What happened to redirect feature? Like if you were to type "neogaf" in the address bar, you'd be redirected to Google's feeling lucky page.
Also -- What is autoscrolling? I never notice a difference when I turn it on...

[edit]Looks like it was a hardware acceleration thing. I turned it off and that fixed the text, but am I missing out on anything by leaving it off?

Currently, I'm using a netbook with 1GB RAM. Should I avoid 4?AndyMoogle said:I'd like to know that as well. Unless you have less than 1GB I can't see it being a problem at all.

You can run Firefox 4 on PowerPC.Liquidus said:Well I knew this would happen sooner or later. I really liked FireFox 4 but it's not supported on my Mac No PowerPc support makes me a sad panda.

Andrefpvs said:Hmm, Firefox 4 doesn't support one of my toolbars. I actually wanted to get rid of it because I hate toolbars, but this one had a bunch of useful hotlinks to MS Word, Calculator, Paint, Notepad etc. that I used a lot.
So...
Is there any extension for Firefox 4 that allows me to bookmark programs installed on my computer to my bookmark bar?
I know that New Tab King allows you to add links to programs to your New Tab page. Other than that, I have to agree with the poster above me. Why not just use your taskbar or Start menu? Do you keep it hidden?Andrefpvs said:Hmm, Firefox 4 doesn't support one of my toolbars. You can easily change it if you want to, just right click on the navigation bar and disable "Tabs on Top"Sebastard said:Why did they put the tab bar on the top? Its easier when its right under the bookmark bar like its always have been. I dont understand either why Chrome does it.
Garou said:What is the best way to install Firefox 4 on Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04 and have it replace 3.6?
To do this, open up the Ubuntu Software Center, head to Edit > Software Sources and click the Other Software tab. Press Add and then paste ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable into the relevant field.
After adding the PPA you will be prompted to update your sources. Once done you can head to System > Administration > Update Manager to perform an upgrade

I prefer to have them on top so that I don't accidentally middle click a bookmark folder instead of closing a tab. Don't know how many times I've managed to do that.Sebastard said:Why did they put the tab bar on the top? Its easier when its right under the bookmark bar like its always have been. You mean the favicons?Rei_Toei said:Sorry if it's been asked before, but is there any way to remove the images in the bookmark bar? Half of the bookmarks I use a lot are not visible anymore because it's now showing the logos of the websites.

It's about far more than just that. It's about what is "logical". With the tabs placed on top (and other changes in UI) all the buttons, bars and fields that fall within the frame of your tab actually affect your tab, and nothing else. Everything outside of the tab frame affects your browser in general, but not the tab.Treefingers said:It's to use up he empty space at the top of the window & maximise vertical space.
Yeah, you don't really add new features to something if it already is a release candidate, so not much has changed, except for bug fixes.AndyD said:Mine updated last night. No different from RC1 that I can tell.

I've been using the Beta and now the release version for a while now and I really like the changes. I
Not sure if you can change the Firefox default hotkeys, but the web dev extension lets you manually set all of its hotkeys.Kawaii said:I have the webdeveloper toolbar installed, this has a hotkey (ctrl+shift+a) for validating local html.
But with FF4 this hotkey will automatically open the add-on window. Can i change this somehow?
So. I managed to fix all of the above issues with the exception of the blurred font (seems to be too many different ways with different drawbacks, I'll have to experiment some, but I'm starting to think that this issue has more to do with AA and AF than browser settings themselves since this work laptop isn't having any of the different font problems that I have at home). For anyone with the same problems that I had, the fixes below are for you.Darkatomz said:Tried it out last night. After a few hours with it, here's what I found that I don't like.
-No more titles at the top of the window. Sure, it took up space, but I'm not sure getting rid of it was the answer.
-F6 doesn't highlight the address bar anymore for whatever reason. I don't like Ctrl+L since I hit Ctrl+K sometimes by accident, which highlights the search bar.
-Text is slightly blurry due to hardware acceleration.
-There is NO ask for tab-saving upon closing the browser. I found a line change in about:config that fixed this, but what the hell?? WHY would you disable that by default?
Other than that, I can live with the changes. Any suggestions to fix this stuff?
