The camera is also one of the worst I've ever contended with in a real time action game, RPG or otherwise. It's so damn frustrating, makes it hard to enjoy what would otherwise be decent combat.

I could honestly live with the camera if they just fixed the fucking lock-on. Hell, just have the game hard lock-on to the nearest enemy after you killed the first one, and the ability to toggle between enemies.

In other words, I just want a hard lock-on that is an actual hard lock-on. Is that so much to fucking ask for?

I am extremely annoyed right now. I was checking out the side content for ffxv (where you press right) on the psn home screen and the first box outright spoiled the ending for me. What the actual fuck.

Me too. I came in here just to say this. I'm really freaking pissed right now.

I want to specify it wasn't the video but the title that spoiled it. What morons.

I am at Chapter 14 now (But still haven't finished the game). I do however have a question for the people that have beaten the game, and please answer this without any story spoilers: I've heard something about a
Secret Ending much like those in Kingdom Hearts. Do I need to collect all Armigers to get it? Or what are the requirements?

What triggers the ability to
summon Ramuh
? Was able to randomly in the middle of a hunt. Just wondering if I missed an explanation somewhere.

Don't think it's explained in game, but different summons have different conditions. For Ramuh, I believe the fight has to last a long time.

In the middle of chapter 6, that
high flying fight with Aranea was kind of awesome, tbh

The longer the battle, the likelier it is, regardless of whether you're inside or outside.

Am I missing something here? I can't find the stone.

Is that the one near the beginning of the game? Like the first or second stone quest, and the place is near the middle of the desert?

If so, it's on the
south
side.

This game has been my first experience with "find this thing inside this radius" side quests. I hate every single one I do.

No secret endings.

So items like sabertusk claws, scorpion barbs hard whiskers, etc..do they have a use, or should i sell them all?

Also is there a certain way/guide to use my AP points?

There's nothing of the sort.

I think I read once that it only comes at nighttime. Was it night when you arrived?

I didn't go there at night but I figured there has to be a boss there at some point. Huge open area, perfect for it. Could it be that
gigantic bird that flies away from you neat Galdin Quay?
That would be awesome.

Haven't started yet; need to play through WoFF first. I wasn't going to order it to be honest, but then saw that patch that adds short-warps while exploring. Combine that with the lure of fun aerial combat, and I decided to get it lol.

Have you finished it?

Not even close to finishing.About 17 hours in,finally got to Duscae(which looks better and is far bigger than the Demo btw)

What turned you off so severely from the game ? You've been closely following and covering this game for years and years and years.

I ended up accidentally clicking on Ultros' spoilers for my question on the CGI cinematics.

There's three in the whole fucking game? What a massive disappointment. I was hoping for at least a couple more near the end. I knew Tabata stating that there's a "little less" than previous FF's was a lie.

One thing I look forward to with every FF is each game's set of gorgeous CGI cinematics. Very disappointed. No the game does not look good enough to have them be practically absent.

4 Summonable deities.

2 more are story-reserved and not summonable.

So, I'm about 6.5 hours in and the more that I play the more I'm finding that dodging consistently is basically impossible.

A lot of enemy attacks have zero wind up, and even the ones that do, it's hard to see because of the chaotic nature of the combat and the fact that the combat animations have you warping around everywhere.

I've been doing well with the combat, haven't game over'd yet and have been getting mostly A's in my combat ratings but fuck I'm getting irritated. Successfully dodging on reflex is pure luck.

You're disappointed by the visual productions of the game ?

I am disappointed by the sound direction. The lack of music is hugely felt in the game ,and the ambient sounds aren't even that good to be quite honest. They hardly ever make up for lack of field music/music in general.

That is disappointing, but seriously, not as disappointing as having a grand total of
three
CG cutscenes. In a mainline Final Fantasy title.

I know I'm whining but I need to kind of air out my disappointment.

It's not an ugly game (though sometimes it's not really... impressive). At all. It is beautiful sometimes.

But most cutscenes are very plain and lack polish. So having only
three
CG cutscenes in a game where I feel story presentation is already severely lacking, quite frankly, sucks.

I don't mind that. The graphics look good enough for me. Metal Gear made me fall in love with real-time cutscenes.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Honestly it's not so bad. A lot of the cutscenes look as good as CG already.

Oh, to be more specific, I meant within the Final Fantasy series, lol.

I haven't played DMC4 yet. I bought the collection on PS3 but I haven't gotten to it yet. I played a little bit of DMC1, thought it was way too dated, so I'm just going to play through 3 when I get the chance. I know I'll love the combat.

I can understand finding 1 difficult to get into (it's basically the beginning of the genre, after all) but if you end up liking the rest of the series, it might be worthwhile giving it another shot down the line. In any case, 3 is a great starting point.

I mentioned SE over vanilla DMC4 because of the warping aspect - if you wanted another action game character with a similar degree of mobility (aerial and otherwise) and ability to phase/blink towards and away from enemies instantly, SE's Vergil might be worth keeping in mind once you get to it.

But I do agree that this sort of combat in a RPG is something worth trying to build on. I'm really interested in seeing how that proposed co-op DLC goes, and how a fully-player controlled party will function. The final training mode shows that their movesets are at least capable of being utilised more effectively than the AI typically do...

Especially dat ending. Holy shit.

Yeah the post-credits scene is incredible. I thought it was CG at first but apparently it was ingame I believe. Holy crap.

Yes, but I had to watch it very carefully. It looks pretty amazing.

Only one small segment of the ending is CGI.

So I'm guessing it's safe to say the game doesn't even have 10 minutes' worth. I assumed the ending would at least have 5 mins' worth. Silly me.

And to your "dude wat," keep in mind I'm only at the beginning of Chapter 5 thus far.

Honestly, the game had a full length 2 HOUR movie made for it.

You can't possibly complain about the lack of CG,rather I could understand complaints about SE's excesses when they decided to make full movie.

You know... for all this time FFXV was an idea, even as versus and then XV, surely the pacing could have been better. Nope, let's just lock you up on a black screen that says "end of chapter" and don't even make the characters comment on the scene! My biggest complaints so far are in Chapter 8-9
Ignis gets blinded. How did that happen? Gladio got a massive scar. Who did he fight? Luna gets stabbed and all they do is mourn her passing with a newspaper? Another complaint: Aranea.... she's with the empire right? How does she not recognize Ardyn as imperial Chancellor and his duties? I'd assume she was enlisted after KG and knows about the Armatrice.

Aranea randomly leaving the empire and not a word from Niffs that she was planning to leave?

However, the train scene is really well done at the beginning of 10.

I will continue playing but god damn it, I'm a little disappointed with these chapters.

The ending is an in-game cutscene???????

Also, I don't agree. Most cutscenes are not even on-par with FFXIII's. Only some are relatively nice to look at.

Yea most cutscenes in the game are running in-game and they look terrible. There are few scenes that are in pre-set lighting environment that actually look good, but they are very few in the game.
Overall cutscenes in this game was one of the biggest disappointment.

I don't really care for Kingsglaive. The story in it is awful, 99% of the featured characters are not in the game, Luna looks nothing like her in-game counterpart, etc.

So, yeah. I'd much rather have had them include half an hour's worth of CGI in the actual game, rather than waste 110+ mins on a movie and then have less than 10 mins in the full game.

What's the say on gaf about English vs Japanese voice over. Some voices in English just don't match the characters appearance, it's really startling.

Also I want to chat with the person who chose X as a button to both jump and pickup items. Arghhhh

To that,I fully agree.

dude, wat...

I agree tbh...I haven't see every cutscene in the game as I am only in chapter 3(17 hours in),but FFXIII has better shot, better edited and better animated & composed cutscenes by the 17th hour mark .

There's no shame in admitting that. From a technical standpoint they were better.

I think even the OST productions were better in XIII from a technical standpoint.

It was a quest for Dino. I'm looking for amethyst stone. Will try to look the area again. I might had missed a part.

I wonder if you were talking about the quest on a missing person? The quest that will pop out automatically when you went by the area?

What's worse is that even though the pickup prompt is on-screen, Noctis still jumps sometimes. It's like you have to learn how to be very specific with picking up items rather than just running at them and pressing the button when the prompt is up. At least it makes Noctis look really excited about finding something when he sprints at it, jumps, turns a bit, and jumps again before turning more and picking up the item.

I mean, should I really need to buy a movie? I like the game, but find that kinda weird.

It's interesting... in Asian version it's O as a button to pickup item, so I keep swinging my sword when I try to pickup items or open door.

I just finished Chapter 13.

...that was the "dreaded" 13, that people have been saying is the worst thing in a game, whoever conceived it should be shot, hyperbole, etc etc?

Really? Lmao. It was a little long but I enjoyed it, it was an interesting change up, story advanced a lot.

The hyperbole over this game is insane, honestly.
