Disappointed with that. The clothes you begin with are cool, but kinda limited. A bigger variety was a no brainer for me.
This is such a huge let down. I do hope they release more DLC outfits or patch some in. Not sure why they even bothered with such slim choices.
yep. really disappointing.

they'll probably dlc it up tho :p
There is also one more costume you can find in Lestallum, but after like Chapter 7.
really? cool. still too few tho :(
Can you only change to night by the hunt givers?

yep

I ordered the deluxe edition from Amazon, but did not finish that Amazon road trip game. I did get a code in my email today, but do I need to finish the road trip to get all the dlc?

I hope they release costumes in packs. If only Noctis gets new shit I'll be disappointed.

He might get more costumes, but I don't think he'd be the only character with DLC costumes if they do a reasonable amount - the rest of the party will be playable in their DLC episodes and that multiplayer thing, after all; and they did decide to give them alternate outfits in the base game even without that.

Back in the old Final Fantasies when you didn't like a costume you just had to DEAL WITH THAT SHIT because it wasn't going anywhere for the next 100 hours

Y'all like nostalgia throwbacks, well boom, here's one

Well, I had set aside 4 hours after work to play it yesterday, and had my popcorn ready and everything.

Took a break after about 50 minutes and didn't feel in much of a rush to go back. Played another 40 minutes and after that stopped and went and played Mario Golf. Sitting here in work not missing playing the game at all.

Safe to say that it has been a very weak opening for me. That said, I feel like it has yet to 'click' so I'm certainly not writing it off. I was ready to quit the Witcher 3 for good after 3-4 hours and it became an all-timer once I got my head around how best to play it, after all.

But I really do think the opening is super weak. The weakness of the story and the unevenness of the jumps between the tutorial, the 'flash forward', the leaving scene and the car breaking down are obvious, but that's just the story. The most concerning thing for me is just how much time I've been spending running around the desert with a shite stamina bar, and that Noctis isn't that much fun to control outside of combat. His jump, in particular, still feels wrong to me.

Oh well, roll on 6pm when I can give it another go.

Turn the stamina bar on so you can see it on screen.
Press circle to sprint - right before it empties - let it go.

He gets a boost and a full stamina bar. It never runs out.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
What the hell is wrong with Noctis standing posture anyway? Why is he tilted like that? He's so fucking cool but that ONE gripe destroys most coolness

It's nice how much worldbuilding you get from talking, listening to people and radio stuff.

I don't think I saw a preview where people actually talked to Dave after getting the quest from him, and he talks about how recently more and more specials beasts are appearing. Ones that mostly look like normal beasts, but with some distinctions. In that case, the red horns and glowy eyes. He wonders if it's related to the nights getting longer.

Then on the radio you see Sania appearing as a guest, and she talks about these mutations, and that it's getting more common to find animals that no longer match the species they come from.

So I'm imagining that the Plague of the Stars, as times goes on and nights get longer (which seems to be happening for quite a few years already, given the Lore Details you can read in the tutorial area), is affecting regular animals, making them closer to deamons. I wonder if humans can get affected too. I hope I can find the answer to that :p

Aldercapt's visit to Insomnia also seems to be longer than what I thought it was from Kingsglaive, so I guess they're trying to make it easier for the player who watched Kingsglaive to go with it without it feeling weird that they're camping for days already and the invasion still didn't happen.

And the gossip about "let's meet the prince!" was also funny, because it described Noctis as this wonderful, caring person who helps those in need and loves nature and shit. I mean, I have no reason to doubt that's true, but it's cool to see the contrast with the day-to-day Noctis you live with in the game. A more honest description would be "always complaining, loves to sleep, would rather let Ignis do the cooking".

It was kinda weird getting my first night without even leaving Hammerhead, though. I should make some progress.

After playing the game for a while, I even restarted it for that reason (and for the full Crown Patch), I feel many are actually doing the storytelling an injustice when they say it is too sparse or there's hardly any background info about anything.
When you listen to your bros (you have to explore a lot because some of their conversations are triggered at certain spots on the map or doing certain quests), talk to NPCs, overhear chatting NPCs, listen to the radio, do certain side quests and make sure to sleep once at every camp (for optional cutscenes and even more side quests) Eos and the characters are so much more fleshed out.
You just really have to go with open eyes and ears through this world. Many reviewers certainly rushed through the game in 30 hours or less and were bound to miss a lot of stuff. Even I did at first. When I restarted the game and was more aware, there was so much more I learned.
In my first playthrough I missed Prompto's heartwarming talk with Noctis and Luna taking care of the sick. Imo important character building scenes.
I feel though they really shouldn't have made these scenes optional but mandatory when you play. :/

Ho man, that could change everything. Thank you!

At the moment the dude runs like me when I was 230 pounds all flailing limbs and huffing and puffing.

Does the depth of field effect look weird for anyone else? Playing on Pro on High for what it's worth. Looks like the bugged DoF in World of a Final Fantasy on the Pro at the moment.

even worse - his animations were very obviously designed around having a jacket on because when he's just wearing a t shirt all kinds of weird shit happens around his waist, lmao

it's bad but it's been that way in every demo so far, going back as far as duscae, so i don't think it's something they'll change.

I do notice the framepacing issue a bit, but it's very subtle to me and not distracting (Playing on Pro). I'm not that sensitive to things like this. I actually have to look for it.

Someone else here said they skipped the tutorial and doesn't get any frame pacing. I tried both doing & skipping the tutorial and I actually don't notice it at all, if I skip the tutorial stage. Perhaps the tutorial is causing it for the rest of the game?

As I say - hold it until the bar enters the 'ST' range and then let go. He gets a Jonny Cage style boost and stamina refills. If you press L3 he just runs until it runs out and then moans about feeling sluggish.

Is the english voice acting terrible? Is japanese much better?

I don't mind them at all. Cindy annoys the shit out of me but the 'dudes' are all good :) Better than Tidus anyway and he was still bearable.

Man I'm not sure if I can wait the 8hrs it's going to take to download this patch. I'm about to watch Kingslaive though, so should I be okay to just start without it? It'll add the omen cutscenes without me starting again right?

Well, you'll also get chocobos later, so you could save some of the side questing until you can ride in style.

Patch 1.01 said that saves from previous versions aren't compatible with 1.01. I don't know how it works out if you go straight from 1.00 to 1.02, though.

I can't be the only one who'd buy outfits from past FFs for the bros.

Noct-Squall
Gladio-Irvine
Prompto-Zell
Iggy-Male Quistis gear

Edit; I suppose Glad and Prompt can switch and still work.

Please?

How do I fish? Just throw my line and wait? I skipped through the text a little too quickly and feel like I'm missing something ...

Look on the HUD for little blue/orange circles

Aim the casting target until it turns orange (it's over a fish)
Press X to cast (ps4 controls)

Slowly reel in with R2

Strike the direction on the left analogue stick when it says

Reel in with R2

When it says 'tension' just let go off the reel and use left analogue in the direction it states

Xbox One version runs in dynamic 720p to 900p resolution and looks very blurry. Many say it is the blurriest game they ever saw on Xbox One.
...but at the same time, it runs without any frame pacing issues at all. It looks much smoother in motion than the PS4/PS4 Pro version.

I think I disagree. In such a huge map, more story beats and lore information are one of the best possible rewards for exploration. If only the mandatory path had story-relevant stuff, it wouldn't be as fun as it is to just go out and do your thing. Why would I make sure to listen to the radio every time I walk into a diner if nothing of value will be there, and every story-relevant thing will appear in the main quest?

I don't mind the fetch quest nature of the sides because the gameplay is a lot of fun to me, and what it lacks in small stories for each quests in the vein of The Witcher, it makes up for with world building that adds to the main story.

The Ignis cooking minigame was something straight out of Brotherhood, and what made me want to camp at every possible location. Why would I do that if these scenes had no chance of appearing?

By the way, tried to fight the Bandersnatch, gave up very quickly, wasn't doing much damage at all, haha.

Now I gotta work, unfortunately there's some stuff I have to do and couldn't take the whole day off, but I'm excited to continue exploring after I get back home. Next stop is Hammerhead again, do some more things before heading to Galdin Quay.

7 hours so far.

So... has anyone in Germany received their FFXV Deluxe Edition from the SE Store yet?
I never got a shipment notification but according to my account page it is marked as shipped via Royal Mail without tracking...

I know you are all busy playing the game but is anyone here in the same situation as me? I really don't want to but the game twice just to play it on release...
