So I did tons of sidequests, a dungeon, saved 60k of exp and multiplied it by 2 by resting at that beach hotel. Went from 37 to 46, infiltrated the base, beat it all by myself (all party members are pretty much useless in there), but the Flying Regalia sidequest doesnt start. I have all the parts but I cant upgrade the car to F-type because apparently the game wants me to beat the story first (thats what diff. websites say).
I was under the impression beating the main story first wasn;t a requirement. What a waste.
GAF, I have no patience for Amazon's bullshit and am tempted to swing by Walmart on the way home to snag a copy. Long story short: my copy hasn't arrived and has been sitting at "carrier delayed" with no update since last night.
What's my recourse here? Can I return this to Amazon for a refund? I had some time set aside tonight to play and am irritated that my copy didn't come in when promised.
I can finally change my avatar. I said back many many years ago I would not until this game released. Now I hold it in my hands. Kagari made it for me. End of an era indeed.
So I'm in the middle of a fight and the game just goes to a random loading screen of Luna... been stuck here for a few minutes. I'm scared to quit out of the game.

How hard is this game? I've never completed a Final Fantasy before (outside of Type-O HD on easy), though it's been more than a decade since I've tried (once again, outside of Type-O HD).
I played VII, VIII and IX as a kid and pre-teen but didn't beat them. I was underleveled when I made it to the crater.
I was going to wait until next month to pick this up, yet I find myself leaving Best Buy with the Deluxe Edition, that steelbook is too good looking. Should I watch the movie first.
So the 2nd day...at 6.3 hours now. Going at a pace of 3 hours a day so far.
I have heard so much about the story on here. So I will start with what I thought of it as I finally finished chapter 1, 2 and I'm on 3 now. So a few events here and there happened.
I found the cutscenes emotional in the last chapter. I felt the
seeing Insomnia from the clifftop was done well, the Cor scene felt natural, not forced, not overly melodramatic. The Luna intro scene was gorgeous...no words needed to be said. Her showing the ring to Aranea and the way she looked at her said it all.
Now it's not perfect, and I wish we had 10 times the amount of cutscenes we do...but the emotional gravitas did hit me. Maybe it's also because I actually genuinely care for these characters as they are fantastic! And that has made a hell of a difference in how the story is being received by me now.
Anyway now to the bad...I'm already feeling open world fatigue. It has crept in...and it usually leads me to stop playing the game. But this is a FF so I will carry on. My strategy is to literally follow sub quests/lore based pointer quests and of course do the main quest. There is no point for me to keep doing these boring hunts. I hate it.
The feeling of driving into
duscae
with archylte steppe from FFXIII playing was incredible though. Fab. And fisherman's horizon is always on in my car too.
The photo mode is amazing. Prompto is the best bro anyway...but his photo skills is such a unique thing bout this game. Really makes the roadtrip aspect come alive!!
The battle system....okay I know I said I found it meh yesterday, but boy has it grown on me today. Something has clicked and I am enjoying it much much more.
The world continues to be the best bit too...despite the open world gameplay mechanics boring me to tears...its design and what it means is grand, epic and charming.
So the game continues to be good. But I just realised what feels missing here as it did in MGSV. The game does not feel like an event...not yet anyway. There is no grand narrative nor polished, well directed cutscenes that make it feel like a blockbuster title like FF's used to be. And that is horrifyingly disappointing.
You know it's bad when Star Ocean 4 and Lightning Returns have better directed cutscenes than you do (purely direction...the content of XV's scenes is admittedly light years ahead of those games).

I'm having a similar issue. My copy has been sitting in a carrier facility for the past 12 hours and has not moved. It was scheduled to be delivered today, but on UPS tracking, it says it's still on time and will be delivered tomorrow.
If Amazon and UPS needs more time to deliver for same date delivery, they should send it out a day early. I'm so tired of not getting packages on time.
Same . Playing that game felt like an event...XV doesn't feel the same. I think the poor narrative direction and non-existent pacing is why. For me anyway.
Is this worth getting if my sole interest is combat? Like can you sustain yourself for a very substantial amount of time with only freeform exploration and killing progressively stronger stuff stuff like in other open world RPGs?
Basically, can I "spend 15 hours in the Hinterlands" in this game?
All the changes and effects and added stuff was not in the piggyback guide for 1.01 but as a separate Download for free from the site. Quite alot was done in 1.01:
Thanks Nemisis! I would have never found this myself. Thanks for the heads up.
Also for some odd reason I got plenty of extra DLC codes for the Roadtrip DLC (Gae Bolg, Mage Mashers, Blazefire Sword, Travel Pack, Camera Kit, and Gourmand Set (CRISPY PIZZA Camp Food Unlimited Sprint Buff!!) So quote to nab em. Some of the ones I tried initially for myself didn't work, and I have heard of others having issues with their Roadtrip codes. Hope these do. Quote to see em, if I did that right. Been a while.
So I read somewhere that as you drive sometimes characters comment on something nearby. May be a cave/or place of interest. And these trips lead to more lore/dialogue based quests (just dialogue not cutscenes btw). So I'm gonna look out for them. And then the stuff with question mark on them which are side quests. They are mostly fetch quests but there aren't many of them so that is fine enough for me.

Its honestly more on the shipping company than Amazon.. its also Holiday season. The UPS guy who delivered my copy was telling me that he was delivering boxes since 6AM and still had more than half to go.... I gave him a cold soda since I felt bad he was working his ass off while I was about to play games all day.

So I think Amazon fucked up the road trip dlc, because I got 4 sets of codes. I'll redeem 1 set when I get home and then probably give away the others here. And yeah I know you get three codes, I got four sets of three codes....
And yes, all of those emails have codes, and they all look different except for one of them.

It was a browser game you had to complete to get the codes.
Like when you preordered you got a code to enter the road trip site, then you play the games and when all done when the game releases you get dlc codes.
I got my Road Trip DLC codes in my email but how do I redeem the Carbuncle Surprise DLC (ie Cindy Regalia skin, etc)? The website just says that the promo is over and no other information.
So I've found my only complaints so far for 3 Chapters in. Lock on is shit. Even hard lock is pointless since it disables if you use a link. It makes tracking limbs a pain.
Second is the story is being held back by scenes either being poorly handled or delivering the bare minimum. It's like they were scared of backlash for having long scenes. If they left just a bit more room in each scene for characters to convey their feelings about the events or explain their effects or relevance from time to time it could have been pretty great so far.
I'm surprised because I expected the story to be the issue, or lack of it, but it could have easily been fixed by putting a bit more time into the existing scenes. A real shame.
Last but not least. Stop keep auto suggesting fast travel, making me cancel that and agree to the next screen to have Ignis drive but not warp there. Sometimes I want to chill and look at the scenery I may have missed. It should be a choice not some unusual sequence of yes/no inputs
Okay, I'm going to be sincere. I'm a huge FFXV fanboy and I usually turn a blind eye on this game's criticism like Cindy, the transmedia universe and all of that. But I'm highly disappointed by the story presentation.
The story IS good. The characters ARE good. The introduction has so much potential. And it's not like the game doesn't explain what is happening, is that the game brushes off any weight these events have on the characters. Okay, we don't see the Insomnia downfall, that's part of Kingsglaive and I'm fine with it, but why is Lunafreya introduced in a non dialogue cutscene after the game spends 5 hours talking about her? Why isn't her relationship with Noctis explained before we move into other things? Why is this Niflheim general attacking me like its personal when he hasn't even appeared in any FFXV related media before?
There's not a lack of cutscenes, there's a lack of presentation in the cutscenes. When Cor
gives his speech at Noctis in the first tomb
, it could have been a bigger moment, but it feels flat and shallow. And it's not because of the characters, it's because every scene in the game so far it's like they wrote an outline of an hypothetical final scene and then forgot to work on them.
I just finished Chapter 2 and so far, I think it's the FF experience I'm enjoying the most since FFIX, but I'm really annoyed because I kept trusting that the storytelling complaints were just going to be exaggerated. Cor's involvement into the chapter 2 events needed an character arc, not a phone call. The world of Eos needed a narrator type of video introduction and not an optional prologue in the tutorial. And let me not even start on the whole deal with Chapter 0, which still makes absolutely no sense to me.
Your worries are natural. Trust me I was in the same boat except I enjoyed the beginning chapters more even with the lack of story. It's when it goes full story where all the disappointment came. If it weren't for the ending I would consider it the worst of the series.
