You should probably play the other games then. Hector from FE7 and 9-10's Ike have some of the most badass lines in the series, and Ephraim from 8 took over an entire castle with just himself and a couple cavaliers. Not to mention the dark shit that goes down in FE4 and 5 on a story level.

Oh and FE3/12 has a goddamn Char so that has to count for something.

Damn, makes me want to play the other FE games.

Who is Char?

Hmm... I'm so conflicted. Sounds like a great way to power up, but also feels kind of "pay to win" and counter to the main campaign. Maybe save it for when I'm done with the main story and just want to see everyone pumped up?

How does that work if you buy the $6 pack? You just download the other two for free when they're available, since you already paid for them? I thought it was like early access.

When they're available, your game updates the maps into your game.

Yes, it's basically like a mini-season pass. You'll get access to the other two maps when they become available in the next two weeks.

Its definitely a "cheat code" dlc, its up to you if you want it. Seems like lunatic and lunatic+ are balanced around you having the dlc, which is pretty gross

Lunatic can be completed without DLC. Lunatic + is pretty unbalanced though, due to randomly giving extra broken skills to the enemies.

(Double post, sorry.)

I'm of the opinion where the best support pairing for the avatar is whichever one holds the most emotional impact. If you play as a guy, marrying Chrom makes sense for his desperation to save you in the end. If you're a guy, marrying Lucina makes it equally as important for her to try to save you during the endgame.

Anna is the best pairing if you play through it really as "yourself" because you know it's just a game.

The extreme awkwardness at family gatherings maybe?

Your child can also inherit Aether.

I think I might do that cause I really want Noire to inherit Lockpick from Gaius which goes against my initial plan of having Tharja with Avatar so I could make Noire a Dark Flier. Kind of getting grinded out right now.

What does Aether do?

Speedrunning? Sure, why not.

What you do, buy a previous unit from another playthrough?

Nope! On Normal, using Chrom + Avatar only makes them ridiculously overpowered. Just make sure Avatar gets LifeTaker and you are pretty much guaranteed to win.

Not sure how well this will work on Hard; will probably try tomorrow.

Is it okay to ask what the approximate length of this game is?

I'm only at Chapter 5 now, so I don't think I'm that far in yet.

Two strikes, first one is Sol and the second is Luna.

What's the most creepy, screwed up, pedophiliest, incestuous family you can create in this game?

I believe have your Avatar marry Lucina and then have Morgan marry Owain gets pretty entangled.

Ha, ha! Fuck Lunatic Mode. The jump from Hard to Lunatic is too frustrating for me right now. 'Tis a shame, since Hard gets too easy early on. I can't even imagine what Lunatic+ is like. But I still love meh game, and I've started another on Hard/Classic.

Dunno about the "pedophiliest" part but I heard Lucina and Owain can get S rank and they are cousins. And they have like the best supports conversations too besides the ones with their parents and Lucina with the Avatar.

can't decide whether to go with Swordmaster or Assassin for Lon'qu's advanced class. Can someone suggest anything (pros/cons)? it's been a while since my last FE.

I'm sure this has been discussed before somewhere but I figured I'd ask again.

I currently do not own a 3DS, but this game really has me considering getting one. I'm not terribly good at strategy games but I do enjoy them. The last Fire Emblem game I played was the one released on the GBA and to be honest I found it kinda difficult. My question is how is the difficulty in this one? Can a relative newbie pick it up and enjoy it? Also how is it on length or longevity? I'm perfectly OK with short games but being as I might be buying a whole system just for this game at the moment I would like for it to keep me occupied for awhile. Whether it be just a naturally longer game or one that can be played multiple times.

Any feedback would be welcomed.

Difficulty is not an issue as you can disable Permadeath. And yes, a relative newbie can pick it up and enjoy it; my ten-year old daughter loves the demo to death and is saving up for her own copy.

If I remember correctly, cousin children don't actually marry when they S rank, they just become "companions" according to the game. I know LucinaxOwain's conversation doesn't implicate marriage at all.

Easy way to get Severa, if you have a few BEAST MODE units ready:

- Fly Cordelia over to Severa at the start to begin the escort mission.
- Move all your units over to where she is.
- Follow her with your strongest units.
- Eventually outpace her and choke off the corridor so all enemies attack you.
- ???
- PROFIT.

Also, female redhead Morgan (daughter of Avatar X Anna) is best Morgan.

I got her from CordeliaXAvatar. But yes, the best.

Assassins have higher STR and Skill, while Swordmasters have higher DEF and RES.

Skill-wise Swordmasters have access to Astra (which is okay) and Swordfaire, though Assassin's have Lethality (Guaranteed kill if it actually activates) and Pass. Plus Lethality is definitely the best attack animation in the game.

As for weapons: Swordmasters only use swords, while Assassin's use swords and bows.

Are all the children units' hair affected by who their fathers are? Because the standard art for Severa has her with red hair, but she has grey hair in mine (Virion was her father). I thought it was only Morgan that was affected like that.

All children inherit their father's hair color expect your avatar's which inherit the avatar's marriage partner's.

I find that even though I'm grinding here and there (Hard/Classic), I generally opt not to keep my most powerful units in play when I can avoid it. So even though I may not be facing much of the "challenge" that arises from experience management and game planning -- as a newb, I don't think I would even know where to begin -- the moment-to-moment gameplay is still pretty tough. And if I ever feel hopelessly outmatched, I can bring in one or two stronger units to make things easier on myself the next time I attempt the stage.

Just beat the game on Lunatic. Final boss was an asshole, maxed stats with Ignis and Pavis with near 100% activation, not fun. I have beat the game three times now, I am done for a while. I probably will not bother with Lunatic+.

The fact that the DLC shares the same map, which isn't even a new map is pretty gross

Well, the map likely was what cost the most out of these DLCs, production-wise. It's really the only new 3d model in most of them. The other cost would be mostly on the script and guest artist sides, but I don't think the guest art would be that costly... All the non character DLC have their own maps though, it's just the Download character DLC which share maps. So, maybe the guest artist were oddly costly.

Lethality (Assassin). Need I say more?

Nah, they're actually both pretty awesome. Astra is amazing, but I noticed my Assassin had unbelievable evasion in my first playthrough.

I'd say Swordmaster for Astra. You don't get bows though.

Thank you all.

So I just got this game last night and worked through the first two chapters before going to bed.

Quick question- when setting up my character I had it in my head that he would be a fighter type so I chose an advantage in strength and a weakness in magic. Sure enough, my character appears to be a magic user.

Will I have an opportunity to change classes or am I stuck with a magic user who is weak in magic?

The Tactician class can use both swords and magic. However, if you want to change classes, just get your character level 10 and find a Second Seal item to use on him/her.

Your avatar is a pretty balanced character all around, the strength and magic selection impacts more than just those specific skills too.

In the end, it really won't make a difference. I picked speed as my asset and magic as my weakness and my avatar is still plenty good as a magic user.

Anyone else get a Juri (SSFIV) vibe from Tharja?

Especially when her skill activates - the sound and close up on her face reminds me of Juri's Ultra.
