

I'm pretty sure all of these things have been confirmed, they're just not in the Duscae demo. Magic is 100% going to be in the game, and there's been talking of customizing your AI allies' approaches to battle.

The "fun to play" part, that's up to you, though.

so what you posted is all you know? or more details on those "big update" on gameplay?

I hope it's still something from their Japanese division, although many said it would be mostly focused on western games.

All of that is going to be in the final game, doubt some of that its going to be in the demo.

I know it's probably be too early to have in the demo update, but I really want to see how the flow of combat changes.

Well, it's pretty simple actually:
1. Go to quest markers
2. Go and fight Behemoth the first time and run away when you get rekt.
3. Go to Chocobo station and Wiz will tell about the cave.
4. Go to the cave and obtain the summon from there.
5. Go back and fight Behemoth, and use summon to insta kill the behemoth.
6. Go back to Cidney and pay up.

If you want to cover everything, you can try this 100% walkthrough.

I think you can skip 1-3 and go first to the cave, but level up a little first.
I personally skip the chocobo station the first time, because I randomly find the cave first.

Why would they forgo a big stage in exchange for some pre-recorded video? Makes little sense unless they want the XV news that comes out of it to stand on its own outside of the E3 rush.

I think they will release the demo update during the ATR (surprise!) and then show a brand new trailer at E3 (unless they already deconfirmed this?).

The update will roll out during the SE conference just so they can say "hey go check your ps4 after this conference there is a surprise for those with the ffxv demo"

Isn't this ATR also going to be pre-recorded?

Hopefully they put a Youtube link soon, because I can't wait for them to inevitably mess up and release the full thing too early...

Lol sounds like FFXIII and the polished rock.

If they fix the lock-on and partying mechanics, that would do a lot for me. Adding a dodge roll would be pretty spiffy too.
