Since when is 13 hard? I imported the game back then in japanese without being able to read one thing (only hearing) and just pressed X with changing to certain paradigms when I need them. I only learned to read Haste so I could abuse X even faster. The game was made for people that dont want to think what they should pick lol

I only remember one boss in XIII to be hard, and that was Bartendalus on Chapter 11 (?).

Maybe also Odin.

The last boss in that game was not hard, but he was cheap. That fucker loved to cast Death, and you didn't get the accessory that protects you against it, you were pretty much fucked.

I think 13 is only hard at one point where you reach the open section and if you do not level up enough there is a certain battle to continue the story that you will fail horribly if not at the proper level. At least that is what it was like for me but I could be just remembering wrong.

First Barthandelus fight gave me trouble. And some of the last hunts.

Be warned that Royal Arms drain your HP when you use them. Some more than others. They are great if you want to finish fights fast, just keep an eye on your health and recover when needed.

You equip them to a slot like any other weapon. Be mindful they take HP.

Everytime you craft a spell you'll gain ap very helpful
If you love using magic like me I suggest you get the ability to draw more from each spot and the one that adds more potency to each spell.

It's a weapon. Just equip it.

For elemancy AP, you gain 1 AP for every spell you cast. If you want some extra AP just craft crappy spells and use them as often as possible.

I'm pretty sure you gain AP for using spells, not making them. I've tested.

Hmm, do these weapons have a specific name or icon next to them? I'm away from my PS4, but I don't remember seeing them in the equip menu. You can't sell them, can you?!

The Royal Arms have their own specific list in the Weapons Menu. They also have a particular icon in the 'currently equipped" weapons during gameplay. And no, you cannot sell them (That'd be kind of hilarious considering the plot. :p )

This is like summarizing any game as "I just pressed X and used certain abilities when I need them." Um... that's the entire fucking point.

Personally I thought XIII's difficulty was perfect. I never found it too hard, but then again not many Final Fantasies are if you compare them to something like SMT. I did find it challenging enough, fair, and compelling in a way that XV as of now is definitely not doing for more.

Fighting Barthandelus was really cool.

Do Hunts count as side quests?

I do. Optional dungeons too.

Quoting myself because I do not want to waste my precious gaming time.

Did anyone ever answer this for you? I glanced quickly through the thread on mobile, but if not spoilered answers below:

The journey is its own reward. No, seriously it says this. You might get some crappy treasure too, can't remember for sure.

WTF!?

Costlemark Tower

Who the hell at Square Enix thought it was a good idea to fight three Red Giants and one of those Snake monsters AT THE SAME TIME along with fighting the camera as well!? Fuck off. I beat them though using a billion Elixirs. Lord.

The frustration with XV is starting to set in. The side content in XV mostly sucks. I think it's time to push forward with the main quest after a break.

Falk

that puzzling face
It's
Meldacio town, near Risorath Basin (Vesperpool zone) if you take the highway down to Lestallum. You can play darts in one of the houses.

I hate to ruin your hopes and dreams but you can also play the exact same darts in the Hunter outpost in Leide right at the start of the game.

Bump, anyone?

Analyze is automatic. To use Libra (manual scan) go into the options and turn wait mode on. Next time your in battle don't press anything and the game will stop. Target the enemy you want to scan and hold R1 until the circle is full.

Just beat chapter 9, so far I'm loving the game as a whole. A few QoL improvements would help quite a bit. As far as the story I do agree its all over the place, the worst part is you can tell there is an amazing story here and when it does hit a high note (end of 9 for example), it just makes the weak areas all the more apparent. I could have easily seen this being in my top 3 if they could have fixed that, even still it'll be high up on the list. Cant wait to see the ending people are raving about, gonna try to wrap it up tonight.

Honestly, while I dislike the "git gud" style comments, I'm absolutely certain a good deal of people complaining about the combat simply aren't doing it right.

It's almost certainly through no fault of their own, though. The game sets you up with a shit control scheme (A is terrible, B and C are great), neglects to instruct you on half of its systems, and is just weird/unique enough that unless you truly delve into it you'll likely end up trying to play it like seemingly similar systems you've used in the past which will just make it awkward and non-responsive.

and yes, I realise some of you have mastered it and still consider it bad, but I guarantee there are plenty in this thread who simply need to learn it better.

So what does analyze do exactly? It says it automatically scans for weaknesses, does that mean only Ignis knows what those weaknesses are and can take advantage of them?

The game really is bad at explaining things. Combat, basic story elements, who Jared is.

Combat is so good once I wrapped my head around it, though. Control method C is the best.

It shows you the enemy's weakness if you lock on to them.

Where do you trigger that
haunted painting
sidequest in Altissia?

The barkeep gives out info and hunts, first get info from him, then select a new hunt that appears. I missed the hunt bit when I went to do it.

Edit:Assuming you have the original quest from the photo guy in Lestalum

Of course the game fucking bugged out on me. Beat the last boss in Costlemark Tower but no Royal Arm. Fuck you Square Enix. Done with this piece of shit game.

Thanks for answering. So it's not worth it.

I'm in Altissia and can't for the life of me figure out how to get to the next story-advancing area (which also seems to be the bar where Prompto wants to take a photo with me). Is there some way to actually board the gondolas I see moving around the city?

Master Tonberry is great. Wish it showed up in regular dungeons

I think one poster mentioned that he and other tonberries show in one of the sealed dungeons.

They are parked on the map(the ones you can board)

Yes. Check the map, go to a Gondola Station and board one. You can fast trip to the bar location.

What are the advantages of C? I'm finding A to be just fine, but maybe you can convince me.

Yeah I really need atleast double than that. I'm starting Ch.6 and I'm getting close to 100 pics saved. I want to save pics from all Chapters for dat roadtrip feel :/

I have 113 on chapter 3 :CCC

No I think it shows them to you aswell. I think it's a case of relying on the A.I to actually use it. I normally use libra at the start of the fight so I've not tested it properly but I recall having enemy weaknesses before I learned how to use libra.

He uses it randomly.

(mild gameplay spoilers - c9/c10)
There's a skill you can unlock
for Ignis later via story completion it's around chapter 9-10 I think. It was some kind of manual analyse skill, I didn't look into it because of regroup addiction and I'm not currently at my ps4.

Can anyone check the skill to see what it does please?

Bottom right of the screen you can switch weapons with square and scroll through characters with R2/L2 to see what is currently equipped. You'll be able to compare ATK level but that is it I think.

Cheers. That is one of the worst design decisions I've ever heard.. and not at all consistent with even past Final Fantasy games. Truly bizarre and unacceptable.
