What stats are people prioritizing early on, Vitality (defense), or Strength (damage)?

Offense all day. I dance around so much that doing damage is more important than tanking hits. In a perfect world I shouldn't even get hit--which is a big change of pace coming from turn based RPGs where you can't actively control whether a character is getting hit or not.

Yep, Behemoth quest is bugged. How am I supposed to RIDE THAT CHOCOBO now?

How is it bugged?

I'm only a few hours in but I'm going for damage right now. The game doesn't seem very difficult on normal and I'd rather get better at dodging than spend more time whacking on dudes.

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
There are definitely issues with how the story is being told because a lot of them seem to happen in the background. It's kinda like FFXIII (where you're just a small part against many big, more important things happening you that don't know). So far the story is clear and understandable to me. The game is still fun though, better than XII and XIII for sure.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
I didn't have any issues doing it last night. What is going wrong?
I can't get through the barricade to his lair. Apparently monsters are supposed to come out and attack you?

I tried in Chapter 3 and again, now, in Chapter 5. Maybe I just missed something?

5 or so hour in.
So far having a lot of fun with this. I'm really liking the presentation and combat, plus the main cast is great and the music is fantastic. Story is also fun so far though I think Square should have really made Kingsglaive free on youtube (or at least add some download code for it on every version of the game). It's not really some optional prequel story, it's fundamental to really understand whats going on.

Only negative aspect so far are a lot of the sidequests. Not to say that all of them are bad but there are really way too many fetch quests and I think I will start to focus more on the main story and just do the sidecontent which doesn't seem limited to "go get me this".
The issue isn't with them being fetch quest but more in how they are designed. I'm fine with finding stuff or gathering items, but put some interesting fight or variation in them please. Too often it takes longer to get to the quest location than actually doing the quest.

Thats how it is for the most part, getting
ultima weapons
require killing certain special enemies to Craft it.

Questions for anyone who cares:

- Are vehicles always restricted to driving on paved roads or do you get vehicles that let you traverse anywhere?

- At any point do females join your crew like in the previous games?

- Can you visit the city shown in Kingsglaive in-game, and is it open-world like GTA or Arkham City? Because that would be insane.

- Is the beastiary as varied as the ones in previous games, like FFX?

Mind listing some of your problems? I've only played like 1.5 hours and I already have numerous design problems with the game.

Also, why the FUCK is this not a thing in the game? Or... is it?

I can write a list of pros and cons after work today. I'm interested in seeing the endgame now with what people are saying about it.

I really wanted the story to be good though regardless of the changes. Story is very important to me in RPGs.

Ok so I still think the story is dumb and the characters are overall pretty cliche. My favorite character so far though is Prompto.

Initially really annoying but he's actually the least offensive character of the bunch. The voice actor did a good job. Everyone else, holy shit

Gameplay wise, this is a blast to play and look at. Reminds me of MGSV actually. I haven't stayed up playing something since that game.

When I played, there was just an open trail that led to his location and we followed/stalked him around a bit before actually going into his lair. Are you sure you're not trying to get in from the exit/shortcut? I don't remember monsters showing up and attacking me until I really made my way in. Hm.

So, is there anyway to progress time? I'm trying to do a Hunt but it's a night one, is there a wait option or do I have to just let time naturally progress till it turns night?

When you select a nighttime hunt the game gives you the option of changing to night.

I'm kind of concerned with the trophies and it's what has kept me from purchasing the game. It doesn't appear to have many post game trophies, such as what is in ffx remastered. Do you guys think this is the case? Or do you think there is plenty of post game content for people who like to become overly strong?

I think you over shot the entrance. .
the barracaded area is the exit, enter through the place where the trees are knocked down.. . you see a little event for it

I've just realized that I've only had one link attack in the last 20 or so hours. Is there any reason that could be? I am hitting lost of parrys and blindsides.

That's not even the problem. There's issues at the game design level that are very apparent. Trying to call me out for being biased when others are echoing the same issues isn't very becoming.

I understand. Just from watching your posts over the years I just found you had a very strong desire to see the game in a certain way and have been very vocal about changes you didn't like. However, I will wait for your review before I comment r debate anything we disagree on.

Ugh, I feel like I have to turn off the game everytime Cindy shows up on screen. I'm just gonna feel embarrassed when someone passes by me and sees that shitty character design. I had the same thoughts when it came to Quiet in MGSV. However, at least that game acknowledges the fact that she's naked, even if it was ridiculous. The fact that these young teenagers in XV conversate with her and talk amongst themselves without ever mentioning why she dresses like a glorified bimbo is just crazy and completely disconnected from any sort of reality.

I keep hoping there's some point in the story that explains why she is dressed like that.

You should have been given the option to advance time to night for a night hunt. If not, go back to where you got the hunt, cancel it, reselect and it will do it for you. Otherwise, not that I've found yet.

I've put all that aside and am judging the game on its own merits.

The game has a lot of merits and I actually love the game but I think that it's hard to look at this game especially when it's an open world action based combat game and not judge it on its faults when there are other games in the similar situation that have done it well...

Nighttime limitations no longer exist as you progress through the game. They are necessary because in start because you get level 30 enemies in the middle of the road.

Which you can easily just run past, the aggro area is exceptionally small, and enemies can't follow you fast enough, even sprinting.

Some the Monster Force Five games prize output is based off how many of those chocobo sounding plank things you win, with it topping out at 99? Is there any point to go beyond that? And you only win one prize?

How do you find this game so far compared to XII and XIII, Kagari?

Brandon F

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Also about 5 hours in and having a decent time with it, but also feel it carries a lot of foundational similarities to Dragon's Dogma and Xenoblade X(Somewhat freeform open-environments, active engagement against roaming creatures large and small, real-time combat with AI bros...). A glut of somewhat dry side quests that can feel tedious for completionists.

I also am finding this my least favorite of the three, but that is purely subjective and that may change as the combat and game progression continues as again, I have only 5 hours played. The combat is fast and highly active, but a bit shallow right now. Just pick the best weapon and parry/retreat when necessary. Great first impression but doing these hunting side quests is showing the chinks faster than I had hoped. Then again, its not like spamming auto-battle in the older games was ever really engaging either outside of bosses...

What in battle governs your Finesse rating? I get lots of A+ for Time and Offense, but usually D or C on Finesse.

Is it just about using Warp/Warp Strikes a lot?

I don't know man.
I mean yeah her character design is terrible and yeah her scenes are the only part of this game (at least so far) that I'd be embarrased to play in public.

But then again the clothes of the main cast are also silly and do also look completely out of place. So at least there is some consistency in everyones clothes looking out of place.
Like what are they going to say?:
"So what's up with Cindy's clothes?"
"I don't know man. We go hunt giant monsters dressed like we just came from a fashion show, so who cares?"

I think quiet was way worse. She was even more sexualized and is the only one that looks out of place in a world where everyone else looks like a soldier.

Does anyone else feel like they just suck at this game so far? There's a lot I don't understand yet and I'm well into Chapter 3. I just plain suck at defending (holding Square does shit all when that prompt comes up), I can never seem to find warp points in battle to regen so my characters go into Danger mode 3-4x per battle, and my HP permanently goes down in dungeons until I rest at an inn/camp, leaving Noctis at like 150hp max health going into each battle, meaning he's one-shot repeatedly.

The whole thing's really frustrating. What am I doing wrong? I'm like level 16.

Sorry Kagari but I feel you will always be biased against this game because it is not the game (or heroine) you wanted.

Now wait just a second, why can't someone be objectively critical of a game, even if its consistently so, if you have the right to be what I would describe as fanatically defensive and optimistic about it...? People are allowed to have legitimate criticisms of FFXV. Why don't you respond to any particular criticisms you don't agree with by providing your thoughts on those aspects, instead of just disregarding someone's opinions because of who they are.

About 2 hours in and havent completed chapter 1. Having a blast but the hair dithering is bothering me and walking through these large areas is a pain. I hope that's alleviated soon.

Are you using the first Sword you get fro ma Royal Tomb? IT drains your health each time you attack with it.

I've gotten used to the battle system and every battle is pretty easy now. I love it. Get Ballistic Armor equipped asap. Those Imperial Soldiers are lethal as fuck.

Also, I would train on getting better with the block/parry mechanic. You need quick reflexes so just need to train yourself a little more.

I just got the game yesterday and I'm already 22 hours in. Chapter 7. Finished like 42 sidequests.

I think I need a life.
