I will never play as awesomely as the person in the video.
It could be a short CG film or something. Though Tabata says they "get feedback on what would be the appropriate gaming experience" from those companies right after so it's most likely a game but not a full FF spin off. It might be the public tech demo with kid Noctis (though I doubt it).

I doubt it is an entirely new game or something. I do remember them saying they may make an app for the game since the cell phone is something the player will use in game.

I think what they've achieved here is extremely snappy and responsive gameplay, but with natural animations. It's tough to strike something like that.

If you check the video report footage from back from September and August, you can see that the UI is the same one as this trailer. My question : why ? We got screenshots with a different UI last monday and even that one was teased in the ATR announcement screenshot. Does that mean that this trailer is also coming from last September ? Honestly, I don't really know now...

The trailer doesn't particularly strike my interest either. But clearly many people, at the very least here on GAF, really like what this game is shaping up to be. Including many FF fans among them.
So I guess Square Enix is actually on the right track (and it pains me a little to admit this, because it goes into a very different direction than I'd have hoped). They don't hate the fans, they are just making a game they hope many people will like. I don't think they deserve criticism like this.
