Set your PS4 pro to RGB. I had the same issue until I did that.

Mine was set to YUV420 and nothing I did would make the cactuar in the white square visible. Once I changed to RGB it was fine.

Weird thing id I can select RGB on my TV but then when I go to video out information it says im on YUV422. Is this my TV not able to handle it?

Just finished chapter 13.... it was as bad as warned

My Noctis is level 47, should that be ok for the last chapter? Chapter 13 boss kind of wiped out my whole squad, but their patterns were pretty easy so Noctis was able to chip away
You'll be fine. The boss you just faced is far harder than anything required in Chapter 14.

Guys I dont know. I am trying to ignore my disappointment with the game i am trying to understand the reasoning behind these choices and be patient with what the game has in store for me but, I can no longer accept it.

The world they have created is just not interesting enough. Massive lands where the only things you see around are rest areas gas stations and farms.

Its bland, feels not interesting enough to explore. It doesnt even make much sense as a world either. Not even a village around just endless roads and gas stations and dungeons and just a couple of towns.

I am not trying to shit on the game but i was expecting a better world, more interesting one. To make me want to explore it. I am looking at these fields in FFXV and i just dont feel the urge to explore. Its feels... dead.

I am still on Chapter 12 and i put down the controler because it took me like 3 hours to go from chapter 8 to 12... its laughable really, the campaign sounds like a bad joke, something i would never have believed if someone told me that this is it.

What can i say, if the final chapters are godlike then i can somehow fathom it. But i highly doubt it.

This is probably the disappointement of the year for me so far.

I am not here to shitpost this is how i feel really...

Mate, if you read the thread you'd know that there are a ton of you right there with you on all of this. There's a huge amount of disappointment around, tempered by the fact that we knew this game was struggling in development hell.

And honestly, chapter 13 is what most people consider the worst part of the game, so... brace yourself.

wow chapter 9...

Wow positive or wow negative?

That seems to make no difference. I set it to 2160 RGP (automatic select YUV422). Black level is low, brightness around 48-51. HDR standard mode. I just cant' get that white cactuar too appear.

From what I can tell there is no difference with RGP and YUV on my screen.

Finished Chapter 13, it was like getting out of purgatory.

I disagree with the notion that second half plot is much better, still chomping chunks of plot like nothing else. Everything feels rushed, I mean it has been better, but not by much.

Explaining the whole downfall of the empire throught documents, Bahamut being basically a lore book, the emperor speech on his death ("lol wanna conquer wolrd yadda, yadda")

Is it just me or is Chocobo dismounting super unresponsive? It doesn't help that you can't seem to pick up anything while riding one.

Man, Dave is actually badass as fuck. He's pretty much more important than the king for the people of Lucis who live beyond the wall.

Some "Dave" guy, alright.

I think one of my sidequests bugged out. I'm trying to complete the quest "Almost Out of Hope," where you have to rescue someone who's calling for help. The quest area is a large, wooded area, and I've run around it for about 20 minutes, nobody to save. I've killed all the enemies multiple times, still no person. Anyone else had this problem?

Managed to collect all the Royal Arms. That
Castle
dungeon was by far the hardest thing I encountered in the game. Some of the battles were simply ridiculous.

Also I wonder why Square Enix put a trophy for
defeating Ifrit on normal difficulty
. He was easy and not even the main final boss. Just feels weird.

So, outside the four protagonists, not one major character in this game is going to be developed huh.

I'm on Chapter 13, so you might know who I'm referring to.

Wow, at some point in chapter 13, Yoko Shimomura just went with a very obvious
Parasite Eve
homage. Anybody else notice that? Nice, at least I can count on her to keep me entertained.

Man, why did they have to scrap the original invasion plan we've seen from past trailers? I think it would've been more interesting to have some of the game set within Lucis and then go out of the open world, ala FF VII. This open world stuff is just so bland, but I do like the characters and the combat, but with the narrative... I can see why people would have gripes with the story, because it isn't cohesive and there's supplemental material outside of the game that's connected.

You do have HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color enabled for that HDMI input, right?

All of my settings on the PS4 Pro are set to automatic (I had it on YUV420 before)

On the tv, my black level is set to "low". OLED light is 100 and contrast is 100, tv brightness is 50.

With things set up like this, I can see the cactuar perfectly w/ the in-game brightness set to 50

edit - One other thing.. are you going through a receiver or direct to the TV?

lastly, make sure your color gamut for HDR Standard (in expert controls) is set to 'normal'

I'm loving the
Underwater Temple
in Chapter 7. Feels like a traditional dungeon with good art design, like the ones in older titles.

If only the story presentation was better. It's inconceivable how the potential is wasted like this.

condensing a trilogy and reworking the script added to this mess, Nomura got robbed and Tabby couldn't even accomplish whatever vision he had for the game. The potential wasted is just damn shame:

I won't bother reposting my full thoughts on the game since it's loaded with spoilers, and it's 2,800+ words anyways, so I doubt most people will really want to read it. But if you are interested, the post is here.

What is considered phasing? Just defending or dodging? Warping? Warp attack? I ask because of the thieves way accessory. Does it make warping in combat cost less mp?

Any reason why they scrapped Nomura's ideas in the first place? And I heard Nomura isn't in the ending credits at all? Did he get the Konami/Kohima treatment or something?

Urhhh this game...just so brilliant!!

In chapter 6 now! The car music, the
forest
dungeon, the character interactions. Some of the other fights and plot beats atm. This is the FF i've missed! Just so hooked i can't stop playing!!

So... I don't know guys, I'm really not feeling it, and I really wanted to like this, being this my first Final Fantasy game and how it was supposed to be "a final fantasy for first timers and fans".

After spending my first 10-11 hours I just can't any motivation to keep going. First of all, I just can't get into the combat system, sure I can pull some cool looking moves here and there but most of time it's just chaotic and unwieldly, and the camera goes to shit every time I fight more than a couple of enemies, combine that with the fact that the enemy telegraphing is really poor also.

The side quests and hunts became a chore really quickly just like the long drives you have to take to get anywhere. I guess it's cool that you can listen to the soundtrack of previous games, but since this is my first FF game, nostalgia is not really a factor for me, I was expecting some more interaction between my party during this trips but most of the time they are just dead silent. At least you get some beautiful vistas

And then there is the main story, I'm not engaged by it. Not At all.

Only good thing for me right now are some of the production values, graphics and original music are excellent. But nowhere near enough to keep me interested. Maybe I should take a break.

that puzzling face
If we're limited to exploring only the middle-right side of this map... that's a huge letdown to me. I know at some point the story
moves to Altissia
, so I'm currently praying that opens up a new continent to explore and all my worries will dissipate. But I'm terrified I've already seen 80% of the "world" and Square simply don't have what it takes these days. And it's not like they can say "Sure, there's not much to explore, but we've filled what's there with high quality side content!"

I'm not sure how to respond without getting into spoiler territory, but I've been typing up a post for the spoiler thread on more in-depth thoughts on the open world of FFXV as it were, for better or worse. Probably in a day or two.

I'm having trouble with
Deadeye
. I know you have to
explode the barrels
but I can't figure out how to target them with my spell. I'm using the B controls template. Help

When you do the Libra scan on ememies, what's that icon on the very right of their strengths/weaknesses? There's a fire, ice, lightning, then something

Chapter 13 is stooooooopid. It'd be OK-ish in another game but it's just wtf in this.

I can't imagine any genre of game in 2016 where that level would be deemed acceptable for a high-budget, AAA production. It's nowhere near OK.

The amount of design sins it commits is insane
-Telling important story beats through books on a table
-Entire thing is small corridors but your camera and battle system can't handle that
-Stealth that would be considered poor / basic 15 years ago (your only options are a basic 'hide in gap in wall' or 'keep dodging emeny until it dies'
-Awful pacing
-Stripping the character of his powers and thereby removing the one thing the game does semi-decently (the battle system)
-The level does not feel at all like a real place or facility, it's like something out of the PS2 gen in that regard, it's clearly just a 'level'
-An enemy that pursues you through the second half of the level but can't go through doors, so it just stands at doors going through its attack animations
-Not telling you said enemy is not defeatable, so you do what i did and spend 30 minutes trying to defeat it
-Having QTE jumpscares everywhere
-Making it so that type C users can't complete said QTEs
-Killing the presumptive big bad (the emperor) off screen and then saying he was the demon, "fuck it that'll do"
-The ludicrous and meaningless prompto revelation

It's insane how bad it is. It wouldn't fly in any game. GAF hates Ubisoft, and I'm just wondering how GAF would react if this level was in an ubisoft game. There would be demands for refunds, I'm sure of it.

EDIT: Sorry that my spoiler tags were broken there for a second, fixed as soon as I could.

Anyone have a combat gameplay guide? I feel like my character attacks w/e it wants and the dodge button doesn't work.. getting frustrating.

Guys i feel like my on field camera has permanently zomed in. Is there any way ti change this or am I imagining things? i swear i is not usually this close to noct!

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Any reason why they scrapped Nomura's ideas in the first place?

Because Nomura was no longer on the project, neither was Nojima, and presumably because what Nomura wanted was very grand and ambitious, but the higher ups at SE were not going to sign off on it under any circumstances after the troubles with the franchise previously(even though a lot of those issues were the higher ups fault to begin with)

So Nomura and his core staff get ejected from the project and Tabata gets promoted with the expectation that the release date will be late 2016 and there is no room for discussion on that.

So begins Tabata's break neck attempt to rewrite the entire game, characters and scenario to push something out as quickly as he could in the time allotted, even cutting out huge swaths of what he intended to originally be in the game in movies, anime and other external material just to save on time and costs.

And even then, at the end he only got a portion of what he wanted to get into the game himself.

34 hours in at chapter
6

Currently level 46

I don't understand some of the hate for the game here.

I don't think the narrative is that bad and the world building has been pretty awesome.

Still loving the combat system. It's the reason why I still like doing all the side content.
