That only popped up for me once. For a mission at night in the power plant.

This has literally never been an option in any of the hunts I've done except the Exigen plant.

lol. What the fuck?

I don't know why, but I can't wait until nightfall anymore in the Post-Game. I could during the regular chapters but now I accept a Night-mission and...nothing.

Plus I hate her outfit, haircut, and her creepy jailbait crush on Noctis (dunno how old she is but she looks like 14/15).

Her voice is cute though.

I don't really see how it's creepy that she's got a crush on Noctis. It's not like he's returning those feelings and teenagers having a crush on someone older is pretty normal. Breaking the hearts of little girls is the entire reason terrible boy bands exist and Noctis' group even nailed the "terrible boy band" look. :p

Fuck Coeurls. WTF is this 1-hit kill bullshit. I haven't seen anything else in the game that completely bypasses the "injured" state.

Well, I just rage quit the game for now. Fighting that behemoth in the beginning, doing a bit of damage and then going down again and again is not really fun. It's frustrating.

What level are you? By the time I got to him it was very easy.

And got that Platinum Trophy just in time for The Last Guardian!

I think I'll just do a few more sealed dungeons and put it down. Game had a myriad issues at every level, but was a fun ride overall. I'm looking forward to revisit it if the inevitable Enhanced PC edition is worth it.

I'd be really surprised to see locked 60fps. Unlocked high 40s-50ish mostly is what I'd guess. They said they'd 'try for 60' or something like that

So can someone give me a non-spoiler answer. I'm on Chapter 14. After I beat the game do I get to revisit the open world, revert to an older save, do the whole dog thing? The game didn't exactly let me pick a save slot in Chapter 13 and I haven't had access to the Open World in a long time (that'd be a lot of levels and items lost if I had to revert just to do all the hunts, etc).

I'm also uncertain of the Niflheim hierarchy. The game is clearly building
Ardyn as the main villain and clear head of Niflheim
but what's the Emperor doing all this time? Anyway, on to the dreaded chapter 13.

It only happened to me once, but it seemed like it was a skill that took them time to charge up. Can't it just be avoided by getting behind them?

Also, I don't remember if it happened that time, but if I have Phoenix Downs handy I can rez Noctis before he actually "dies" during that state (not injured, full-on no HP).

Chapter 13 is okay, it's just waaaaaay too long

Idk how anyone could struggle with the half blind behemoth fight. It literally handholds you through it, gives you a free area to hide and a bunch of barrels to exploit. I tossed 2 fire spells and the fight was over. o_O

I'm playing through it right now (Ch. 13) and I think it's fine, but if it does get too long I'll accommodate by bumrushing through it best I can. >_<

The only thing that confuses me now is what exactly the story is doing, but besides that this doesn't feel that much worse than any previous chapter, just different.

Still waiting for my copy to ship =/ SimplyGames sent it out on time but somewhere along the way between UK and Germany it is sitting there taking its sweet time. Emailed today and was told it's their policy to only investigate when it's 20 working days late, so I should get back in touch after 23rd December...

Anyone else in this situation? Anyone have an advice? I've waited 10 years so what's a few more weeks! Very exciting to see everyone (more or less) loving the game.

It's a half baked concept. It's emblematic of so much shit in this game.

Magic, the open world, the story, the final chapters, how traveling works, the summon fights, hunts that only come out at night without any way to pass the time other than waiting around.

All of it is hampered by the same stupid logic of something that seems cool, but isn't fun to play.

They try to use ingame logic to give an explanation for these things, but it doesn't make sense and makes the game less fun.

That's why I care, and that's what I'm discussing. Magic was just what people were talking about at the time.

My take on your problems:

Magic is for the first time usefull in FF games. In 97% of fights in earlier FF games you never used magic, it's just full on attack, here it is wonderfully made with effects that looks amazing, it's how powerful you want it. And therefor you can make magic take down monster way higher than you, and if you like the challenge of the fight, you make less powerful magic.

The open world is the best open world I have ever seen. The sights and dungeon are amazing there are tons of stuff to do and getting from place to place with fast travel takes no time.

Hunts will automatically turn the day to night if needed.

Summons finally feels like they should. Massive and spectacular when they first decides to help you. Since magic can be over used, it cool that the summons are more random. But they have helped me when I needed it most.

I'm only at chapter 9, so can't comment on the rest of the story yet.

add the best fighting system in an RPG (I almost like it as much as Bayonetta and DMC) and for me this is just an incredible game and if you don't like it all I can say is you wrong and git good.

Another thing (more about chapter 11 than now) :
Why is Gladio all friendly again? Last I recall, he was super pissy Noct was mourning the DEATH OF HIS BRIDE-TO-BE and telling him to "be a king." Ignis didn't really settle that in his little tirade.
I dig the story, I really do, but it's getting really difficult to follow it now, and that is seriously bringing me down on it. I followed FFVIII easier than this.

And the train's stopped AGAIN.

Yeah, I dealt with that yesterday. My theory was that the attack actually hits you twice (since it swings its two whisker things at you), and the second hit kills you outright, but it's unacceptable no matter what the reason is.

Thankfully, I only lost a few minutes of playtime to it. But that brings me to another of my complaints: I really wish that the game either had more frequent auto-saving, or that it would have a "Restart Before the fight with a Penalty" option*. The save menu is super slow and totally halts the flow of the game, but you have to save constantly if you want to avoid dying to random unparseable bullshit attacks.

Which is yet another thing I could complain about, but I'll save that for later.

* The penalty could be, like, going down to 25% of your max health. Or maybe a gil cost that scales with level, idk.

Amazing.

I gotta ask, what was the deal with the chapter 2 boss? From his design he looked like he would be important, but the whole thing just ended up being hilarious.

"Hey! I'm here too!

*Explodes*

I assume the character was supposed to play a bigger part originally?
Or did he actually survive somehow?

I just realised I gave a weapon to Cid several chapters ago and he's still not done upgrading it. :|

During a loading screen the game tells you everything is cool again because reasons, that's pretty much it.

Chapter 13:
"Ardyn has stripped Noctis of his weapons" the game says. Huh? When did he have this kind of power?
Man, my enjoyment is plummeting faster than meteor.

I upgraded whatever I thought would be useful for me. It's fine guys. The game is pretty easy on Normal anyway. 24 hours in and not a single game over except for the silly stealth missions where it was a tad janky at spots.

I think they jokingly talked about thinking about it in a ATR.
yah they did iirc, but after seeing how good some of Ignis' meals are rendered — i really hope something comes of it

Not a fan of the stupid fucking missions where you have to find shit on the ground in an area.

man... don't get me started on that animal trap one. at least the frogs make a noise and you can use that to work out where they are. Also the quest is some low level but when i went to that area TWO lvl 34 Coeurls came out of nowhere....

Level up.....

TBF, they're level 34 Coeurls camping a level 10 quest. The one to find and fix the 5 traps. I think I was level 20ish.

Coeurls always had the 1 hit KO move, you can revive yourself quickly though.

I don't mind something having a powerful move, but so far, it's the only thing I've gotten hit by that takes me from full health and immediately puts me into the dead state, where you have to reload.

It only happened to me once, but it seemed like it was a skill that took them time to charge up. Can't it just be avoided by getting behind them?

Not sure if it's the same thing you mean, but the big lightning attack they do hurts a lot as well, but I could survive that. This was some kind of counter attack that kept killing me. I would dash attack them from a distance and be OHKO the moment I hit them. I didn't actually try to use a healing item after I got downed, but I assumed once Noctis is dead, I was stuck reloading.

Edit: I did end up just leaving the area for a bit and came back again later. Turns out a Quintuple-cast Fira spell effectively 1-shots them in return. 9999x5 damage.

You gotta read the notes on the tables, seriously. No excuse for this chapter but here anyway...
They were doing some kind of experiments to develop tech to remove the barrier protecting Luci and part of that was how to remove the Kings power.
Something like that, I honestly couldn't even be bothered to read the full notes at this point.

Friendly fire spells...ugh
Having to create spells over and over...ugh
Needing to siphon the rocks for spells...ugh
Cool down on spells...ugh

This ain't final fantasy that I remember. Still kinda fun though.

That is the literal exact opposite of my experience with this game and FF games in general. In past FF's magic was useful, fun and exciting. In FFXV I mostly hold circle until the fight is over.
