Just wanted to mention that in this context "煙たがれて" doesn't mean he's sensitive to smoke, but rather he doesn't like being around people a lot. So Cors doesn't like a crowd, but despite that, he still travels with them so he can watch over 'em.
this was one of the reply on gematsu article for the Cor leonis part.
I think this makes a lot more sense than the he doesn't like smoke thing.

Yeah, it looked slightly off to me as well. Need a better shot of it.
The golden cross (similar to silver cross) on his henchmen is something though.
Fixed. Thanks.
Also, is the translation "immortal shogun" correct, for Cor? Someone mentioned "Undying General" is more apt.
Can we infer anything on Lucis' guardian? I see some weird skull image on that banner but am not sure if that reflects them or not.
The insignia on hood guy's shoulder actually looks different from the dragon on the Niflheim poster. It's the same color, but it actually looks like a wolf's head, not the sleeker, less detailed dragon silhouette in the Niflheim seal.
Could it not also be Odin. Light = thunder?
The skull-helmet reminds me of the XIV concept art of him:
I see the skull too, but I'm not really sure if that's helpful or not - the design is mostly shadowed over. Has anyone been able to get a good shot of the insignia on the back of Gladiolus' jacket? That might be a clue too.
I personally think that, considering Lucis is the Kingdom of Light, it will probably end up having Alexander as its guardian in all likelihood. The tech level would definitely support that theory.

Yeah I never noticed it till recently myself. I haven't seen the insignia but will try to take look.
That has been my thinking as well given Alexander's general appearance. I'm curious when we might get more info on summons..
Actually...I almost wonder if the Lucis insignia is meant to evoke Etro. The painting of Etro we've seen shows her with horns pointing downward like on the banner, and in the XV universe Etro is considered a death goddess. Hmmm.

If controllable airships are still in (I've heard yes, then no, then yes... so I'm confused)
Could be? That could also mean that the dragon might be a serpent instead inferring to Lindzei?
That is a possibility as well though a curious one that they would have a goddess representing them when the others appear to have their potential guardians as symbols. Unless Etro has a unique connection with Licis that we aren't aware of yet.
I doubt it. I don't think Lindzei and all the other gods are going to figure into XV. Etro is important because Noctis and Stella have powers related to death. The dragon on the Niflheim posters and insignia is definitely meant to evoke Bahamut.
I honestly think that, if the sigil of Kingdom X is referring to a mythos character, it would make little sense to make another kingdoms sigil refer to a summon instead. Either all of them refer to their respective guardians of their kingdoms (Nomura did say summons would be back in an unexpected way), or they'll refer to another series of related characters.
I feel the rivalry of the kingdoms would be better emphasized if they represent characters/entities naturally occurring together.
Unnamed Character 2 seems to be one badass mofo.
What happened to Stella's hair/face btw? Looks worse imo.
Thoughts?
Niflheim was primarily a realm of primordial ice and cold, with nine frozen rivers.
I'm really curious to see if "eyes that see expiring souls" work the same way as (XIII-2 spoiler)Serah and Yuel's Eyes of Etro, i.e. everytime they see a glimpse of the future, their life is shortened?
And also whether or not they are going to call Noctis a l'Cie, since that is essentially what he is, or if they're only bringing Etro back and nothing else.
well considering that type-0 l'cie werent the sme as FFXIII ones i dont expect them to be the same in XV, yeah there will be similar concepts but they will basically be different interpretations of them
Seems like assassins creed hood guy is the same long haired guy Noctis walks up to looking real angry in the old trailer.
Thinking maybe hes Noctis's direct rival? Maybe Idola's son since they're both rocking the white look.
I thought Noctis unwilling rival/love was Stella. Meh, I don't know.

Anything from XIII is Toriyama's interpretation of the mythos.
Nomura isn't going to take elements from XIII. This is Nomura's vision. So far what we have gathered, they are only using Etro from the mythos in this game. And even the interpretation of what Etro is and does is different in both games.

I was really excited by the initial announcement like a lot of others were but so far the playable cast is really disappointing me. Not really feeling it.
I'm feeling the opposite, actually. I'm always excited when a FF comes by that doesn't have a ditzy-over-the-top character (e.g. Eiko, Vanille, Riku, etc). So far they all seem to be grounded and just like any ordinary guys.
But to be fair we haven't really seen much of their personalities, so far I'm going off initial impressions.
Maybe a brother to Stella, maybe a son to Idola, maybe both.
Brother would work as a good Hamlet parallel. Son of Idola works the rival angle well too. With that one, maybe Stella could be engaged to him? Or not. That might be too obvious.
Speaking of Mysterious Hood Man...I think this may be the first time we've seen his whole face.
Look at the facial structure of the dude in the background; it definitely lines up with the face we've seen before, even if they clearly redesigned his cloak from the original FMV trailer that showed him fighting Noctis in the crystal chamber. Also, either his head is really tiny or that cloak is REALLY bulky. It looks kind of comical.
But yeah, if we're going on the Hamlet trajectory, he pretty much has to be Stella's brother so the story has a Laertes. He could also be her fiancee or husband, but the fact they're both blonde makes me think siblings.
Yeah, he's at 2:40 in the announcement trailer in that image and I'm positive that's the guy.
I think it's the cloak moreso than him, though maybe the angle we're seeing the image at is making it weird. Also note that he's pointing his gun at Regis, but doesn't appear to be pointing anything at the guy we think might be Regis' brother.
Yeah, it would provide that point of contention if he doesn't like Noctis for one reason or another. I'd say fiancee rather than husband if they go that route. Either one provides potential conflict.
If he is her brother, then that raises questions on why he seems really in with Niflheim and Idola, though we don't exactly know the nature of their relationships with other countries.
On a side note, was the whole meeting between Lucis and Niflheim taking place in that Lucis city or at the water city? If the latter, I'd guess the idea was for a neutral ground for the meeting. Either way it seems the whole thing was a ruse on the part of Niflheim.
I am willing to bet money that Hood Guy is the real main antagonist of the game, and Idola dies early on. If he's Stella's brother, he probably found out about what happens when one country gains control of all the crystals and decides to take them for himself. That would explain why he's shown fighting Noctis later on in the same room. It would likely also mean that he and Noctis knew each other when they were kids, and it's possible they were either friends or rivals back then, which explains why Noctis doesn't like him.
It would also add a degree of conflict for Stella as a character - she knows her brother is doing evil things, but because of their family connection he's able to manipulate her. If he's her fiancee, I can't see her putting up with that for long.
As for the meeting, I believe it was confirmed a long while back that the meeting room Idola and Regis are confronting each other in is in the Lucis clan headquarters, where the original trailer for the game took place and where Noctis gets ambushed on the front steps. We've seen gameplay footage of Team Noctbro fighting Niflheim soldiers in that very room back in the original gameplay trailer.
I'm almost certain that the old cape-guy is the king of Nilfhelm and old robe-guy is actually someone from Lucis betraying his own king. If I don't remember completely incorrectly, there is supposed to be some Yakuza/Mafia-stuff going on in XV/Lucis as well, not just these Kings and invading countries thing. So it might be that there's some small part of Lucis that want to get rid of the line of King's in the country and are in cahoots with Nilfhelm.Check the logo on the grumpy man and the soldiers. It's different from Niflheim's red dragon logo, which we can see on the soldiers attacking in Lucis.
IIRC, being able to see the expiring light of souls (or whatever) is a "power" that people who have experienced a near-death-experience get in XV's world, for some reason, and it has something to do with the Amano-illustrated God of Death (who everyone worships in XV's world). Probably something like "they get so near to the kingdom of the dead that they are influenced by it"There is that as well, though we should also factor in that there seems to be some outside force with some control over her that forces her against Noctis at some point. Perhaps a being opposed to Etro? Though I was under the impression that she and Noctis had the same powers and as such derived them from the same source.

I don't think Hood Guy is that character because although the coat is similar, I don't think the hair matches (unless they changed it).
