At chapter 2 at about 7 or so hours. Lvl 12. I don't mind being overpowered in RPG's although I don't think I generally am here.

Large groups of bison are a problem. I manage a parry sometimes (hold it right? Not just tap?) and then try and hit circle but I get flung up into the air anyways.
Chapter 9.
About how many chapters are there? One review I glanced over said the later ones could be pretty short.

I got a rush of emotion when Defiers of Fate played in the car.

FFXIII music really fits this game btw.Or maybe because these two games have such a strong association in my mind due to being to being announced together.

I really love FF.

Okay I have a lot of questions, I am sorry if some of this is really obvious but there are a few things that are really confusing to me.

These are all Kingsglaive and Chapter 1 spoilers so I am spoiler blocking it all

Does the empire actually want Luna and Noctis to get married? Why are they involved in all of this? Or is the negotations between Insomnia and the empire separate from all the marriage stuff?

The idea was to unite Regis, Luna and Noctis in Insomnia and kill them all, hence the report. It was Regis' idea to send Noctis off to Altissia, as well as Luna, to wed there, without the empire knowing. This is referenced in the very beginning of Ch2 when Cid tells Noctis that Regis saw this attack coming from a mile away.

What is the point of their marriage? Is it the whole "two kingdoms unite so therefore they are stronger together against the bad guy?" Why negotiate with the empire then?

See above. Also, it was all just to glorify the peace treaty.

Why is Noctis heading towards Luna's city to get hitched to her at the same time as Luna is going to Noctis' city? Did the King not think this through?

Luna left Insomnia in Kingsglaive to go to Altissia. That's the last Regis knew.

At the end of chapter 1, Noctis is literally overlooking the location that Luna is taking to leave Insomnia. They are literally so close to each other it is frustrating that they don't encounter one another??

When Luna is leaving Insomnia in Kingsglaive she's with that one guy. Where the hell did he go in the five minute span that she steps out of Insomnia?

He disappeared lol

These people have cell phones...why don't Noctis and Stella just call each other to coordinate locations?

Luna's cell phone is apparently Umbra.

Answers in bold, quoted in your spoiler. Kingsglaive spoilers!

1. Arydn wants Luna and Noctis to get married. It makes more sense later on, but the whole idea is to treat it as unity between the two nations (Luna's country is under Imperial hold. Luna is also basically the pope of this universe). There is a separate motive with Ardyn.
2. Regis wanted them to go to Altissia cause it isn't under Imperial hold. Regis just didn't want Noctis to be in the Crown city. He knows everything will go to shit. Luna heads to Insomnia without really telling Regis so it's a surprise to him in the movie.
3. Who knows with this one. It's just story convenience in order to keep them seperated.
4. Movie exclusive character.
5. Luna doesn't have a phone as far as we know.

The marriage is introduced by the Empire as a condition for the peace treaty. Basically it's a surface-level thing to unite the citizens. In the end this is all just a set up concocted by the empire.

The Empire took over Tenebrae years ago so on paper a marraige between Noctis of Lucis and Luna of Tenebrae would make sense.

Luna goes to Insomnia of her own will to speak with Regis. It was an unexpected thing that happens in the movie.

Yeah, this part was dumb. I hate these things in stories.

At the end of the movie she told Libertus that she would continue on alone. ie. They didn't want to include the dude in the game.

I guess you could argue she doesn't have a phone since they don't actually communicate with Luna through a phone in the game. Which is dumb.

I feel the same about this. Some of the themes fit PERFECTLY with the areas you go to. I loved playing Gapra Whitewood while traveling to the Malmalam Thicket. Final Fantasy 14's ambient tracks fit just as well which is nice. Serenity playing while walking through rain is amazingly atmospheric.

I think FF went off the rails for me when its characters became supermodels designed to be fashion statements and not actual characters themselves. They're modeled to be posed looking longingly at the audience/designer. They look like animated real dolls.

Questions:

- Is there any way to basically have unlimited sprint, other than that DLC jacket from the Deluxe Edition (Almost wish I had gotten that now lol)

- Is there a bestiary? Or at least some easy way to know what monsters are weak to? And if there is, how do you access it? I asked this before, but I don't recall if I had ever gotten an answer.

The dungeons in this game are just unbelievably fun...Just did the sword in the fall dungeon. The combat, the banter, the layout. Everything was great.

Level 30 in chapter 3. Yeah I'm moving with the story now even though I have so much to explore. Just gotta chill lmao.

I COMPLETELY fucked up the tour with Prompto from the demo. Pressed the button way too soon. Luckily I have a save not too far behind so I'm gonna reload that sometime to get a better pic (it won't be main save but oh well).

Man, I really love the post-game here. So much to do and it's fun to build up the bros so you can take down massive bosses. Combat def gets better the more you play it and get used to the nuances of it.

- Either eat food that gives you the unlimited sprint bonus or learn how to time the infinite sprint trick. When the sprint is reaching near the end press it again and Noctis will get it all back again.
- No bestiary, but there is a Libra move for Ignis. It won't work for every enemy.

-Turn on stamina bar in the settings and press L3 when it's about to run out
-No bestiary, but Ignis has a skill you can purchase early for scanning

Anyone else finding this game slowly working it's way up to being your GOTY surprisingly?

Eh, I wouldn't say surprisingly per say, because I figured I'd love a grand open world game with super flashy combat. That being said, due to the generally poor marketing, it became increasingly hard to be thoroughly hyped for this game. Like, I was relatively positive I'd love it, but I wasn't particularly excited for it. Now that I'm playing it, I know for sure that this will easily be my GOTY.
Plus Gravity Rush 2 got delayed, so it doesn't have much competition to begin with outside of like... Pokemon Sun, which was surprisingly great

I wish the would combine waitmode with the item menu... i don't like relying on ignis for libra.

Just get enhancement in the skill tree, although when I lock on I get the stats on the enemies

you're still early in the game, wait until you see the later chapters. It's fun flawed game best way I can describe it

These codes people are giving away, is it true you can unlock them in the story? Or are they exclusive to codes? Canadian Amazon only gave a car skin....

Yep, currently my 3rd behind DS3, but I'm not too far through and after every session I like it even more. Can easily see it being mine if it continues like it has.

Ah, forgot to mention I already knew about the trick. Only thing I've seen that lets me not have to worry about is the food that gives it to you, but that's a rather temporary solution. Ah well, at least I know. Perhaps I'll actually upgrade my stamina, assuming that's possible.

As for Ignis' skill, eh, not exactly what I was looking for, but I'll consider it. Thanks!

Tied for GOTY for me with Overwatch and I'm only in chapter 2 still with about 10 hours played.

It's almost there. DOOM still is my GOTY and we still got The Last Guardian to go through. So we'll see :D

Def curious how it will effect my thoughts towards end game but even still with 25 hours on chapter 7, lvl 38. I'm feeling like there isn't much that will ruin the combat, sense of discovery, and world which is a huge aspect of why it's getting up there for me.

I might try to rent the game today or in the next two days, can anybody answer how many chapters there are? And would the game be beatable in 3 to 4 days?

There's just so many missing pieces.
Everything was off-screen.

Ahh, okay. I guess it's not surprising, but it's still disappointing - especially when it sounds like there was ultimately a coherent vision this time.

I know it will probably never happen and there's probably far too much to fill in, but it sounds like the game would benefit heavily from a "director's cut" with new scenes.

I wish I didn't know that that
rock formation is Adamantoise

Looking forward to seeing how it unveils itself

Thought it'd happen when Dino sent me, but nope

Does anybody know why the game won't let me drive anymore? Manual is greyed out and I can only choose Auto. I'm in Chapter 1 still, near Golden Quay.

yes.

nowadays when playing games like U4 I get the feeling that I have played these types of games many times before.

FF15 feels like i'm playing something fresh in a long time. same feeling I felt playing demons soul's, last of us, skyrim and witcher for the first time.

of course last guardian is still out there :)

Don't know how many chapters there are, but you probably could beat it in 4 days, but you'll miss pretty much all the side stuff, I'm 15 hours in and only on chapter 3 for example.

It'll let you drive it during the day when you get to chapter 3.

I swear this is the most asked question in this thread. Ignis tells you to take it for a test drive and then says he will handle the driving from then on until you get more familiar with the area.

You get the ability to manual drive in day time again later on.

Thank you. They really did a bad job explaining that if so many people have the same question.
