Damn man, I see people picking 333AP talents many levels before me. I have no idea what 333+ Ascension perks to invest in, far too many.

Currently level 39, I'm contemplating switching all AP into magic, it seems batshit crazy strong.

From what I have used/read, these are useful.

Tech:
Tech Strike
Impulse
Trigger Happy
Enhancement

Combat:
Airstep
Light Phase
Chained Fury
Airslip
Blink
Warp Factor
Osmostrike
Warp Factor 2
Osmostrike
Static Edge

Teamwork:
Reflex
Engage
Scintilla
Venom Fang
Super Link Up
Ballistic

Explore:
Aftertaste
Happy Camping
Happier Camping

Read their descriptions. Get the cheaper ones and invest in the expensive ones which suits your playstyle and you think you will use the most.

Everyone complaining about getting fucked by enemies, only 3 times I have experienced that myself (Iron Giant 30, dungeon boss 52, dungeon boss 49) and I was really low level when I encountered them. Magitek guys are really not that hard, which makes me question if you people have been upgrading in Ascension grid? Using the better weapons? crafiting powerful spells?.. Because AFAIK, levelling up alone will not help you. You NEED those Ascension skills.

Planning on buying this the next couple of days.. Amazon says its $50 right now. Any reason why?

Is the deluxe edition worth it? It doesn't seem to be on Amazon.

Still in chapter 1 and about to head off on the ferry. Is there anything I should make sure to do before I leave?

About magic, how much should I worry about hitting teammates? How much damage is it doing % wise or is it hindering them from doing actions?

Either way not really a fan of this system.

I'm having to force myself to play this, I've put maybe 4 hours into it so far and I'm still in Ch. 1. At what point should I give up if it's still not clicking?

Is there anything you're liking about it or is everything just a huge turn off for you?

What in particular is killing it for you?

I always use magic before starting a fight with the enemies. Even if the teammates get hit by the magic, I dont think they take too much damage.

They said the roads were dangerous at night. So I'm like: "What ever, so another level 30 knight appears."

Nope. Level 43 Red Knight with a Flaming Sword crawls out of the ground on the road and wrecks my shit.

Quoting for new page.

you accidentally sold them not realizing your equipped weapons are still listed when you go to a shop and "Sell"?
I dunno, I just beat chapter 6 and didn't have a mysterious mass weapon disappearance.

The Dissidia remixes of the old school songs are all pretty dope. never heard em before.
and the end of chapter 5, gameplay-wise, was fucking awesome.

"Quadcast: Blizzara-Thundara"

Too good, man. Way too good.

I haven't sold a single weapon from chapter 4 and onward. In fact, the game won't even let you sell your equipped weapons to begin with and I had all the best ones equipped. I don't know, maybe it's a bug.

Okay I have a lot of questions, I am sorry if some of this is really obvious but there are a few things that are really confusing to me.

These are all Kingsglaive and Chapter 1 spoilers so I am spoiler blocking it all

Does the empire actually want Luna and Noctis to get married? Why are they involved in all of this? Or is the negotations between Insomnia and the empire separate from all the marriage stuff?

What is the point of their marriage? Is it the whole "two kingdoms unite so therefore they are stronger together against the bad guy?" Why negotiate with the empire then?

Why is Noctis heading towards Luna's city to get hitched to her at the same time as Luna is going to Noctis' city? Did the King not think this through?

At the end of chapter 1, Noctis is literally overlooking the location that Luna is taking to leave Insomnia. They are literally so close to each other it is frustrating that they don't encounter one another??

When Luna is leaving Insomnia in Kingsglaive she's with that one guy. Where the hell did he go in the five minute span that she steps out of Insomnia?

These people have cell phones...why don't Noctis and Stella just call each other to coordinate locations?

Either I missed something, or a lot of other people did, because I've got totally different answers:

1.
We actually don't know at the outset what the Empire's purpose is in having them marry. IMO, it was solely to get all three (Noctis, Regis, and Luna) in Insomnia during the treaty and kill them. Of course, Regis ruins this by sending Noctis away.

2.
Theoretically, it's like these things always are, a political marriage to unite the two. The reality is that it's just to suit the Empire's plan.

3.
Regis sends Noctis out of the city before the treaty signing. We don't know exactly how many days before though. As far as Noctis knows, the wedding is on (and in Chapter 1, you can hear announcements on the radio about it), and he needs to meet Luna in Altissia. Regis did not intend for Luna to come to Insomnia. That's why Crowe goes to meet Luna in Kingsglaive. She was supposed to make sure that Luna went to Altissia. The Empire ruins this plan, by having traitorous KG dude kill her (he mentions this while taunting Nyx), and Ravus prevent Luna from escaping Tenebrae.

4.
I didn't think they were in the same spot, so I don't know.

5.
At the end of the movie, she tells him she's got to do this alone, and she leaves the scene with a bunch of other refugees. When we first see her in the game, that's later on.

6.
In Chapter One, there's a bunch of destroyed/knocked over utility structures. There's even one you can find and the boys will comment on it, noting that it would have to have been something big. I figured that was the game's way of making it clear that no one was going to be getting ahold of you via cell early on.

I'm around 6 hours in and just started chapter 3 and I have loved every minute so far.

This is my first Final Fantasy and really my first Square game. I've dabbled in FFX and Kingdom Hearts but never broke past a couple hours.

I've never really appreciated or respected the FF/KH aesthetic until now. This game has just clicked for me.

Well.. I just bought the deluxe edition for store pickup on December 10th. Should give me time to finish up Dragon's Dogma. I hope they actually get it in stock..

Can Ignis learn recipes by buying meals from diners?

Currently just buying one of each ingredient I don't have, and it seems to be working okay

Not sure I'll end up filling out his recipes, but might as well get what I can. Will leave the optional fishing until I've finished the game I think, not sure it offers any reward.
Yes he can learn by eating some of the meals.

P.S Has anyone tried the highly expensive meal in Altissia. The one that costs 300k or something.

I know some people hate how magic works in this game, but I like it. Mainly because magic is STRONG as hell in this game.
I hated it in start but then loved it. It is pretty handy if we know how to utilize it.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
There's lots of ad placements in this game lol.

questions for anyone who cares:

- My main worry about this game is that it doesn't seem to have the visual flair of FFX, XII and XIII. It looks more fun to play, but the world building, character design and costume design in those games is so much more memorable and fantastical than what I'm seeing in FFXV, which looks like it mostly takes place in an Americana setting. Cars look like regular ass cars, albeit nice ones. A gas station is just a gas station. Aside from the rockstar look of the main cast, most characters seem to wear regular ass clothes. Does the game ever feature some of the more fantastical settings and costumes you find in those games?

- I've heard that the driving can be almost like Sailing in TWW. Yeah, you might like the meditative/chill aspect (and in FFXV's case, some of the endearing dialogue) but you also might find it boring. This was mostly based on the early impressions I heard though. How much driving is there in the full game?

-

Wtf.. I went into the Balouve Mines and I got F'd up by some sort of demon samurai o_O

I was only level 8 and that thing was like 54.

Well yeah, thats why there are signs outside it with pictures of monsters saying beware. AKA theres strong stuff in there.

Also it was shown in many preview videos that this area gets very strong.

1 - seems like the look they were going for. "Fantasy based in reality" was the original tag line idea for the game and was kept til it was finished. There is definitely Final Fantasy vibes in the more important characters and areas though.

2 - Yeah there is a ton of driving. After you have been to a place though you can fast travel to it or drive to it. Fast travel is only 10gil, driving takes time. But there is a skill that gives you AP for upgrades from driving certain distances. But yes it can be a bit boring. I set it to auto drive last night in the starting area while I made myself some dinner lol. It only took 6 minutes to get to the area and I could have fast traveled but I wanted the AP.

Suddenly a scene at night with Prompto. Secret dating mechanics? I can choose to tease him......

Not sure what triggered it though, weird how the good stuff seems kind of random in this game.

Edit: now I can send him to bed, if this doesn't end with kissing I'm going to be confused

This games aesthetic is all over the place with the 4 party members being typical JRPG designs in a 1950's rural America like setting with the gruff Cid(I suppose he's always gruff in FF, but he usually still has a pretty JRPG design)

Not to mention Cindy emcompassing every single southern girl stereotype there is.

But yeah overall there is still that FF aesthetic that is hard to explain.

What the hell! I just left the dungeon and all my weapons mysteriously reappeared in the inventory.

This is definitely a bug. Thank god that they came back though.

You know. Game, something tells me that you don't want me to drive at night. Not sure what it is but somethin is telling me that.

Just wrapped up Ch. 1 and I'm liking it a lot so far. The inclusion of the Kingsglaive scenes felt really weirdly placed, as if they ran out of time and just had to stuff in there. But at least it got the point across.

I know some people hate how magic works in this game, but I like it. Mainly because magic is STRONG as hell in this game.

I'm more annoyed that I have no clear indication on how I should be making spells.

A lot of times I make spells that are too strong and they just hurt my teammates, or worse affect me.

Weak spells don't do shit.

Only 3 usages base is way too little and doesn't give me time to experiment and understand the magic system. Plat demo at least gave me like 5 or 10 usages. I feel like I keep running out of my way to grab these fire/ice/lightning deposits.

While having only 3 magics to gather from simplifies things, having to use items is confusing. I don't know what I should be throwing in. I'm limited in resource and gil I don't know where to go to get certain things; I don't want to go out of my way to get them because farming for them is limited and quite frankly it's a huge waste of time.

So you can't save in dungeons. If you die during the boss, do you get sent all the way back to your previous save file (before entering)? Is there a check point?

Because I would hate to die at a boss and then having to redo a half hour of dungeon exploring. Every JRPG has save points before a boss fight darnit.

This is bad.. this game pulls me in like my early WoW and Final Fantasy 11 days. I am so hooked it's crazy. Played for 3 hours straight in a week day is something that I have not done since high school.

Feels bad for my wife.

Buy a bunch of pheonix downs. Its really hard to get a game over. I guess the most you gotta worry about is if the game crashes while in a dungeon

I believe this was asked before, but I really need to know:

Where do I get the mp3 player? Thanks in advance :)

Btw, game is sooo good. Just found an abandoned tunnel with lots of goblins. It gave me a Dragon's Dogma feeling since it was at night. Love this kind of stuff.
