just back from seeing it. i've saw all the other craig movies but couldn't remember shit about what happened so was a bit confused. overall enjoyed it. i know it's Craig's last movie but
wish he got a better send off than getting fucking bombed
but whatever. it's not to be taken seriously anyway cause of course he's not really dead. a new actor will be announced soon. i've seen people hiss and howl that a female should get the role next. nah, James Bond should always be played by a male. they kinda played with it in this by making the woman 007 but you can't go full on making the main character a female. do a spin off or something if you wanna do that. Bond is a male character and it should stay that way.

What did you think of the ending? I think it’ll enrage some people here who won’t actually watch the movie but instead rely on out of context YouTube videos to enrage them. But I think it wraps up this Bond well as they were kind of doing a serialized Bond story for the first time and it gives it a definitive ending.
I’m a bit conflicted about the ending. I admit it does wrap up the Craig films nicely, I’m just confused how ‘JAMES BOND WILL RETURN’ - James Bond is a character, a person, a name. 007 is a title that someone else can take on, and already has. So the next movie can only be a retcon by bringing Bond back

It’s not like the studio said that she was the new 007 or anything like that.

They didn't say that. They just said she was a spy or agent. It was the tabloids who spread the bullshit that she was replacing Craig.
It wouldn't have made much sense for a existing (aging) Bond after his fourth movie then do a reboot, origin story. Would have been out of place.
Opening scene would've been a flashback to when he got his 00 kill based on one of two Fleming stories.

Nah it'll probably be another soft-reboot like Craig was, giving whoever is the next Bond their chance to put their stamp on it. They always have done that since Dalton, who was a VERY VERY different Bond than Moore.

Hmmph. Not as good as I wished this would be.

It indeed felt a bit too long, and even with that being said, it also felt very rushed. Seems that they tried to cram absolutely everything in, resulting in somewhat scattered pacing. All the woke stuff could have been easily left out, and the overall vision tidied up a bit. Now it had both legs in the past and only Craig's hair in the future figuratively said. Craig feels like only a ragdoll amongst all the things constantly happening while being the only constant with new characters without proper introductions coming in and out.

In many ways it felt like Spectre 2.0, which was exactly not what I was expecting with a new director after Spectre back in 2015. There's plenty of that forced aesthetic and flavor from the 60s/70s Bonds, and very little of what came with Casino Royale, for example. But I guess that's understandable since this is Craig's final Bond movie, and old knots had to be untied. Taking any new radical turns would have probably been risky.

But still, some better overall vision, visuals, context and self-awereness (in a non-woke way) would have been needed at least for my taste. But I guess I might already be getting tired with the nonchalant, somehow physically mutilated Bond villains living in zen mountain missile silos or where ever. Give me some relatable, normal bad guys next time instead of one-eyed or teethless albinos.

The difference being Craig’s Bond is, as far as I know, the only Bond to die on-screen.

You have this backwards. Bond MAKES you famous, you don't have to be famous first to be in a bond film.
This.

But it also damages any future career as if you are a successful Bond, then you become synonymous with him to a degree. You get paid handsomely as compensation mind. And Bond has to be an older person, so once you're done with him the number of roles you're going to get are going to be lower anyway.

4/5.

I only judge it as a (Craig) Bond and as a film in general, so a 5/5 would have been possible without it being a masterpiece. But there were some unclear/loose ends and Deus ex machina that really didn't need to be there. And there was some woke shit shoehorned in. Malik didn't get enough screentime.

But the action was top notch, the girls were beautiful, the villains entertaining enough, some decent gadgets and cars, and the story believable enough. I was well entertained.

Should have been a 007 -

..You know it's true.

Just to add, Daniel Craig always just looks like a polish builder to me, i've even worked with a polish bloke on site who looked like him :messenger_tears_of_joy:

There was no bait. You're confusing tabloids/trade speculation for studio PR statement. The studio never said they're replacing Bond with a woman. The Broccolis won't let that happen.

We're seeing the exact same thing going on with Indiana Jones right now. Despite the studio officially saying Indy 5 is the last movie and them repeatedly saying they aren't replacing Harrison Ford in the role, people are choosing to believe YouTubers and British tabloids spreading bullshit claiming they're replacing him with a woman.

What if the next movie is a transgender dude named James?

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
But does THE CAR get treated with respect? I want that vintage AM to be used for half the film and not just for one scene then get destroyed as an afterthought. Now that we actually have gadgets that older bond films could only dream of the new Bond movies almost entirely eschew them.
The DB5? It does get about 15 minutes screen time.

There’s a few OHMSS references. The song and for those that have seen OHMSS, there’s a scene (spoiler free) when Bond is chatting to M and the theme tune for it is playing in the background which I thought was odd why out of all of the films did they choose OHMSS.

There are people who think OHMSS is the best Bond film.

Nolan has said it's his favourite, right? I've seen a bunch of people praise it in recent years. I haven't seen it in forever, I should go back and rewatch it.

I have the big 50th anniversary Blu-Ray boxed set they did. I need to pull it off the shelf and watch that one again.

Hoping for a sale on the digital versions next week so I can fill out my collection digitally. Only have the Connery and Craig movies in 4K digital right now.

The original leak, maybe. But just look at the number of PR articles that followed with that actress “making history” apparently. The studio milked that shit.

Saw it yesterday, liked it a lot, easily the best Craig's Bond right after Casino Royale, the pacing, tension is great, writing aside just a few monents also holds up, so does the acting. It actually exposes how bad, boring and uninspiring the last three movies were. The saddest part was that Ana de Armas was on the screen only for just a few minutes, she was smoking hot in that black dress.

This was a GREAT movie. I really enjoyed it and I'm super glad it lived up to expectations.

It's not perfect, most noticably the antagonist's motivations are very unclear and inconsistent and the movie gets a little sappy at points, but overall it's a good story with solid pacing, action, setpieces and absolutely beautiful cinematography. Man the visuals were insane, so many gorgeous camera shots.

Those 2.5 hours flew by.

Also mad props to Ana de Armas, she was pretty incredible [and incredibly pretty] and I hope we'll see her again some day.

How was it? was the black lady holding the 007 title at any moment in the movie?
See below spoiler-tagged bit for details. I'm sure they will but I really can't see how the outrage merchants can justify being mad about her character in this.

Like a lot of people thought, she's just the person that's been given the designation of 007 after Bond retired and has been off the grid for years to the point where M assumed he was dead. Bond gets the upper hand on her a bunch of times, so it's not like she's shown to be much more competent than him. She even willingly gives the 007 designations back to him unprompted because she thinks it's the right thing to do.

I really enjoyed it too. I thought the same about the villain's motivations but still enjoyed the film overall. And yeh, holy shit Ana de Armas is hot.

They'll feign outrage by making 10+ minute videos that completely omit everything in your spoiler tag in order to anger people and ensure they come back for the next video.

If you don’t know who Eon is then you shouldn’t be making wild bullshit statements about the James Bond studio.
The only bullshit statement here is to think that PR explicitly comes from a PR company. The Guardian, Harper’s Bazaar, Indiewire - all have articles praising a black woman playing 007. This is not coming from them making articles out of rumours or leaks.

Yeah these bullshit outrage campaigns on youtube are often based on non definitive news articles that they use to spin their fan theories trying to make it a fact about a movies plot.

I remember they did the same with Shang-Chi and a few others. If it wasn't about a woman in the movie, it was about a race swap or something else... They're already doing it with Indiana Jones 5.

There is a lot of actual sjw stuff to complain about in the world nowadays, but stuff these channels latch onto and try to spin is simply often outrage for outrage sake.
