A Couerl alone is waaaay easier than more than one, though. You can basically just get behind it and keep wailing without it even doing much to you.

When there's more than one you can't just do that because the other one is running around doing it's damaging AoE. The insta kill move is devestating to the AI too. While you can be smart enough to not run at it while they sit down, the AI blunder in like fools.

Either way, I recommend tanking up with defence food and getting some Phoenix Downs just in case your team mates go full retard. Also make sure you just watch out yourself that you don't run into them while they're charging up the insta-kill.

Ahh, I see. Cool, thanks.

I'm on chapter 3, currently on the "The sword in the waterfall" quest and I'm baffled by how on earth you're meant to get to the waterfall. I've tried from every angle but I'm either met with unpassable water or invisible walls.

How the hell do I get to it?

If you're talking about from the top there are stairs on the bridge on the left side coming from the rest area that you use to get down. ;o

It's actually pretty really obvious...
It's very clear Ardyn, the guy helping you, has a very different agenda from the Empire. So while the Empire is hunting you down, he is covering up for you and helping you out.
again, from what I've seen I'd just replace 'obvious' with 'dumb'.
because yes, that much was clear but ''Ardyn covering up everything you do'' while the rest of the people in the Empire don't notice a single thing or don't care is a very simple and asinine explanation that doesn't make much sense.
it's kind of hilarious how you are randomly attacked by them and then in the next cutscene you're simply strolling between them like if nothing ever happened.

If you want easy EXP during the story, create and spam Expericast spells on enemies your level. Along with an exp buff food (Wiz sells a meal after doing a few easy quests for him). Then sleep at a 2x or more multiplier Hotel.

I love just riding around Duscae in the rain and listening to the FF9 world map theme. So glad they put that feature in.

My Pro is noisy as hell when playing this. Anyone else have this issue?

I have an OG PS4 and this game makes the system the loudest it's ever been since MGS5. It calms down from time to time though but definitely louder than Witcher 3 or Uncharted 4 for me.

Damn, slept at the 2x inn with 162k XP. Went from level 34 to level 53 lol.

I think I may just be a tad over-levelled for chapter 3.

My whole problem with Ardyn is that Kingsglaive established him as the Supreme Chancellor of Nifelheim. This is clearly an important person. But no one in the party fucking recognizes him? Like... how is this shit believable?

Ignis knew about the empire chancellor, but hadn't met him so he didn't know who he actually was. There's a conversation after Ardyn introduces himself as Ardyn Izunia that sort of implies that Ignis found him suspicious but that it didn't cross his mind that a person like that would be a chancellor in any empire.

Just in case this is considered a spoiler.

There are several factions within the Empire. If a group of soldiers is NOT hunting you down, it's because they are with the faction that's aiding you.

Overleveled just for Chapter 3? With that level you might not face any opposition in the rest of the story mode!

actually there are attributes that dictate who will come.

For Titan, a party member must be KO'd.
For Ramuh, it had to do with the duration of the fight.
For Leviathan, Noctis must be in danger and water must be nearby
For Shiva, its all of the above. basically you have to be really fucked and near water.

otherwise its all RNG.
I got Leviathan in Insomnia. I don't thing that's true.

So to get the (Trophy/Achievement spoilers)
Tortoise Toppler achievement you only have to start the hunt and quit out or something? Or did I mishear?

If you saw someone who looked like Yuji Naka, you'd probably assume it was someone who looked like Yuji Naka rather than Yuji Naka, because what are the chances of running into Yuji Naka.

In my case I went up to him and asked "are you Yuji Naka?"

Turns out it was Yuji Naka

I have no idea where I was going with this

Oops. xD

I'm just surprised it doesn't seem to lock side quests behind chapters. It just lets you go at everything, even though it'll massively over-level you.

Yeah I was expecting it to do it eventually, and it did lock me out of some areas but that was after 10 hours.

I now have a couple of missions were I'm supposed to talk to two dinner guys, those who give out hunts etc. But when I talk to them nothing happens. One of the missions is a level 50 mission, The Professor's Protege - Griffon: Obtain a Griffon Feather.

Help!?

Kill the the hunt that they give you (even if you have alreay done it) it should be griffin or something.

You have to pick it out like regular and everything, I was stuck too.

Should I play using "wait" or "active"? The pausing in "wait" mode seems quite disruptive, but I don't get how you are supposed to apply strategy, use libra and so on with "active".

Chapter 14. Reached
Imsomnia and got my ass kicked by a level 72 mob (not after getting to summon Leviathan, though, so you don't need to be close to water, apparently).

I've been playing this for 7 hours straight, so tired lol. I'll leave the ending for tomorrow, I guess.

EDIT: did they explain the
always night phenomenon stuff?
I totally missed if so. I mean, Ignis kind of touches on the subject, but that's it.

It's amazing how many people are divided on this.. I fucking loved it myself.. but I guess a lot of people found it frustrating.

Frustrating?

I'll I had to do was press square for five minutes, I almost got fell asleep I couple of times.

There's a couple of documents in
Hammerhead
, that kinda explains it.

Yes...more documents...I know.

Loving this game, but three things are really starting to aggravate me now that fights are becoming more difficult.

Cpu AI is trash. They stand around, barely attack and just get mauled by the enemies and die.

After they die, the other npc's take 10-15 seconds to raise them, if at all. When I try to find them to raise them, it's so difficult to see where they're at when you have like 10 enemies all over you.

When you die in battle, the npc doesn't know how to heal you. If they do heal you, it's about half a minute after you originally fell.

Where is the permanent lock-on in battles? This system is beyond retarded and makes fights more difficult than it should be because you can't lock one down and kill them one at a time. The target system goes berserk and randomly targets enemies.

How did all this bs ever make it past quality control??

Yes, they did. Some sort of micro particles that are filling the atmosphere. They come from Demons and the death they cause.

My camera is jammed super close to noct's back now...any ideas?

I've had glitches like that including it being super zoomed out in and out of combat.

You'll probably have to reload your save, or get in the Regalia.

Pretty much anything to trigger a screen transition.

I couldn't believe they had such epic scene in an open world RPG. Blows me away. To each their own but that whole chapter 9 was super intense and interesting to me.

R1 + R3 is permalock but even that is pretty unreliable.

I just ran straight by that enemy.

Oh yeah, speaking of the Royal Arms, what a big disappointment they were. The movesets are sooooooooo limited. Having unique animations is certainly cool, but there's just not enough of them. They're OP as fuck, but boring. Waste of a slot, imo. I'll keep one equipped for a while when I first get it in order to look at the cool moves, but then I swap for something more fun.

Only have 2 so far, though. Maybe it gets better. At least the shuriken must have the same moveset as the Platinum Demo one, right?

About that...

Shuriken is utter shit imo. It whiffs all the fucking time.

Oops. xD

Levels don't mean that much though. I think there is something going on with the monsters. Some monsters that were 10 levels higher were a piece of cake but me at level 70 still has issues with level 34 Coeurls.

Best thing I can recommend is once you reach the place with the 10,000 Gil Justice Monsters V machine, play it and reach 99 chests. Then sell the reward for 500,000 Gil. That will cover all your expenses for a while.

You can repeat this for more gil or you can use the reward (Wind-Up Lord Vexxos) as a powerful elemancy catalyst. Turns the 3 elements into their highest spell forms, Flare, Freeze etc and gives you 56 or so copies of them to use. Crazy stuff.

Uh so I just caught a fish and Gladiolus just quipped "Puny, just like yours."

Am I misinterpreting or...

Look at Noctis' fish, is that a small fish? If it's small, something else must be small. I guarantee you there's no problem. I guarantee.
