Best thing I can recommend is once you reach the place with the 10,000 Gil Justice Monsters V machine, play it and reach 99 chests. Then sell the reward for 500,000 Gil. That will cover all your expenses for a while.

You can repeat this for more gil or you can use the reward (Wind-Up Lord Vexxos) as a powerful elemancy catalyst. Turns the 3 elements into their highest spell forms, Flare, Freeze etc and gives you 56 or so copies of them to use. Crazy stuff.

Where is this magical machine?!?

And also, when I played that game it was impossible to lose, so I just quit and got nothing. Is it safe to quit once you hit 99 chests? Or is it possible / feasible to lose on that machine?

Loving this game, but three things are really starting to aggravate me now that fights are becoming more difficult.

Cpu AI is trash. They stand around, barely attack and just get mauled by the enemies and die.

After they die, the other npc's take 10-15 seconds to raise them, if at all. When I try to find them to raise them, it's so difficult to see where they're at when you have like 10 enemies all over you.

When you die in battle, the npc doesn't know how to heal you. If they do heal you, it's about half a minute after you originally fell.

Where is the permanent lock-on in battles? This system is beyond retarded and makes fights more difficult than it should be because you can't lock one down and kill them one at a time. The target system goes berserk and randomly targets enemies.

How did all this bs ever make it past quality control??

- AI actually isn't that bad unless you are super underleveled, Use more techniques and learn to run and raise your allies from danger.

- never had a real problem with finding allies, but if this is a serious issue for you, maybe wait mode is a better choice.

- NPC's do know how to heal you and in most circumstances they are quite useful. Hold O to quick walk near them. it'll take them about 7-10 seconds to start running to you to rise you, so being near them helps.

- Permanent lock-on is R1+R3. I recommend learning to fight without locking on, since the lock-on camera is kinda messed up with large enemies :(

What determines the appropriate amount of water though?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I'm on Chapter 14 where
Noctis just came out of the Crystal and now we have to head to the Crown city. I'm guessing this the final part/mission? After I do, whatever I have to do, does that start post game where it's sidequest galore or is there a Chapter 15?

Just press O/B to exit once you reach 99 chests and you will then receive the reward. You can also die if you want but exiting is easier.

The machine is in Altissia.

There are several factions within the Empire. If a group of soldiers is NOT hunting you down, it's because they are with the faction that's aiding you.
I don't think the game ever pointed that out, unless it gets revealed later on or I somehow missed it, and I'm in chapter 12.
without these details it just looks like a dumb mess. I guess
there could be some internal conflicts between these factions (wouldn't have hurt to actually show that at some point), and for some reason Ardyn can do whatever he wants.

Yeah I was expecting it to do it eventually, and it did lock me out of some areas but that was after 10 hours.

Yeah, it basically only locks you as far as just not being able to get to where it wants you to go for them, but you can still pick them up.

Shuriken is utter shit imo. It whiffs all the fucking time.

Levels don't mean that much though. I think there is something going on with the monsters. Some monsters that were 10 levels higher were a piece of cake but me at level 70 still has issues with level 34 Coeurls.

Yeah. Certain monsters just seem more of a pain than others, regardless of their level.

Fuck groups of Couerls. Also fuck wasps and their confusion - the AI just doesn't deal with the confusion or the fact they can fly well at all, the only solution is having a protective accessory or bazillions of curative items for the confusion.

that puzzling face
It's amazing how many people are divided on this.. I fucking loved it myself.. but I guess a lot of people found it frustrating.

Probably should move this to spoiler thread, but:

I think a lot of beef people have with Ch9, which then gets solidified past the end of the game is that
E3 2013 advertised as an all-out war between Niflheim and Altissia. Heck, even ultimately in FFXV as it shipped, it's implied that there'd be a lot of interference from Niflheim. But even so, it ended up being a 1-on-1 fight.

Extending that through to the end of the game, I think I get where people are coming from when they say it lacks the 'scope' of Final Fantasy. You don't have the gigantic battles like Junon vs Weapon, Operation Mi'ihen vs Sin, the Garden battle in FF8, etc. Everything ends up a personal fight between Noctis vs _________, or Noctis + bros vs ________ (speaking of which, party fights end up far more mechanically satisfying than the solo set pieces, I think - As far as I'm concerned for RPG purposes, Ifrit really was the final boss of the game, and even the trophy suggests as much). edit: This probably also indirectly ties into wanting the invasion of Insomnia at the start of the game to be playable

Personally, as I posted earlier on, I'm willing to look past all of that, because the game really does deliver on the road trip and brotherhood aspects, but for people for whom those concepts aren't engaging, there isn't much else left in the game that's done exceptionally well to the point of being surprising.

Except the dungeons, maybe. Holy shit the dungeons in this game are GOOD.

As much as XV returns to the franchise roots in several key areas (in spirit if not in execution, technological limitations and all that) it really is a very different Final Fantasy to everything that came before it.

Really? I spent nearly fifty minutes Megaelixiring and cheesing my way through him. I'm scared shitless of what's to come next. That chapter did some shit to me man.

I think that if you are around level 40, you should be fine. There's a couple of annoying enemies, that you can just simply past running, and bosses aren't that hard, definetly easier than the one you just fought.

Funny what happened with all of you in Chapter 14.
I had L2 pop up on my screen when fighting whatever crazy high level monster, and after 30 seconds of running around getting my ass kicked, and it not summoning, I gave up and had to lay the smack down by myself.
Put that monster down like a clown.

What level were you when you beat the waterfall mission in chapter 3? I'm 22 and still get wrecked going through. Do I just suck that much at the combat?

I'm at level 41 and the rest of the guys are level 38 and 37, I'm good?

You *should* be fine, I was around that level when I finished. But you should know that mobs in the last part of the game are crazy hard. Most are level 47+ and some are like 53 and one I think is 73.

I'd say so. There are a couple of very high level monsters in chapter 14 but you can run by them (they are such drastically higher level it will be clear who what I mean). The remaining mandatory fights you should be fine for, but doesn't hurt to stock up on items.

Oh wow thank you ! :)

I love this game. Tell me, if I leave on the ferry in Chapter 1 am I gonna leave anything behind or am I starting a new chapter?

I want to take on the last few hunts in the area but im only lvl 7.

You miss nothing. Do whatever you want.

The fight became much easier once I let him kill all my teammates.

Same. Once I stopped worrying about them and just followed the patterns it just became a matter of time. When you aren't concerned about the ai it becomes pretty easy to dodge all the attacks.

I'm broke as heck though. I have 33 high options and 27 high elixirs, no phoenix downs though, used them all.

For the mandatory fights in that chapter I had to use one potion with my Noctis at level 45. The mobs might be a bit of a problem but it should be doable for you with that amount. If you have recall for Ignis that is a big help.

I think it helps if you don't worry too much about the rest of the party going down.

I mean we can discuss how Ignis and Noctis don't know who Ardyn is but why is everyone not losing their minds about (ch8)
Noctis not fucking recognizing Gladio in the Lestallum factory after being separated for a few hours

Finished it. Can't help but have regrets about what could have been. There was the potential for a great story and seeing what we end up with makes it worse. Holy shit.

Game is an unfinished, empty, botched mess full of bugs and incompetent game making but in the end fuck it I enjoyed my time with it against my better judgement, and I'll miss the boys greatly.

So mission accomplished, I guess! It was cool.

I interpreted that he did, and they were just joking around.

That moveset is gone, then? Or are there regular shuriken weapons?

Shame if it's gone.

At the very least (I don't remember the Plat. Demo that well) you can't go around Airdancing all over the place, regardless of whether or not you have the skill. It's still decent enough, but yea, got needed nonetheless.

He recognizes him.
They both make amusing remarks to each other that make it clear. Noctis makes a jab at him about sparring, since Gladio was his sparring partner/fighting teacher. Can't remember the exact comment.

Exactly

Wow the official strategy guide is beautiful! And holy hell at all the extra content this game has! Spoilers in case you want to see the list (no storyline stuff)

102 hunts
80+ side quests
6 optional dungeons leading to tombs
1 huge post game dungeon with no enemies, just puzzles
8 (!) sprawling extra dungeons (some more than 10 stories deep) with lvl 70-99 monsters and no minimap, more superbosses at the end, and including a lvl 99 dungeon WHERE YOU CANT USE ITEMS
7 superbosses to kill for 'ultimate' weapons (very powerful but not as strong as items found in the above dungeons)
1 giant adamantoise to kill for a trophy

plus getting high treasure chests in Justice Monster Five for rare stuff, the coliseum, buddy quests, car quests, fishing quests, photo quests...yikes!

I'm going to internet the
Oh my god Jared is dead scene as if the party were also joking around and and that Talcott was just a fragment of Noctis imagination
if that makes me feel better about that whole plot point.

You guys are right about the scene I complained about tho, I kept playing and they greatly recognize eachother.

There will be a point later on where you wish you had taken more and better pictures.

I understand your point, but that's really not me as an individual. I don't see any value in recorded experiences, I think they're cheap imitations and they tarnish the specialness of something that was experienced/shared by one or more human beings. I don't have any interest in looking back at experience reminders for the rest of my life - either they stayed with me because they were important to me or they got replaced by something else because they weren't.

Even worse is the fact that the act of trying to capture some experience permanently almost always ruins the most important moments of the actual experience as its occurring; it's the psychological version of the observer effect. I feel sorry for people who are constantly recording every aspect of their lives, as though they will forget who they are and what they've done if they don't have the exhaustive records to prove it.

tldr: Prompto is annoying and depressing

Edit: Maybe I completely misinterpreted this and you're actually telling me that I should have taken more pictures in-game? Do I get super powers if I save more pictures and stop to let Prempta take more?

Well, I had a productive day. To cap off Ch. 8, I:

- Killed
Midgarzolom
with the help of Expericasts. Gave me a bunch of exp, thus beginning my 8 days without resting.
- Cleared an optional dungeon (Took forever, but I loved it!)
- Did an optional base infiltration (Much harder than I thought it'd be, almost died for the first time because I stupidly forgot to buy potions)

Then I took all that exp I gathered, around 200k, and went to the 2x hotel, so 400k. Jumped from Lv43 to Lv60. My only regret is that I didn't have the good sense to do all of this until the 3x hotel, but unfortunately I had no choice but to spend it right then and there. But then again, I assume
I wouldn't be able to come back for awhile anyways.

I am spent for the day, got shows and shit to catch up on anyways. But yea, GOTY.
