As a designer, I am okay with the design and size - it is not particularly my cup of tea though, because I am much more fan of clean, minimalist, functional and unobtrusive look, and am a fan of MS's recent design language since Xbox One S and One X. This would stand out as a design piece more prominently than ever, though. Stark contrast multiplied by flowing curves and its physical size - it will have a strong presence no matter where I put this.
On the other hand, the photo shows the size of the machine almost 47cm (around 18 inch) It's like 8cm (around 3in) bigger than official spec from the other day... even though it did mention the largest extruding part of the "fin"s and all?

Enjoy parking this garish piece of shit in your living room. My advice is to just smile through the shame when your guests point and laugh at it.
Or you could replace all your furniture with gamer chairs, empty cheetos bags, dirty socks, a broken glasstop hand-me-down coffee table from your late grandma, lava lamps and bongs so you get a nice feng shui to match the energy this thing is giving off.

Made to stand. Looks alright. A tad smaller would look better on my TV stand. Anyone that doesn't have a white or black, even natural wood stand will be in for a nightmare tho...
Not sure I would do horizontally since the fat side is on the left. But more so than that is the sticker with the model info being the eye sore (you could technically remove it but guaranty?). That sticker should be on the back along with the ports period. They overlooked that.

Looks so much better vertically, although I have no clue how people are going to fit that thing standing up in their entertainment centers. Horizontally it looks... bad? Something about it laying down looks off.

Is it now? it wasnt when ps4 first came out. I just figured it was the same as at ps4 launch. I know steam will detect it if its wired but dunno about BT

Im playing DS through bt with it. I think bt support in windows was added a couple of years ago? Anyway, its working and with no real issues.

This is a dwelling design site. But airflow is airflow. If you read it you'll probs get a hint why the shape is what it is.
"Size of openings
Largest air velocity happens if the inlet is small and the outlet is large. The total force is acting on a small area and forcing air through the opening at a high pressure. If the inlet opening is large, air velocity will be low but the volume of air passing in unit time will be higher. Therefore, large inlet openings are desirable when the wind direction is not constant, or airflow through the whole space is required.
Wing Walls
To increase the cooling effectiveness of natural ventilation techniques, especially on sites with low outdoor air velocity and variable wind directions, it is possible to incorporate wing walls into the building design. Wing walls project outward next to a window even a slight breeze against the wall creates a high pressure zone on one side and low on the other. The pressure differential draws outdoor air in through one open window and out the adjacent one."

Looks absolutely terrible, the stand is the shit nugget on the cake. Why does a console even need a stand to be horizontal. Got two on preorder, going into the cabinet and not to be seen again until 2023 PS5 Pro replaces it.

In my case it was way easier. My girlfriend was Fine with me spending around 4500 reais (900 dollars or more) for a PS5, specially when I used the argumment that there are many people who spend the same or more for a ridiculous Apple watch wich is Just an accessory, and she agrees.
I also Said its like getting a PS4 as well due to backwards compability, and my PS4 is broken since january and a New one is almost half that price here.

PS4 fat is the most beautiful and elegant console ever created bar none. Love other retro console designs like supernintendo and mega drive. But in morden times, original PS4 is king for me.
As for PS5, I'll have to get used to It. Did not like It at First, but its futuristic look is cool in Your living room. The problem is the size.

I think that does not matter. Equal airflow in either position.
I'll have it standing free vertically without any obstructions for maximum airflow.
Very high expectations when it comes to quietness of the console. I expect it to be super silent. Cerny I'm watching you.

You snooze, you lose. Their communication department has been doing a noticeably bad job in showcasing the console hardware and console software features. If it wasn't for PlayStation's brand popularity, those guys would be in big trouble.
The console itself still looks strikingly futuristic. It's curved in an exaggerated way that looks almost cartoonish, but once you see the 'V' for five it becomes even more impressive that their hardware design team was able to pull it off. Fantastic design.

Blu rays should be much more resilient. If you're using DVDs for BC it might be an issue, but that's not a problem for PS5
