That shoehorned Kingsglaive sequence at the end of chapter 1... lol

Yeah, they should have had Luna narrating it or some such...it is so strange they just plonk it in there with no dialogue, text, context or anything. What were they thinking? They should fix that...

Spam R1+Triangle in those situations until you get out of there.

Also - the 1.0 save doesn't work with other patch files. It would be pointless.

Other people have been moaning about frame rate or all the other general foibles but I haven't seen any

No the save from 1.0 will work with 1.01 or 1.02. You just cant reload it with older versions.

Jason Kidd murdered my dog in cold blood!
So, when you get to the boat right after speaking with Dino.... I'm level 5. The main quest is for level 2 or above. So I'm on track...

But all the side quests are 14-17 or so, it seems... so I feel way underleveled? Am I doing something wrong, or should I just plan to come back at a later point?

A lot of those quests are just fetch quests, so you can be any level, really. But you don't have to do any of the side quests. Skip them if you can't complete them.

Can you give an example?
Well i should probably clarify that they have changed it to be more western i guess, so the meaning is more or less the same but sometimes its just different enough to how i would have translated it that it sounds wrong

Like in the beginning when the car have broken down and people drive past and Ignis says Shikata ga nai(nothing can be done, it cant be hepled) and the text says "Sometimes these things happen." Its technically the same but i just wouldnt translate it that way so it messes with the flow for me

Then we have moments like when they are pushing the car and Gladio complains and Prompto responds with "Hai hai" and the text says "Ok tough guy" or something like that and in that case it fits because in the english language they dont really have a phrase that fits hai hai and the way its said.

It kinda is like a bad fansub at times but im probably just being really picky

At last, you're mine....

Also, I've got pretty good internet speed -- on track to download full 1.02 patch in about 30 minutes :)

I'm like 5 or 6 hours in so far and it's an alright game, but something about it doesn't feel 'Final Fantasy' enough for me. The beginning segment is just really boring, and the story is told in just about the most awful way possible. It's a disjointed mess so far story-wise.

And I'm just not digging the battle system so far, either.

I think at this point in FFXIII, even, I was really wanting more and hooked to what was going on.

Will I regret getting the Luna ed ps4 to play this now instead of waiting for ps4 pro to come in Stock? could be mid Dec or Jan before they get restocked here :<

Are the differences very noticeable? I've seen people say the perf on pro isn't that great? What about on normal ps4?

I was level 9 and decided to advance the main story. The side quest won't go anywhere and it seems like you have limited resources in the first chapters (no Chocobo, no manual mode for the Regalia, etc) so just do the lower level side quests and then come back to complete the others.

Here's some tips.

Don't fucking mash the attack button. Hold it down for a bit. let go, and time that shit. You'll get stronger combos and won't be open to getting knocked down.

Leave some MP to get the hell outta there. Don't be afraid to back off.

Blindsiding dudes is like, one of the best ways of tackling enemies two times your level.

Use the goddamn magic system. It helps. A lot.

Get Ignis to show you weaknesses and equip the right weapons. You can switch in the menu during a tough battle.

Don't fuck with dungeons until like level 30, even on Easy tbh.

Am I crazy for wanting to go to GameStop after class and get the game simply because my order from Amazon won't arrive until tomorrow? lol :( I shouldn't waste that money I know, but... ugh, even my fucking roommate's copy is arriving today (and his got his from Amazon, too)! It's bullshit.

I started laughing.....some dude at Best Buy was picking up steep. I felt sorry for the company who made it.....I didn't even know that it released today. Game wasn't even close to my SSX itch and wasn't fun at all. He was picking up final fantasy. Told him to wait for seep reviews before even opening it. Kids going to waste $60

I did it with my Best Buy order. But returning online orders is a cinch for Best Buy. You can just go to the nearest store for instant refund

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Alright, work is finally done. Week off now.

Time to literally play this for 35+ (?) hours non-stop. Wish me luck.

how do you change out your teammate techniques in battle? Like, I had Ignis learn something new via Ascension and can't seem to use it. Lol

You can cash them in eventually.

Thanks.

On another note, Chapter 3 Spoilers :
I went and collected the Royal Arm behind the waterfall before Talcott told me to. So, instead of telling me the legend of the sword behind the waterfall, there was a different line where Talcott said that the sword Noctis has is similar to the one told in legend.
Nice attention to detail.

Love stuff like that. And this game has SO MUCH of it.

The localization is really heavy handed and in some places, shockingly different. The subs are written to match the English dialogue, which is different than the Japanese dialogue. Most of it is little stuff, like the example in the quote above. But Gladio can feel like a different character between English and JP with the tonal changes and voice acting.

It's not that it's bad, the localization is pretty great, but the fact that it's different from the Japanese voice acting makes it hard to listen and read if you know the language.

I need help. I'm playing the Costlemark Tower at the moment.

After activating the four "elevators" and fighting the ridiculous amount of enemies, what's the next step? There's a fifth elevator in the middle of the room but I can't activate it.

I have two questions:
How do you summon? I got carbuncle from the demo but can't find to summon him.
How do I purchase new outfits and where?

This game has a lot of stupid decisions that make you ponder.

Question for anyone who's in the post game content.
Where do we fight that big ass bird that we sneak by in Chapter 1 to get the minerals?

Go to Lestallum
there's a npc that gives you the quest.

How do you get Ignis to show weaknesses? And where do they show up?

Nice OT. Real pretty visuals.

But I feel that this thread, after 10 years, isn't quite hype enough.

Let's do this.

To all the haters, Slim Tabby style.
