And now the camera is stuck being too close to Noct. I managed to fix it by saving and then loading the game, but man these bugs are starting to get annoying. So many bugs all of sudden. I guess I shouldn't have [Chapter 6 spoilers]
done that optional forest dungeon while Iris was around. All the bugs started happening after we stopped the car to do that dungeon.

Having fun so far but the enemy lock on is pissing me right off. Let me toggle instead of holding in the targeting button and autoswitch to another target whn current is slain.

I believe this was asked before, but I really need to know:

Where do I get the mp3 player? Thanks in advance :)

Btw, game is sooo good. Just found an abandoned tunnel with lots of goblins. It gave me a Dragon's Dogma feeling since it was at night. Love this kind of stuff.

Buy it in the shop while you're in the car.

Time goes by really fast when playing this game. I've spent 10 hours playing and it really didn't feel like it. And I'm still only chapter 3.

1 - seems like the look they were going for. "Fantasy based in reality" was the original tag line idea for the game and was kept til it was finished. There is definitely Final Fantasy vibes in the more important characters and areas though.

2 - Yeah there is a ton of driving. After you have been to a place though you can fast travel to it or drive to it. Fast travel is only 10gil, driving takes time. But there is a skill that gives you AP for upgrades from driving certain distances. But yes it can be a bit boring. I set it to auto drive last night in the starting area while I made myself some dinner lol. It only took 6 minutes to get to the area and I could have fast traveled but I wanted the AP.

Ah, the auto drive feature sounds dope though. How much traveling via chocobo does the game let you do? Can you ride a chocobo from one end of the map to the other?

You can, basically you rent it for a few days. I say Chocobos are best as a supplement to car driving. It goes to places you can't go with a car.

If I'm understanding your first problem correctly, hold the lock on button and then press r3 to keep it locked on the monster without having to hold it.

If you are using type-A control, try holding R1 and then pressing R3. You should be okay as long as you don't get to far away from enemies. It's not the best toggle option but it's still better than holding R1 which really doesn't work in chaotic fights.

Non FF player here that just started XV (I played VII on the PS1 but can barely remember it) on Xbox One (game runs smooth and I don't care about the lower resolution - I think it even makes the picture more coherent)

I'm like 2 hours in and to my surprise I like it very much so far. The gameplay is fluid and the fights are cool to play and watch. I'm still overwhelmed by a lot of things so here are some (probably stupid) questions:
- can I directly control another character in my party?
- what for do I need the magic flasks? (I have two with fire but how do I use them?)
- the block prompt is confusing. Do I need to hold X when it appears or press at correct time? Are those attacks not dodgable?
- when I give commands to my party members, sometimes a B button prompt appears, sometimes not. What is this?

Some quick impressions:
- the music is loveable so far.
- the random chatter between the chars is better done than in any other game I played
- fighting feels satisfying
- story just throws you in. I guess I should watch the Movie?
- The German dub and translation is pretty good so far. Not perfect but I take it.

Whomever decided not to include Enemy Attack in the FFX album should be fired. Besaid too. At least all the final boss themes are there especially Contest of Aeons <3

Just got to Altissia. Holy shit this place is BEAUTIFUL! My eyes watered while crossing the entrance. I can't believe I'm finally here...

Edit: And damn the framerate takes a massive dip in here! Too many NPC's?

Chapter 7 again left speechless as how bad the narrative in this game is...

So Aranea leaves me on Lestallum, and she's like "oh look, problems in the power plant lol" and with a fade to black text of «A few hours later» I'm inside the plant, with someone who is clearly Gladiolus. You think you might start a new dungeon, but is just a shitty fight on a single room and then you just leave. The game probably has the worst narrative on a JRPG game, yeah as shitty SO4 was at least the narrative had a clear direction..

So my Deluxe Edition from the SE Online Store has still not arrived so I bought it from the PSN. I'm so pissed about this that I even thought about getting it pre-owned just to not give SE my money.
I really hope this doesn't affect my experience with the game because I was so hyped and now it's pretty much gone... :(

I'll answer them as best as I can.

- No

- Go to inventory and then chose the gears option. You basically equip them like a weapon. Also, the more flasks you have, the more spells you can make and store for later usage.

- For the longest time I thought you have to press the button at the right moment, but it seems that I was wrong. In my experience you have to hold the Square/X button and then push the Left Stick towards the direction that attack is coming from in order to block it and then press Circle/B to parry it.

- If you press the button when it appears Noctis does a follow up attack. It's a good way of dealing damage so try pressing it when you get the prompt.

1 - No. Though there will be a dlc for each character where you can control them
2 - I also don't know that
3 - the block button means that a 'parriable' attack is coming your way, you can hold it to block the attack and press the attack button to parry.
4 - many the techs have a followup by noctis. If your bro doesn't kill the enemy you can follow up with Noctis for more damage if you press the attack prompt on time.

I am slightly annoyed: Finished Chapter 1, which forces you to stay overnight at a hotel. This hotel suddenly gives you 2x XP. I had just rested in a camp before that, and was using the campsite after every hunt, etc, so the double XP did shit all.

WHY do they suddenly have double XP hotels? Does that mean you should never use the campsite and save up the XP? Are there other hotels that do this XP thing?

Am I missing something or are the Royal weapons not that great? I've been using the sword and the HP drain is drastic. The damage is good I guess, but doesn't seem worth the HP Drain or the fact that it seemingly doesn't hit weaknesses (even though it's a sword it doesn't count as a sword weapon for weaknesses, at least it didn't for me when I tried it against a sword weak enemy).

I also tried an elemental nulling food and while it didn't do damage my peeps still showed the status effect. But I did hit the damage cap with Blizzara on a hunt haha (9999).

That seems to be the advice being given: save your XP for hotels, not for campsites.

I think it's the only time in the game

Every place you stay that isn't a campsite gives you bonus XP, with the amount of bonus XP relevant to the cost. The 2X XP hotel costs like 10000 gil to stay there.

However, Ignis doesn't cook for you when you stay at a hotel, so you lose out on the food buffs. So it really depends on what you're doing the next day, do you want to be buffed up for easier combat or get more XP?

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I just finished chapter 9 and early in chapter 10. Thoughts on chapter 9 and one question on early chapter 10:

I thought Chapter 9 was epic beyond means. Like the entire thing was crazy and well... epic. Sadly the death of Lunafreya wasn't as impactful because I didn't knownmuch about her. The entire setpiece of Chapter 9 seemed like something Fromm assassin's Creed tho.

Also how what the hell happened to Ignis' eyes.

Thanks! The stay was for free since the story "forced" it on you, so it would have been nice to know ;) In any case, time to not camp as often.

Story spoiers!!

Ignis getting blind was one of the disappointment as it happens off-screen, but he will explain it later in Chapter 10. As for the death of Luna, yeh, she lacked the impact because of no proper development. But still the CG was beautiful and was emotional for me to some extent.

I feel like Ignis' story will be the DLC.

I also have this feeling Gladio's MIA in Chapter 7 is also a DLC.

I'm a bit annoyed with some things too like how the hell did Jared suddenly die and for me to care. I think I only experienced one cutscene with him.

Ok, I'm 9 hours in, I just started Chapter 2, Level 18. I'm loving the game but it's already EXTREMELY overwhelming. This is my first open world game, though.

I have some questions:

1. I like combat (minus the absolutely horrendous camera... Like the worst camera I've ever experienced in a game), but ummm is hard lock-on pressing R1 then R3? I've tried that a couple of times but it doesn't seem to stay put...

2. How do you dodge or roll?

3. I have a giant sword called the War Blade? Or something. In combat, RANDOMLY, sometimes Noctis will just be standing still charging up an attack for 5 seconds and then attacking. Like... Is there any way to prevent that? Because it's annoying, and I don't understand what triggers it.

4. What are the Ascension upgrades i should keep in mind?

5. How do I make my magic not suck? Like what's some good early-game crafting? Also, is the magic limit always 3?

I think that's it for now.

Thanks!

You are correct about Gladio and I feel the same applies to Ignis. Even Prompto will similarly leave the party later in the game. This all looks like they wanted to make them as DLC and cut it so they could be fleshed out more but at the expense of the story in the base game.
