Its wierd they didnt have time to make this story, but at one point they seem to start making jokes about it, chapter 8 "spoilers"
Cor: Go collect these weapons, ill look for the tombs.
Many chapters later.....
Noctis " so where is cor???"
ignis " idk, he said hes stopped going after tombs though, go figure"

How much hanging on to treasures should I do? It seems like there primary purpose is selling but what about using them to upgrade stuff?

Because I have like a hundred million treasures

Oh we got a try-hard over here :p

Good luck trying to level 1 a Coeurl...

It's level 1 mode, where you keep your abilities but not the levels.

So you can effectively use skill to outdo gears and levels.

Just like KH2 final mix.

Not a try hard, just love playing challenging games.

I just gotta say THIS GAME IS FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!

I'm 28 minutes in and completed the tutorial. I'm at Chapter 5 in the Prologue.

Those side quests feel waaaaayyyy too MMO like for my taste...
This freaking Dino guy is all the way to the dock far from the parking spot... and running back and forth is just a total disrespect of my precious time, hahaha!
Game is damn good besides that!

This shit has been present in FF forever. It's kind of expected by me at this point.

Really wish they re modernize this.

I'm really pining for more varied areas tbh. In FFXII you had the deserts, the dark jungles, the snowy mountains, the insanely gorgeous and lush Salikawood, mines, dungeons, ruined shrines, floating cities, seaside cities... here it's a desert place and a grass place with trees and a grass place with some different trees. Oh look here's a beach, that's nice. And then Altissia, and every other location is wasted =///

Can someone explain why you lose HP every time you attack an enemy?

I'm going through a heap of potions just to stay alive and I'm not even getting hit....

The thing about costumes that kinda sucks is that the default costumes offer a pretty great boon to HP while the default sans jackets offer stat increases, while the casual ones offer nothing. Which sucks.

35 hours in, haven't even really began chapter 6, I'm exploring the rest of the world and doing sidequests. Found 2 additional royal arms, one from climbing the volcano (which offered the best view in the game).

Protection against status ailments, IIRC? I use em anyway bc fashion > stats lol

You're using one of the royal weapons. They take your health when you use them. Cor does tell you this.

Confused about a couple of things. Just started Chapter 12 now, so marking with spoilers just to be safe.

Was I supposed to try to collect all the royal weapons prior to proceeding with the main story? I found an extra tomb at one point but didn't enter it because I thought the main quest would eventually lead me to it. That doesn't appear to be happening. The game leads you to believe it's required to collect them when they are first introduced, but now they seem optional?

Overall I'm loving the game. I'll agree with the sentiment that it's giving me true FF feels. Yes the story has some issues but the atmosphere and environments are just outstanding.

The only thing I'm disappointed with from a gameplay perspective is that there's not more character customization. It feels like you're leveling up the group, and not individuals with specializations. Would have loved for more options there.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

Casual outfits offer crit-rate bonuses and affinity resistances. States so in their descriptions.

I didn't notice this. Been playing with casual gear for a while.

400HP is nothing to sniff at, but I've managed this far...

Ah-ha! Feels better, thank you! :3

How do I get those white outfits with cap and everything?

Already unlocked by default. Check each character's Gear menu and at the bottom you can choose outfits.

Read my post above yours. There are bonuses for casual wear.
Edit: Glad you saw!

Just started chapter 9 -
HOOOOOLY FUCK entering Altissia was utterly dream-like! And to think I've been waiting years to explore this city in particular. Fuck the main quest for now, I'm literally gonna spend the next 30 minutes just walking around. I'm happy as shit right now!

So how is the open world of this game? Like how interesting is it to just travel around?

I love it. It's very much FF though, think of it more like X's linear areas with an integrated world map. IE: It's not fully free roam, there will be times you cannot jump off a ledge for example.

There's plenty of reason to explore: meaningful treasure and items, unique boss monsters, dungeons, Royal arms, hunts, etc...

If TW3 is more a simulation, this is more an arcade like experience.

I'd like to say TW3 is one of my favourite open worlds of all time, but FFXV's is just more fun to explore.

Haha, I'm not going to tell you my last name! What can you do? I'm not telling it to you and I'm telling you that I'm not telling it to you!

Oh many, turns out I was the "prime minister*" of the Empire! Oops!

Then they're not captured and end up at a chocobo ranch because ???. I hope there's a good reason for what happened, otherwise the encounter seems to make no sense.

*is he really? Am I misunderstanding 宰相?

Oops completely forgot about the description statements. Although they offer no number or % increases so who knows how good they are. But yeah the descriptions are noteworthy since some weapons/etc have properties beyond just stat increases.

Was messing around and
Aranea randomly joined me
while fighting some Iron Giants.

Thought that was pretty neat.

I'm liking the game, but it's not quite feeling like FF to me. It feels more of an open world sandbox game akin to GTA/Sleeping Dogs except with a more advanced fighting system and RPG elements...which is what they were going for it seems. I think the main issue is the story isn't very immersive - some heavy shit is going down and all I'm really doing is fetch/hunt quests lol.

Am i doing somethin wrong regarding summons (Ramuh)?

im during a fight, its a close call, suddenly the music starts playing and the L2 symbol shows up - i keep pressing it (tried both - keep holding and pressing it several times) but nothing happens. atleast most of the time - it worked on 2 times out of 7

it really sucks if you can't even rely on the summons

I've heard nothing but criticism coming from the 9th chapter.

I just finished Chapter 8 and I'm kind of curious (though I probably shouldn't). Let's see where this goes lol

You need to hold the button for a good 3 seconds or so. I imagine it takes all that time because... it needs to load the summon animation, I guess?

Thanks, I'll check it out! Thought it was exclusive to some people.

So if I want the DLC from the Deluxe Edition (so that I have all DLC items in-game) how do I go about obtaining that now? If I don't want to buy another game, is my only way to look for codes on sale?

It's technically not the first dungeon but they put it there on purpose.

Yeah its a little trollish lol

Just got there, killed some low level gobs and suddenly someone 1hit ko'ed me lol

Btw some glaring missing songs from IV and v. Love theme? Rydia's theme? :(

How/where do you get the map piece that gets you this dungeon ? I heard it is an item you pick in a town at the beginning of the game ? Missed it :(

Map? I dunno, I just found it exploring.

I rock the casual gear without jacket on Noctis and the default gear on the others, because that means he will be the white clothed one in a sea of black clothed people and monsters. Makes it easier to keep track of him.

huh?

He's the chancellor, but that may be a translation thing. But he doesn't say he's not going to tell you his last name. He introduces himself, the crew recognizes he is the chancellor but goes with him anyway because they don't have a choice. Ardyn then takes you on that ship to safety while the niflehiem army commandeers your car. They drop you off at the chocobo ranch so you know it's time to get yourself a chocobo if you haven't already.

Might be better off switching it to English.

I have some spare Amazon weapon codes if you like. PM me and I'll send them your way when I'm home. At work atm.

I really struggle to see how people find this part hard to understand...

The chancellor helps your party numerous I times before the realise who he is. He has his own agenda that we're not aware of yet.

There's a cutscene where he tells the emperor it would be beneficial to keep Noct alive, so he clearly has interest in him. The emperor still wants him found asap.

After Titan is defeated, the area is falling apart. Empire troops swoop in to try to capture the group, but before they can the chancellor offers them a way out.

The group are confused why he would do this, but they have no choice. He rescues them for reasons unknown to us.

The empire troops notice the group's car and impound it. Probably hoping it will impede them and make their capture easier in future

Use wait mode for the trickier hunts

Ignis' Sagefire skill, and over-powered magic managed to do a good chunk of HP off them. Still had to use a ton of potions, wish there was a shortcut for that.

I'll try these tips, thanks.

Are these the giraffe like animals?
I just used the ring to take them out after chipping away their health.

But I was surprised to see how durable they were because I was level 51 and still could take away a major chunk of health with in broadsword hit.

They're the tiger-like monsters with the really, really long whiskers

I really wanted to stay in the open world doing side quests and hunts and getting to level 50 like a lot of people here but I need to see some different freaking scenery! Level 35 now and powering through some chapters, hopefully can get back to the side stuff later.

You need to hold it down for a bit of time. Like 10 seconds before the summon triggers.
