Did you already give him a weapon? He can only do one at a time.

i can't tell.. my quest menu has loads of "a better weaponname" missions.
3 of them say to give in an item, 1 says to wait for him to do the upgrade. (i've done about 10 side quests and 10 hunts since)

just how long do i need to wait?

That's enough quests (see my post above) you probably just need to sleep and he will call

If I understand your question, Noctis can "dash to behind." You just do a free warp (i.e., no enemy hard or soft lock) and he can phase right through enemies and come out the other side. Then engage soft lock and strike for back attack. Works particularly well w/ larger enemies.

Also if you use daggers you can get behind enemies and still be attacking very quickly by just tilting the L stick right or left.

If you have an idea for a painting and you get 25% done then start over with a similar idea in mind but complete a different painting then the one you had started, you may have started the process 10 days ago but if you then restarted on day 6 you didn't spent 10 days working on that painting.

This is probably the best analogy for the dev period I think I have read for this game.

I've come up with a new recipe!"

I love Ignis with my whole heart.

It's always 2 or 3 quest and it's ready. Make sure to sleep and he will call you. You can also do repeat hunts (even the first level 2 one works) if you're running out of quest or want the item fast.

Out of curiosity, how does this game look on the Pro with a 1080p HDTV? I'm considering getting it so that my PS4 could stfu and I could run TLG better.

It looks beautiful and later this month, if SE keeps their word, you will have 60fps as well.

I got that sturdy horn on my second try, I'm lucky?

Btw, not every weapon class has an upgradeable path, right? Got swords and spears but not greatswords.

HQ mode has better shadows, AF, texture filtering and higher res than base PS4 but has framepacing problems (like Bloodborne). Lite mode looks like base PS4 but without variable framerate (1080p) and has no framepacing issues.

I'm playing with Lite mode myself because I don't notice the graphical upgrade that much but I do notice the framepacing, but everyone perceive these things differently. Atleast you have different options with this title.

It looks absolutely beautiful! Lol, I mustn't post some of my pics in here again, I'm afraid people are starting to be annoyed by them.

Finished the final chapter last night, it was great. Overall I rate this game a solid 9/10. Now I can finally mess around with the end game content. :)

Whoever playtested the Adamantoise fight and said good enough for release is an idiot. what a badly designed, and immensely boring fight. Killed it in Chapter 9 at lvl 61. I think I used two items and that's it.

What a disappointment.

Oh well, at least it was one of the easiest Plat I've seen.

Chapter 5 spoilers!

Is there a way to get the key for the Secret Door in the dungeon with Ramuh right now or is that later game?

I love Ignis with my whole heart.

The best part is when it happens after a big fight and you get some meat. It's immediate, like the whole time he was fighting Ignis was like, "Oregano or Paprika on this bitch's thigh?"

There's an upgradable weapon for all the normal weapon classes.

I see. I take it's not always the starter weapon the one upgradable then? I don't even know if the lance i'm upgrading right now was a starter weapon because I used the Gae Bolg quite a lot of time lol

Grats! But lol, I'm almost 30hours at Chapter 8 myself.

I love this game, but God damn it is it ever janky. I was just in the middle of a fight with a level 120 monster and boom, the loading screen pops up and I lose a half hour of play time, and all my hard earned progress from that fight. Annoying.

I like when you eat at a diner, and there's sometimes a cutscene where he's taking notes.

I noticed that too. Like he needs to take notes to make fries and a chili dog haha.

This is what cracks me up every time. Dude and his friends just get out of a fight where they almost died and all he's got on his mind is cooking shit with the corpse of whatever they just killed. At least he's not wasteful.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

FF13 Adamantoise fights sucked too. Extra brutal in that one given how many you needed to grind for one trophy in that game. I think even after doing everything possible, including maxing out sphere grids and level 99 for all characters, I STILL needed about 12 hours(calculated) of pure turtle grinding to craft all items and equipment due to rare mats they dropped. It was fucking the worst and I gave up on the plat for that game.

I was taking my time at first, but I decided to keep going with the story seeing as I don't have much time to play for a long time these days lol

Yeah I understand. I have this week off from work so I have to stop myself to finishing this game in a couple of days lol
It's cool that there's a lot of side stuff to do.

Questions:

1. Aside from hunts and quests, how do you earn Gil in this game?
2. Should I be giving magic to my bros or just hoarding it all for Noct?

1. That's basically it. Or sell treasure you find.
2. Depends if you care about magic being randomly used during combat.

I'm sure it's been answered but I've lost track of this thread... Is there a way to pass time (ie skip night) without cashing in exp?

1. Sell shit. You accumulate a lot of stuff to pawn especially from battle and/or traversal. Just keep at least 1-2 of each item if you concern over having as many food dishes and crafting items available at a moments notice. You never know, but most of what you have can be sold off for a nice profit beyond questing as well.

2. Don't bother, just give them their secondary weapons(Gladio=shield, Ignis=spear, Prompto=Machinery). Save magic for Noctis on specific encounters where its useful.

One of my biggest gripes with this game is that Magic is really secondary and almost nigh unnecessary for the majority of fights. Plus the whole friendly fire thing does not help at all.

This is probably the best analogy for the dev period I think I have read for this game.
It can be official Square Enix property for the low low price of
making my likeness a main character in FFXV-2 or FFXVI
!

All
potential
kidding aside, it's probably the only good analogy I've made in my life lmao so I'm glad it's been noticed!

Welp... Just finished Chapter 13 (took about 2 hours).

I... can't say that was the worst thing I have ever done in a video game, not by a long shot.

With that said, Chapter 13 is down there with The Fade from Dragon Age Origins in terms of shit I never want to do a second time in my life. It is such a drag that I am actually less inclined to replay through the game if I can't skip at least 80% of that Chapter outside of cutscenes and boss battles.

For the story;
So far, I would say that Ardyn is probably one of the most engaging villains FF has ever had since.... Kuja, now that I think about it. He's not the best thing ever, but he does give a "love to hate" kind of situation going on. I don't like him, but he's the kind of villain Noctis really needs in a story like this. Too bad the Emperor and Ravus get turned into half-baked demons offscreen and their plot threads ends up crashing into a brick wall.

Now Chapter 14 just screams "we ran out of budget. Enjoy your Chrono Cross-esque eleventh hour plot dump from Bahamut as he explains every major loose end and set you up for the final battle. Oh, wait, we have a World of Ruin-esque situation, people really loved that from VI! ... Oh shit, people could actually explore cities and shit in the World of Ruin. Well, enjoy your bombshells of Cindy and Cid still being alive, Iris becoming a fucking monster hunter, and Gladio seemingly about to get married offscreen, because we couldn't be assed to make updated character designs at the moment!"
Game, you can't do that. You just can't do that.

I've not seen a way yet. Not sure if fast travel will push time forward?

I have grinded my fishing stat at night though when not wanting to cash out xp to rest. While fishing, none of the enemies seem to bother you as I had a few iron giants on screen making ruckus but they couldn't do a thing while Noctis had his fishing pole out. By the time I clear out a spot of fish its usually morning anyway(and I can even rush over to the iron giants for free xp as they burn to death in the morning sun!)

Probably best to either delete that or mark it as a Dexter specific spoiler.

Could easily ruin the show for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

You're not wrong, but damn, now I know what people mean when they say spoiler culture is annoying at times lol

Wtf? They just look exactly alike and I just started the show. Just edited it so your reply doesn't spoiler it for someone else like it did me :/

Hey Ignis, do we really have to go through the same 60 second long loading screen -> dialog choice -> loading screen -> dialog forward cycle every time I tell you I need to drive somewhere at night. I know it's dangerous, you told me forty seven times already. You need to understand one thing: the guy at the grocery stand needs a bulbous onion right fucking now.

Leave me alone, you're not my father!!!

This does stop happening eventually, you just need to prove to ignis that you can handle yourself. (I don't know what actually causes this to trigger.)

As soon as I hit Duscae he let me drive whenever.

But now that I can do that I also got Chocobros. So....
