Firewatch |OT| With Me

When does the discount on the Steam store expire? I want to wait for more pc performance impressions before biting the bullet, but if the discount is pre-order only I'll buy it now and then refund if it turns out to run poorly on my pc.

When the game unlocks, I'd presume.

Come on PSN. I wanted to start playing this after I got back from the gym. Now gonna have to sit around doing responsible adult stuff till the game gets on PSN. Ugh.

I dont like the term, but is this another Walking Simulator or is there more to do? I love Walking Simulators, dont get me wrong, but I love when there is more to do.

Is it more like Everybodys Gone To The Rapture or more like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter?

Pre-play hypotheses are fucking bullshit. Most don't want to read them because they can ruin the game in their own way. Once you read something, it's stuck in your head and if it actually happens in the game, the impact is lessened by it.

This happened to me with Castlevania: LoS. Some dude predicted the ending in some thread months before the release. Then I knew that was exactly what was going to happen and it kinda ruined the endings impact.

So anyone who likes to hypothesize about the story can spoiler tag it because most don't want to read that stuff. They're in some cases almost as bad as spoilers.

Same thing with this game and
the supernatural stuff
people are asking. Many have asked and many have answered something with spoiler tags. Now I don't know if that stuff happens but if it does, I know to expect it and the impact is lessened. Great.
Then dont go in this thread when you cant take hypotizing, problem solved.

this is from a video a WHILE back so take it with a grain of salt cause i pretty much went on blackout after i saw it and knew i wanted to play it.

he patrolled the area, lots and lots of dialogue. interacting with things caused more dialogue. he found litter and a stereo and other stuff from people who were camping nearby CAUSIN A RUKUS. You could then do things like take their stuff, throw the stereo in the water, etc, which would cause the characters to react differently. then something mysterious happened which i wont mention and you go over there and explore that.

Hypotheses can be easily spoiler tagged. Like this:

"Next is pure speculation:
Your hypothesis here
"

Wouldn't hurt to do this and people who don't want to read these don't have to. We might still want to discuss the game in other ways.

this is just pure madness. you might not want to post in a game threads before you played the game.

So any reports if turning off the auto saving on the PS4 version helps with the stuttering apparently when it auto saves?

That actually sounds very cool and kinda like I expected it to be.
Can I roam the whole park all the time?

the way that video looked it didnt seem like the player was really "gated" too much or at all.

again i might not be the best to answer though cause what i saw from that video got me at least invested in the story and i was sold

So do the performance issues on PS4 make it unplayable?

I'm thinking of holding off until they patch it but I'd really like to pull the trigger on day one.

The discount runs through the Lunar New Year sale.

If the game runs poorly, just get a Steam refund. It's a pretty quick process.

No mention of the Plus discount on the European PS blog. So I guess we Europeans are out of luck? (Or is it an oversight on Sony's part)

What is it with these shitty unlock times on Steam, seriously.

Someone mentioned it's possibly down to the devs wanting to be around for the launch time to fix any issues, but I'd take a potential delayed wait for fixes over not being able to play the game in the morning in my timezone.

Why can't steam have a game that is pre-loaded go live the minute the clock hits midnight? :(

The devs have stated multiple times, in this thread no less, that they're launching at a time when the team can be in the office for support. Launching a studio's first game in the middle of the night doesn't seem smart when any number of things could happen. They don't have a publisher to take care of the logistics of this.

Sorry if that's shitty to you.

I'm prepping myself for tonight. I'm doing one sit-through of the game and recording it for YouTube. So, is it roughly six hours if you stick to the story only? How much longer with all the side quests?

That's fair enough, I just wanna be able to play it now! Too hyped.

Oh trust me, I want to play really badly. It's just disheartening to read these comments about the unlock time and for the people getting legitimately angry by the situation.

I'm leaving work early today...hope I manage to beat it tonight!

Maybe I've spent too much time in the OT but this is 100% common practice for the stuff in there (future books, movies, episodes, etc)

Its not a welcome practice in OT, either. Its just as annoying there as it is here.

Speculation isnt spoilers. You're not speaking from any sort of reliable knowledge base. You're just guessing, based on pretty much nothing.

That's not a spoiler, and if it turns out you guessed right, being right doesn't magically transform your guess into a spoiler. It was still just a lucky guess.

All your tagging of pure speculation does is make it harder for people to discern what's actually a spoiler and what isn't, and makes accidental REAL spoilers way more likely since people will get used to clicking the black bars once they realize that most of the time there isnt even any real spoilers behind em, just jokes and blind, off base guessing.

So when someone actually uses the tag CORRECTLY, then everyone is all pissed.
