Not enjoying combat against ranged units. I feel like they've all got some damage aura around them or something. Fought some level 17 giant mechs, and just took arbitrary damage over time for being near them without them needing to even shoot at me.
Like if Dark Souls threw some dudes at you with machine guns. Was enjoying reading the attacks of enemies and dodging parrying, being able to take no damage during a fight.
I'm only starting Chapter 13 but my feelings on the game cratered hard after the
Leviathan
and arriving at Altissia. Getting railroaded (lol) feels like a major letdown after the fantastic Leide and Duscae areas. The story pacing is all jacked, too; in fact I feel like it's even worse than the first half. Does this improve at all before the finale? Feels like it's running out of time to turn it around.
Yo, just a quick question. Bought the regular digital edition and that one came with the Masamune DLC weapon.
Since I don't really like using DLC weapons and such I didn't actually install it, yet I still have it in my inventory in the game. How'd that happen? The DLC under addons doesn't show up as installed either.
It's a minor thing, but my OCD always makes me freak out a bit with stuff like that, like my PS4 is just gonna explode the next time I start up the game or some shit.
Ok wtf is this the game feels like its main quest is comprised by super short chapters. I have literally gone from chapter 8 to 12 in a mere 3 hours time...
This is very disappointing and whatever comparison with previous final fantasy campaigns is a complete joke.
was a bit longer. Didn't beat the game yet, but they're VERY short and weird.
I got the feeling the game is going like "let's throw all the remaining summons and royal weapons at you asap because the only thing that matters now is the ending"
Reached Chapter 13 BTW. Let's see what's so bad about it.
Honestly the decision to make Kingsglaive into its own film really ruined this games storytelling. It really relies on you to watch that film to give a shit about half these characters.
Watched Kingsgglaive before starting FFXV, and after 40 hours I don't feel like it told me much at all that wasn't evident from playing the game. Certainly nothing critical to my enjoyment or understanding of the story.

I'm going to blame the amount of side quests that are made available to you. I mean I went from Chapter 3 yesterday morning to Chapter 7 this morning because I was a little more than 10 levels over the recommended level for the main quests.
I'm still really enjoying the game though, but that's also because I like side quests and being overlevelled to an extent
I like how all of GAF is melting down now that everyone has time to play the game and is reaching the final chapters...Lightning, her redemption is upon us!
I'm really hoping Chapter 14, 15 and the ending blow my freaking mind.

Is there an easier way to get a sturdy helixhorn than farming the horse quest? I know I asked this question yesterday and someone said chapter 7. Is it guaranteed to get it there?
Jared was that old man that was with the young boy that Noctis talked to before you went to the base. He was a friend of the royal family and Gladio + Iris. That's why the party was broken up about him being killed, but they handled the scene and the prior scene poorly and didn't give you, the player, a chance to care about him

They were sneaky about it.. they didn't announce the end of chapter 14.. they just ushered you to the final boss fight w/ Ardyn. That fight technically happens in Chapter 15
edit -
Maybe you're right.. I just checked the guide.. and it only lists up through chapter 14.. pretty confusing labeling of chapters..
finished the Titan battle and am looking for Ramuh.
I'm looking at the map screen and I'm worried I've seen the vast majority of the "open world" already. Don't get me wrong, the Duscae area and everything surrounding it is gorgeous, but the only parts left on the map are a volcano to the south west, and a small section to the north west. For a Final Fantasy game, this would be tiny if that's all there is to the explorable locations. Obviously it's better than XIII, but compared to the older games where you had entire worlds, and compared to modern contemporaries like the Witcher 3... definitely not good enough for a AAA RPG imo. It would be like if Skyrim was just Falkreath and Whiterun, or the Witcher 3 was just Velen and Novigrad. Nice for what's there, but not nearly enough.
If we're limited to exploring only the middle-right side of this map... that's a huge letdown to me. I know at some point the story
moves to Altissia
, so I'm currently praying that opens up a new continent to explore and all my worries will dissipate. But I'm terrified I've already seen 80% of the "world" and Square simply don't have what it takes these days. And it's not like they can say "Sure, there's not much to explore, but we've filled what's there with high quality side content!"
Does the game expects you to constantly get rid of flask contents and refill them with element sources? I'm very hesitant of discarding them. It goes against my gaming instinct to get rid of the shot I've collected.

Unfortunately your hunch turns out to be right. That is basically all of the open world you will be able to explore in the game. I was very disappointed too when I found out. But Lucis is still very big and there are lots of places you haven't discovered yet. Some really pretty and cool ones like Cape Caim, Ravatogh and the swamplands are still ahead of you.

Just finished chapter 13.... it was as bad as warned
My Noctis is level 47, should that be ok for the last chapter? Chapter 13 boss kind of wiped out my whole squad, but their patterns were pretty easy so Noctis was able to chip away

One hour in, chapter 13 is just hilarious. I'm not even mad.
Square Enix president to his team: "Hey guys, I know the development of FFXV has been hard on all of you, but what if you also made the worst Resident Evil game ever and included it as a chapter? Okay, thanks."

On loading times - yes, Pro with an SSD makes this painless. Return to car is 2-3 sec, fast travel is under 15 sec, loading the save under 30 sec (I think it's actually under 20). Basically you can enjoy the game without worrying about loading, period. I don't have a regular PS4 to compare anymore but judging by this thread the difference is significant.
Where is Bandersnatch? I am about level 20 and killed that big lvl 29 scorpion at lvl 19. How difficult is Bandersnatch and how much EXP does he give? Good fight? Scorpion was tough but once I got his attack pattern down he wasn't too bad with judicial use of regular potions.
Minor nitpick so far - lack of monster compendium is a huge downside, once you scan an enemy you shouldn't have to scan at latter points but I guess at same time some skills depend on that. Picking up plant or mining nodes - why the hell do they make us click it 3 times? Combat camera is just terrible in close quarters and behind trees and such.
That skill that lets you defend without MP points is a must in addition to regroup and nuking everything down with magic (those nodes that give you 30 extra power plus Noctis regular outfit without jacket work very well together for magic. That outfit gives like 30-40 magic attack which at least by Ch3 I have no equivalent of right now.
