Yea I think it's Def a game that starts off better than it finishes. I mean I like it but I'm ready to move onto my next game I'm almost done with the platinum but yea I agree the combat is super repetitive, there's hardly any animations just a few.
The map and weather system are top tier tho
At least it's greyed out when it's unavailableWhy is there an option to change seasons that never works?
Yeah that shit only works, when circle is either half full or went full 360.Why is there an option to change seasons that never works?

That's so pointless, because when these states has been reached, the game does that automatically as soon as a mission is completed or you fasttravel.
Same problem here, except Naoe is waiting for Winter instead to kill some group of raiders. There's more stuff that is simply not working, for instance I'm pretty damn sure that they said you'd be able to use Kunai or Shuriken to destroy lanterns, another lightsource that you frequently see. It NEVER worked. Not in my game atleast.I love the change of seasons as it changes up the world a bit, but then they went further and said "let's make it so some activities can only be done in Summer, etc." I'm done with the game. I have one trophy left to get platinum. I got Naoe standing in a safe house waiting for gotdang Autumn so she can take a picture of some fox at night.

well here's something for you. this could be spoiler about the winter related quest so don't say i didn't warn youSame problem here, except Naoe is waiting for Winter instead to kill some group of raiders. That's pretty neat to know, thanks. If I ever return to the game I'll keep that in mind.well here's something for you. this could be spoiler about the winter related quest so don't say i didn't warn you
actually not being in winter is helpful for the winter raiders quest. all of them are hiding in a cave together when not in winter. only in winter they spread out to different places. I don't know how but somehow I came across their cave while not in winter. and with yasuke they were no challenge
At least it's greyed out when it's unavailable
Unlike other systems. Want to switch characters? Well, get ready to hold down a button, except we won't let you know if the character is available until you've already committed to the press
It's a terrible design choice
I haven't swapped my equipment much during my 50 hours with the game, so I haven't run into that issue yet. But it seems consistent with the overall feel of the game lolYeah, same for changing weapon inventory. I've had random moments where I couldn't change out a weapon for a something newer, better.......just because. No warnings or being in a hostile environment, etc. Just "nope"
Why is there an option to change seasons that never works?
Ubi: a hotkey to change literal seasons but nothing to simply change time of day in your stealth infiltration game.
I swear to god in the way the seasons progress it takes like 15 in-game years for this game to finish.
While I'm waiting a couple of hours for Autumn to come back around, I'll give a short review of the game. Overall....disappointing. The story is ok, but I'm not going to spoil anything. It is.....fine. Naoe is a good assassin and a good character. Great choice for a Japan AC. Yasuke is out of place and I dreaded the sections that forced me to play as him. The phrase "a bull in a china shop"comes to mind.I think he would be great as a side historical character much like Hanzo, but Ghost of Tsushima did a much better job of melding the shinobi and samurai roles than Shadows. I did like Yasuke's character and story. Just not as a main character. The way their story converged worked well I thought, but I just didn't find them compatible as co-main characters when I only want to play as one of the two: the asssassin. Far too much contrast. Should have just stuck with Naoe.
Combat in Shadows wasn't great. GoT also had far superior combat. Not even close really. Ubisoft overcomplicated everything in Shadows while Sucker Punch took a simpler approach, which is what benefits GoT over Shadows across the board, imo. Like the absurd skill tree. 12 different skill trees. 6 for Yasuke and 6 for Naoe. That is ridiculous for an AC game. Whoever designed this sought out to make it the most complicated AC game ever. We see this also in the absurd season and time change system we have beeng talking about. Stupid ideas that are entirely unneeded.
What was good was the stealth. It was pretty standard stuff, but thankfully not overcomplicated like combat. This is what AC should be, imo.
This game literally feels like it had 10 different people designing it with not one person leading the way and deciding what needed to be left out because everyone's ideas were included. I feel like everything in this game could have been halved and it would have been a better game.
I set out to finish this game and get the platinum and that's what I'll do in about a couple of hours while I wait, but this game was ultimately just mediocre. Had the developers focusing on making half of the shit in this game as good as they could then the overall game would have benefiited. Instead so much was poor thought out and either not implemented well or should have never beend done in the first place. On the average, this game is exactly that: average. Isn't entirely bad, but it isn't very good either. Which, to me, makes this the worst Assassin's Creed game since AC 3.
5/10
Why go for platinum if the game was mediocre to you? I wouldn't go through the misery. Regardless if I was a collector of plats or not.
I'm still in the early hours of the game. Not sure if I'll ever finish it, but I'm enjoying it for the time being.
Palliasso I tried adding all the images here with the new uploader, but two of them failed right of the bat, so I still had to do those off-site via imgur

Wait. You can't force the season change in the pause menu?I love the change of seasons as it changes up the world a bit, but then they went further and said "let's make it so some activities can only be done in Summer, etc." I'm done with the game. Fuck these tombs, I mean I really enjoy labyrinthian stuff, but Jesus Christ, found one that made me hate everything, I wanted to strangle whoever designed it. I think these were just randomly generated and just thrown in for something extra.
Wait. You can't force the season change in the pause menu?
The whole seasons stuff is strange.Only when it is actually time for the season to change. You can't advance it before then. Pointless
More or less, the story in this game is horrible.40 hours in!
I got a good few hours yesterday and good progress. Game grabbed me again after I enabled guaranteed assassinations and enabled "guided mode", so I don't have to guess where next objective is. I got tired of doing that.
Gotta say the main quest to get all she shinbakufu is tiresome. They are all... the same ? A dude, In a castle.
I've got only 3-4 left.
So these +naoe and Yasuke quests are the only main quests you have to do?
More or less, the story in this game is horrible.
The first act is fairly good and has pretty good production values with the story.
After that, it's a mess. Story is more or less smaller story arcs for each shinbakufu member about why they should die and how they're a horrible person bla bla bla, a majority which are trash and low quality.
More on Naoe's backstory and Yasuke's revenge arcs are rushed and played as an afterthought rather than something meaningful.
I enjoyed the game but the story and what they chose to prioritise for the main storyline were bad. Give Naoe and Yasuke proper story arcs following on from the first act with high production values and the game is far better than it is.
I am doing the last kufu member I can (other than two who cannot be taken as a mission yet) and it's repetitive and it makes no sense how some of the plot points connect in these sub missions.More or less, the story in this game is horrible.

Play Unity. Skip Syndicate. Play Origins. Skip Odyssey and Valhalla. Pretend Mirage doesnt exist.I am doing the last kufu member I can (other than two who cannot be taken as a mission yet) and it's repetitive and it makes no sense how some of the plot points connect in these sub missions.
There should be way more on assassins stuff. As it is, most of the mission feel like side quests.
The 2 main characters backstory missions were good though.
Although… while I like two characters in this game, I think naoe is clearly the main character and it's all about her. She should be the only playable character and a bit more fleshed out.
Having multiple playable characters complicates things and makes nonsense at times. I hated it in gta 5 too.
It could use more focus with just 1 playable character.
Although I am playing yasuke more because he is stronger. But his gameplay got nothing to do with ac. I like him being fish out of water but they are not playing much into it.
And then you have to manage 2 inventories, upgrade both, engrave both, both use different materials to update. Cmon.
The game should be 50% smaller and 1 character. Next yeah other character could have his game.
Also, the story is just not that interesting.
I've not played any ac past black flag.
Should I play one of them?
Ac shadows looks great, parkour is ass though. Movement is clunky unlike old games. But I still enjoy the game. It's impressive at times. It's like a 7-8game. Maybe closer to 7
I did one the other day where it kept giving me a choice of two paths to take. One loops back to the start and the other progresses on. But there is not clues as to which is the correct path. It feels like it was just designed to waste your time. No challenge to any of it either. It's only the second tomb I did and made me not want to do any more.Fuck these tombs, I mean I really enjoy labyrinthian stuff, but Jesus Christ, found one that made me hate everything, I wanted to strangle whoever designed it. Skip Odyssey
Skip Syndicate
Skip Odyssey and Valhalla

I know exactly what tomb lolI'm pretty sure I know exactly which tomb you're talking about; It has a slide that brings you down to a water pool, right?
If so, it does have clues. The clues are the horse statues above the cave passageways.
Anyone got an ideas how to make one of the guards ring the bell to summon the elite enemy?
I'm just running round like I'm in the Benny Hill show - nobody will climb the ladder and ring the bell.
Sounds about right. I have unity and origins already for some reason. So why not.Play Unity. Skip Syndicate. Play Origins. Skip Odyssey and Valhalla. Pretend Mirage doesnt exist.
What?I'm so confused. I see people posting about how gorgeous this game looks and then I boot it up in balanced mode with PSSR on my LG G4/PS5 Pro and all I see are graphics that are super disappointing and underwhelming. HDR is washed out, flickering foliage both near and far, and a very unstable overall image. My TV was professionally calibrated too. Are there some magical video settings I'm missing?
Completely agree with you on this. The lighting in the tombs is complete trash and no amount of fiddling with graphics settings seemed to help.Doesn't help that I can't see shit in those tombs
Sounds about right. I have unity and origins already for some reason. So why not.
I thought mirage got good rep?
