Would Inigo or Mia be fan favorites though?

Isn't Inigo the 2nd most popular male child character after Owain? Not sure if that counts as a "fan favorite" but he's at least popular. Can't find a PoR/RD popularity poll for the life of me though.

Mia better be. She's the best Fire Emblem waifu of all time.

Also, I totally forgot about why I popped back in here in the first place. Is there a general opinion on the Lost Bloodlines DLC pack? I remember hearing promising things about it before it came out.

You understand. =P

As for the Lost Bloodlines, it's pretty decent. LB2 gives you the badass male only Dread Fighter class while LB3 gives you the Paragon skill to give units double EXP if they need it.

Not really like there's much competition among the male children besides Gerome and Morgan.

Really? Her calling him "my love" in their c support, doing whatever she wants with his body when he's sleeping, and getting excited whenever she sees him is just for her research?
Obviously.

Neat. Thanks. Is it harder than the earlier DLC?

Mia is definitely among the most popular characters in the series. I believe when Sakurai did a popularity poll for Smash Bros. Brawl, the only non-Lord FE characters that made it into the big list were Caeda, Soren and Mia.

Sorry on that Mage stuff, not Lunatic, but Lunatic Reverse.
Mage Lunatic Reverse has been done before. Look up Paperblade's playthroughs.

If the RNG in FE12 screw folks like the MU, Caetra, or Marth badly, then you are pretty much screwed with *no chance* to make it right, unlike in the FE13 where you can grind to compensate.
RNG screwage is common in any difficult tactics game with RNG involved. In FE13 you have to restart ch1-4 dozens (or hundreds) of times for the RNG to favor you, specific enemy skill sets in Lunatic+ guarantee the entire level is impossible. FE12 requires little RNG to get an AAA rank as long as nobody gets extremely unlucky with growths. Averages win out.

On grinding: There's no problem with grinding as long as there's also a scoring system that rates your speed. FE7's S rank system for example.

FE12's final battle just requires some warp/rescue staves if you want to finish it quickly, you don't need to train up any specific character to defeat the final boss other than Marth w/ Falchion.

It has some promoted enemies, and they're in larger numbers than in the first set of DLC. They're still very weak to an end game party though.

The first map that's around the final ones in the story is Smash Brethren 2, and the first one above that is Rogue & Redeemers 1 which we should get this week apparently.

Finally, something to use my OP army on. The only thing that's even been putting up any resistance is Infinite Regalia.

The problem is that her entire character is centered around that crush. Even her child from another man talks about it!

Like most of the characters in the game Cordelia and her defining trait basically exist in an isolated vacuum in relation to the world around her. She's Catria 2.0, but where Catria was a soldier in an opposing army and would have gotten her knees smashed in by Caeda if she went anywhere near Marth, Cordelia is playing "Please Fuck Me Chrom" songs with her violin or whatever at his birthday parties and Chrom has a huge bachelor sign hanging around his neck, yet the two never so much as utter a word to each other.

It's really really dumb

Fortunately, I had already prepared a list.

Men:

  1. Chrom: There's not much to say about him, really. He's one of the most well rounded characters in the game, not just as a unit, but as a personality. While I don't really think his supports are (as a rule) all that great, he's just intensely likable, and it's really not at all a hard sell the kind of loyalty he inspires in his troops. And well, in much plainer terms, he's the ultimate bro. Every time MU starts going on about self-sacrifice, he's there to tell fate to shove it.
  2. Owain: Easily my favourite male child character. I think Owain manages to get away with so much because he's entirely self-aware about the ridiculous, overconfident hero persona he puts on. He's at his funniest whenever he comes out of character. The game recognizes that he's being silly whenever he goes on about his 'sword hand', or his self-aggrandizing stories, or his ego, and... so does he, really. It's what makes the whole thing work, he's a big kid who doesn't want to forget he's a little one, and it makes for a really entertaining dynamic.
  3. Lon'qu:
It's amazing how much a single support can do for a character. I liked Lon'qu for a while. He had amusing supports, a godsend in the early game (I made sure to stretch out that Killing Edge as long as possible, though), and one of the cooler character designs. Only when I actually started Lon'qu's support with Cherche did he go from a cool, occasionally funny character, to... one of the deeper characters in the game. I love it when supports start exploring character's backgrounds, and Lon'qu's reason for being so afraid to get close to women is... surprisingly tragic. It definitely colours all his later supports, and actually put him over the top for me in my appreciation for him, relative to the other male characters.
  4. Inigo: I dunno, I just like Inigo. His father was Libra, and that didn't exactly make for especially good stat gains or skill inheritances (although Inigo's father support makes a lot of sense with him), but the schadenfreude at his expense throughout his supports was always worth a good laugh, and I found his wannabe lady killer personality pretty hysterical. I'll admit, though, it's kinda jarring how he declares his love to Morgan (in my game, anyways, although why wouldn't you do Inigo/Morgan?) and then you do the rest of his supports and he's still flirting endlessly with women to no avail. I might have considered putting him a bit higher but, uh, his support with his mom, Olivia, is... kinda creepy?

Women:

  1. Anna: Going by my avatar, there's really no way you couldn't expect this. Anna is my favourite character in the game. I think I'm fond of the whole twist on RPG shop merchants in general, which probably lent some bias towards her, but she's incredibly likable (and perhaps one of the funniest characters in the game) all the same. I just wish that she had far more supports than she did, because it just feels like a lot of wasted potential - especially when the few supports she does have (particularly her Tiki support, more on her later) are absolutely some of the best in the game. I don't think she's an exceptionally deep character, but she's definitely one of the most entertaining. I know a lot of people had trouble keeping her (or her sister, same difference) alive in the Paralogues, especially on Hard, but for me, she was dodging guys like it wasn't even a thing.
  2. Morgan: I think it's pretty easy to go wrong with the whole amnesiac premise - that is to say that it opens the door for a lot of existential angst that the plot is generally unequipped for, and I'm pretty happy to say that Morgan (female Morgan, anyways) bucks such expectations quite admirably. She's just an incredibly endearing character, and her disposition is infectious. It helps that she has some of the absolute funniest, sweetest, and best supports in the game. Her A-Rank support event with Brady absolutely killed me. It's worth mentioning what a total goddamn monster she is in the game, too. She's practically a force of nature.
  3. Lucina: I really cannot see why anyone wouldn't like Lucina. As a unit, she's almost as scary as Morgan in her growth rates and her stats, she's a pretty grim character, all things considered, although given her situation, it's pretty easy to understand - she's pretty much the only one (besides maybe Gerome) that puts any sort of gravity into the dark future. She overextends herself, trains herself, prepares herself to, well, 'challenge her fate', and yet one of the simplest, yet most endearing moments in the game come from her indulging in shopping for clothes at the market. You wind up with a pretty well rounded, well motivated, cool character, and the game gives her the means and stats to back that up.
  4. Tiki: Her mission was probably one of the most irritating in the game - that is, until I figured out the trick, but the frustration before that realization was completely worth it, because Tiki is amazing. Aside from having one of the absolute best character designs in the game, she's a really neat perspective to the story, and her theme easily counts as among the best in the game. Much like Anna, that she lacks so many supports is truly one of this game's biggest tragedies.
  5. Cynthia: Apparently Cynthia isn't that popular? I dunno why, I thought she was pretty great. I mean, certainly as a unit, particularly with Chrom as her father, she's quite brilliant. I was freaking out a bit over a flying unit with Aether, and by the end of the game (with a 49% chance of activation thanks to her skill), she was triggering it like mad. Anyways, I'm quite fond of her, she easily has some of the best battle quotes in the game ("TOO SLOW, BRO", "THIS IS THE END, FRIEND", and, of course, her little victory tune) and I really liked all her supports. She's a really earnest, idealistic character and her supports reflect that. I especially really liked how hers and Owain's definition of 'hero' came into conflict in their support. What can I say, I like her.
  6. Cordelia: Between the first generation characters, I expect it'd have been a hard toss-up between her and Tharja if Anna didn't come into the picture as she did. I don't think there can be any doubt she has the best character design in the game, though, and I love a great deal of her support conversations. Kincaido has good taste.
  7. Tharja: I'm gonna spare everyone a bunch of words because everyone knows why Tharja rocks. Instead, I give you this.

3. Donnel
4. Gaius
5. Cynthia
6. Henry
7. Inigo
8. Morgan (Female)
9. Brady
10. Frederick

Though I dunno how Morgan (Male) and Priam will turn out.
Still too early to tell with Robin (Female) as well, like her so far.

Isn't Lon'qu pretty much like Navarre, with the whole aversion to women because of their death thing?

Although that might have just been the anime and I don't know

I'm gonna wait until we get all the DLC characters before I post my list of favorites.

There are two characters we are waiting on in particular that I am quite interested in.

I think right now Cordelia's pining for Chrom has been overly exaggerated by everyone in here (and anywhere else in the fandom I guess.) I mean, most of her S-Support with her potential husbands are alright and not really Chrom-centric, if Chrom is even mentioned that is.

And about Severa, even the game explains that the "important person" for Cordelia is not actually Chrom but her (typical Tsundere, always so quick to draw conclusion.)

It's just the clash of -narrative- and -gameplay- that screw with people's perception towards her, I think, the way the game doesn't acknowledge what happens in support conversations narrative wise in the story (just like Persona 3, where the MC can have girlfriends with all the girls yet the game barely acknowledge this) or in any other support conversations.

All in all, now that I think about it, Cordelia is a fine character and her supposedly negative traits of pining towards Chrom excessively I think is grossly exaggerated by the fanbase. At least she's not going all Tharja towards him.

So how do Spotpass characters dual system work if they can't have support actions? Do they just never get the bonuses that regular characters get to dual system?

I might make a female character for a new game, they have different dialogue then the males right? I think I'll play hard on that character, but I don't know if I want to do casual or classic. I'm a bit OCD, so I'd find myself resetting the game constantly when a unit dies.

It works exactly the same except their bonuses can never be as high as those who can support with each other, since support levels are only a single factor in how the bonuses work.

The dialogue differences between male and female are pretty minimal as far as I know.

My avatar is male but I'm probably going to switch to female on my next playthrough. Is there a male 'crush' character if your avatar is female?

I hadn't done anything with the Bonus Box until last night. I got a few free items and unlocked some paralogues and stuff.. but what does the Bonus Team feature do? Can you literally bring in all of those people to your squad? I didn't want to imbalance the game too much or throw something off so I didn't go ahead with any of the summons.

There's a limit to how many of those bonus characters you can have in your party at once, I want to say it's 20. You have to pay up or defeat them in battle to recruit them.

When you summon them to the map you have the option of fighting them. I mainly use those characters to grind. I have never recruited them into combat.

Doh! I just killed Cynthia by way of a counterattack with my character. I have him paired up with Lissa and both have Arcfire equipped. Killed her in one round. Guess I have to restart this one..

Since SpotPass characters have access to every class, female characters can class change to Valkyries and get the Dual Support+ skill. It basically makes anyone they pair up with act like they've A-Ranked.

Send a paired Chrom with someone who can take a decent form of punishment (unequip too!) and switch on next round. Cynthia get!
