For the people who already beat the game:

I think I hit the point of no return. I am at the part
where you rescue Prompto from his prison and he tells you he's a MT. I really thought I would be able to go back and do more quests but doesn't seem like it. Is this the point of no return and not going back to the main world to do more side quests?

Don't worry. Keep going. You can go back to the open world.

Thanks to Umbra, there's never a point of no return.

No, you can go back soon enough.

Do you ever end up getting to go to the
meteor
in Duscae?

The quest to go check it out was such a cocktease. :|

Does anyone know how to summon
others besides ramuh? It seems to only give me ramuh. I got leviathan once and maybe shiva but never titan.

So prompto just became one of my fav FF characters ever. In chapter 8. I hope to god you guys slept at the motel on the way to
caem
when he says it's gonna get dark so you should sleep there!

Prompto showed real vulnerability and what a touching scene it was between noct and him!! Why the hell was this an optional scene :( !!! Srsly never fast travel in this game!

After all that nonsense regarding
jared
who no one remembers moments like these elevate the game high up

Yes. In fact it should be obvious to you by now.
it's not obvious at all, it's just dumb. I'm curious about reading an explanation on the matter though.
the writing has been comically bad since the first 3 hours or something, so to be honest I wasn't even counting on the game giving me any form of explanation regarding those issues.

I'm on chapter Chapter 6 and I said "ok I'm going to finish every side quest and every hunt and then bank my xp for 2x after all of it."

Well I'm 200,000xp in and I'm still finishing quests hahaha, I can't wait to bank it at the resort.

Edit: 90k gil too

Finished Chapter 13, it was like getting out of purgatory.

I disagree with the notion that second half plot is much better, still chomping chunks of plot like nothing else. Everything feels rushed, I mean it has been better, but not by much.

Explaining the whole downfall of the empire throught documents, Bahamut being basically a lore book, the emperor speech on his death ("lol wanna conquer wolrd yadda, yadda")
I'd much rather have MGSV audio logs.
The Empire role and it's downfall is a big joke ingame. It's very disappointing.

I am at chapter 8. I have a question on how to proceed.
The days are getting incredibly short and the gameplay loop is more of a pita as a result. Is this some sort of please move on mechanic at work or do the hours get shorter as you move on. Should I stay or should I go is my question. Can I do all those quests in Duscae plus other region later with less hassle?

Yes.

Summons are random. You cannot control when and who helps you.

actually there are attributes that dictate who will come.

For Titan, a party member must be KO'd.
For Ramuh, it had to do with the duration of the fight.
For Leviathan, Noctis must be in danger and water must be nearby
For Shiva, its all of the above. basically you have to be really fucked and near water.

otherwise its all RNG.

It's actually pretty really obvious...
It's very clear Ardyn, the guy helping you, has a very different agenda from the Empire. So while the Empire is hunting you down, he is covering up for you and helping you out.

My god... has anyone here tried turning off the HUD entirely? I've had it off since last night and it actually really makes it feel like an adventure. I find I've noticed even moreso just how gorgeous the world is and even in combat the enemies are a lot of fun to fight (though if you fight some really hard enemies you might want to bring back the health). If ya get lost you just pull up the map and since Ignis can do all of the driving you can just auto drive everywhere.

It's truly fantastic.

Also

BY WHAT UNGODLY MEANS CAN YOU KILL COEURLS?? I'm a level 31 and I came across some Level 34 Coeurls which promptly wiped the floor with me using some kind of insta-kill! It's some next level bullshit.

Good catch. However it's not true for Shiva. She has appeared two times in my game. One in the volcano (where there's zero water bodies) and only Noctis was in danger. The other tone was in Insomnia. Also no water and also only Noctis in danger).

You might be correct on the rest, though.

I'd advise everyone to eventually go after Ignis' Regenerate skill in the Teamwork grid. Total lifesaver, and makes Royal Arm a little less annoying. Hell, a lot of the things in Teamwork is just a bunch of QoL improvements that make your friends more effective.

Also - I hate how the game doesn't explain ANYTHING in regards to story. I'm halfway through chapter 3 and so many times a name/location/object gets dropped in a conversation and I'm like "am I supposed to know what this means?". So weird.

Can you give an example from this early into the game? I'm still on Chapter 2, but so far, I feel like most things are explained. Even things I never expected them to talk about at all, like the hunters making a living out of escorting people during the night, for when they absolutely need to go out at night and need protection against daemons. I thought it would just be "these guys hunt things for money", and I was ready to accept it, because it's an RPG and hunting quests are fun. Dave is also coordinating the safe outposts that the Oracle tended to, now that she's (presumed) dead. And reassures people that it happened before, in the period between Sylva's death and Luna's ascension as the new Oracle, so they don't have to worry about not being protected anymore.

That's not to say there aren't issues, but "doesn't explain ANYTHING" hasn't been true to my experience at all.

I only have the minimap and button prompts off, but yeah, it already makes a big difference to me. I'm sure a lot of people don't have that issue, but I always end up playing looking at the minimap instead of the game. So having such a quick map button on R3, I can play without it with no issues at all. Loving it.

I was only going by what other sites have said lol :p
Maybe its random then, like tabata said :S

Finished it.

Can't say I was as impressed by the ending as some people here, I mean it was...ok, I guess? Dosn't fix the whole mess that is the plot, and is not specially satisfying. IMO.

I will make a full post detailing my full review of the thing. If I should give it a score it would be a 7 or 7.5.

I spammed dual/quadcast Fira (I think) while chugging potions to beat them. Just focus on spamming techs and keeping everyone alive between casts.

I'm on chapter 3, currently on the "The sword in the waterfall" quest and I'm baffled by how on earth you're meant to get to the waterfall. I've tried from every angle but I'm either met with unpassable water or invisible walls.

How the hell do I get to it?

Yeah, they hit very hard. You met them at a dead end canyon? It sucks, cause you have no space to maneuver and they're quick as lightning.

I had trouble killing coeurls even when my level was higher.

You have to be extra careful to not warp into them when their whiskers is brimming with lightning.

Prompto's techniques that weaken enemies should come in hand.

Magic packs a punch too, iirc they're weak to fire.

When using magic, try to use Ignis's Regroup first, so your party is away from the magic when you cast it.

Oh yeah, speaking of the Royal Arms, what a big disappointment they were. The movesets are sooooooooo limited. Having unique animations is certainly cool, but there's just not enough of them. They're OP as fuck, but boring. Waste of a slot, imo. I'll keep one equipped for a while when I first get it in order to look at the cool moves, but then I swap for something more fun.

Only have 2 so far, though. Maybe it gets better. At least the shuriken must have the same moveset as the Platinum Demo one, right?

I had the same issue. Back up and start from a little higher up.

There's a small, narrow path on the right side of the falls that goes up a hill leading to the entrance of the dungeon. Hard to see the path at night, use your map to spot it out.

My whole problem with Ardyn is that Kingsglaive established him as the Supreme Chancellor of Nifelheim. This is clearly an important person. But no one in the party fucking recognizes him? Like... how is this shit believable?

how do people bank so much exp? I am usually screwed if I go out at night with the powerful monsters, so I sleep somewhere. Do you just kinda wait around until it becomes daytime and never sleep?

At level 36 (which I am) I can beat every night enemy they throw at me.

But honestly even so it's really easy to run away from stuff.

I killed my first Level 34 Couerl in Chapter 2 just fine. The axe made fast enough work of it. I was Level 17 or so.

A Couerl alone is waaaay easier than more than one, though. You can basically just get behind it and keep wailing without it even doing much to you.

When there's more than one you can't just do that because the other one is running around doing it's damaging AoE. The insta kill move is devestating to the AI too. While you can be smart enough to not run at it while they sit down, the AI blunder in like fools.

Either way, I recommend tanking up with defence food and getting some Phoenix Downs just in case your team mates go full retard. Also make sure you just watch out yourself that you don't run into them while they're charging up the insta-kill.

It's certainly a stretch, but he did say he was honored the king of Lucis recognized him. Maybe he's not much of a public face. His name is well known, but his face not as much.

People outside of Insomnia don't seem to recognize their own prince either, but they do know about him. If he went around telling people he's Captain Basch fon Ronsenburg of Dalmasca! Noctis Lucis Caelum, they'd know he's the prince.

Basch lives!
