I can't put in words how bad I think this movie is after seeing it. I like a lot of movies that many people consider bad like terminator genisys. This movie has the rare trait of having nothing fun, memorable or good about it. ( I guess how bad doom looks is memorable)

You all say you want it to return to Marvel but what the hell is Marvel going to do with it?

Three's 3 (4 if you count the old ass movie from the 90s) and they're all garbage.

The brand is tainted why would Marvel want this back? If they do get it back I garuntee you won't hear about F4 for a long time, definitely post Infinity War, several phases even.

Fantastic 4 sucks and that's Fox's fault, Marvel isn't even going to bother.

For villains and other characters like Galactus. Doom in the MCU would kill.

The villains would be the big win for the MCU

Especially since alot of cosmic stuff is tied up with the FF
Doom, Galactus/Surfer, Annihilation, Super Skrull

Bump.

The film now stands at 8% on RT, making it the worst-reviewed comic-book/superhero film adaptation ever on the site (based on this list of superhero/comic-book films with mediocre/poor reviews Galador compiled and posted pages ago). Meanwhile on Metacritic, it stands at 27, tying with Catwoman as the second worst-reviewed comic-book/superhero film adaptation on that site (again, based on the aforementioned list), only Superman IV: The Quest for Peace holds a lower MC score at 22.

A bit of an over reaction but yeah... not a great movie now that I finally saw it. Kinda had no heart or personality behind it, definitely better than some of the other crap movies that have been made though.

As much as I don't like F4 as a property even in the comics, they really just need to make a normal movie if they ever do one again. Stop with all these weird for film adaptations of Dr. Doom and whatever. No more origin story either, just start us off in the middle of it, give us a 30 second narration of how they got their powers, there is a super evil dictator from another country with tech and magic prowis above Iron Man and call it a day.

That said Sue Storm outside the F4 and interacting with other heroes is a badass woman, toss her into the Avengers nonchalantly and I'd be into it.

We need to go 4% lower...

The Fantastic 4% RT.

At this point, it doesn't seem like the reviews can get any lower and at the same time, it's already clear just how much critics despise the film.

You might have to settle with referring to it as "Fantastic (4x2)%."

But that would require another reboot and I don't think the public is in the mood for that.

Marvel Studios probably wouldn't have to if they were to retain the F4 rights, seeing as Marvel Studios isn't going to attempt an origin story for Spider-Man. But how that's going to work is up for debate and come the release of Captain America: Civil War.

The Fantastic Four could also appear in Infinity War or cameo in basically any Phase 3 film since Black Panther's first appearance was in the Fantastic Four, as was the Inhumans, and Amazing Spider-Man #1 featured a Peter's first run -in with the Fantastic Four.

Maybe then they get to kick off Phase 4 with their own Fantastic 4 movie, setting the stage for the new threats moving forward. Skrulls, Annihilus, Galactus, Doom, lots of potential.

After/with Infinity War, the Fantastic Four could be the group to really link the cosmic stuff with the Earth based stuff. They could be the driving force between creating that link and be the go-to Earthlings who keep tabs on that stuff. I mean, at this point the cosmic is GotG jurisdiction, the Avengers are concerned with defending Earth, they could use an Earth-based team that is concerned with cosmic goings-on.

Hopefully, they will make a great movie that not only represents the characters well but is also a very entertaining film. I for one would absolutely love to see the F4 done right on the big screen, I think there is a huge potential for some amazing cinema there. I don't even think Doom should be in the first film, focus on the family instead. A character like Doom needs his own movie to introduce him IMHO. Maybe make Doom's movie first?

The F4 done proper in a cinematic and cosmic Marvel, makes me all warm just thinking of the possibilities.

Maybe some day we'll actually get to see it.

Holy shit, so this is even worse than Silver Surfer? Man, this franchise is doomed at this point. I don't see Marvel picking it up anytime soon after the damage Fox has done. Maybe in a distant future, but three shit films in a row is a lot of baggage.

The connected Space characters are very valuable for Marvel.

I don't see how they can't make connections in other ways storywise. If anything, Marvel so far did greatly in making a shared universe while not even owning the film rights to some of it's major characters.

Sure FF would work really well within MCU and I would like it, but I think it would be wise to give the series a bit of breathing space now, business wise. But I'm sure there are some idea's they fit in for when this cycle of films with the current cast is done, so here's hoping.

The film had awful editing with characters just vanishing and had no action till the end and what they did to Doom was nothing but facepalm worthy.

But

Film is no 8%, I've seen far worse films in my time and FF was watchable with some decent ideas.

A Rotten Tomatoes percentage indicates how many reviewers thought it was a bad movie, it's not a review score average like IMDB or Metacritic. A well received but average movie could hypothetically get "good" scores from every single reviewer in the US and have a 100% score. A genuinely excellent but controversial movie could get a 66% RT score because mosts critics would like it and a smaller number would hate it.

If they were to get the rights back, say, this year, there's no chance they'd even think about making a Fantastic Four movie any time soon. As you've said, the brand is toxic.

However, characters like Dr. Doom and Silver Surfer can absolutely appear in something like the post credits scene in GOTG 2. That creates excitement. They can make the characters of that universe work in the MCU without even mentioning the Fantastic Four until, like, 2022.

If the original vision of the film (which is more or less intact for the first half) was seen through to the end, it could have been somewhat decent and interesting. But no, Fox gimped it and made the latter half intolerable and a plain example of a greedy cash grab. The best thing about this film are the subtle Nintendo references, but that's it.

I finally watched this while on a long flight, and holy fuck that last act/fight was some of the worst shit I have watched this year.

What a blah movie in general.

It really isn't that bad. Generic for sure. But it has moments that are well done. I liked Dr. Doom in this and his rampage.

Holy shit. What the fuck happened?

The film isnt as bad as people made it out to be. Maybe I went with too low expectations? Nah, not really. The movie is half decent, especially the build up. It felt like an origin movie and they did some parts very nicely. However the movie also feels rushed and the change is jarring. Dr Doom doesnt get much screen time and the set pieces, action sequences and stakes dont have universal appeal. None of them are memorable.

What I liked about the movie is that there is some seriousness to the movie and unlike kid friendly Marvel approaches to other franchises. Its like the writers and director wanted to give a BB touch to it and the production kept pulling them back to the regular Marvel fare and the movie is neither.

Despite all this, its way better than the trash (FF series) we got earlier.

It started out as Chronicle Harder and then it got turned into a 90's X-Men cartoon episode at the end. In the middle, nothing happened. Truly bizarre.

I'm surprised it was still there.

Maybe one of the cleaners noticed.

They were going down the list for 2017 like, "OK, Wolverine 3 for some reason, Kingsman 2, Alien: Covenant with Ridley, Planet of the Apes 3, the Croods 2 because fuck it....uh why is the Fantastic Four still on here? Have the investors seen this!?"

I really need to watch this. Being tied with Catwoman as the biggest bag of arse means only Puma Man can be worse
