I'm not even a Fantastic Four fan. I think the team is just a tad too campy and old-fashioned for me.
.

Read the Hickman run on the characters. It is awesome, and just the right balance of old fashioned fun and high stakes stuff.

And of course, it leads into all the awesome Doom stuff we have now like the last pic you posted.

And this guy was going to direct Episode IX?

"Join the Dark side of the Force..."

"What If I say no?"

"....Say Yes"

... But their comic license is tied to insanely great characters I DO love, like The Silver Surfer, Kang the Conquerer, Super-Skrull, and my favorite villain of all time, Dr. Doom.

FOUR movies, and we have NEVER seen THIS guy done justice:

Ugh. He's just such a GREAT VILLAIN.

Come to think of it, it's only 6 reviews, for all we know the next 100 could be fresh reviews. So far it's not looking good though.
Movies that start with bad reviews usually almost always end with mostly bad reviews. There are rare exceptions, but not many.

Well this is zero surprise after hearing what a whiny coked up twat he was on the set.

Chronicle was good but it wasn't THAT good.

Meh.

Wasn't really showing any interest in the film to begin with, but when I read about the films apparent troubled production (i.e. the re-shoots) I was fully bracing myself for them opinions by the time the film would be released.

And good golly are the reviews harsh! (Currently seeing it at 17% on Rotten Tomatoes as of this post).

At this point of the year, I got my superhero fix in Age of Ultron (which is still a decent film to check out) and Ant-Man (which astonishingly blew things out of the water lol).

I see what you did there.

But yeah, as stated before, 2015 is just the quiet before the storm as far as comic book movies go. Two solid comic book movies (one of which was a surprise favorite) & a bad one, with Star Wars aiming to end the year off on a high note. Hopefully 2016 delivers on the hype.

,,to be fair it was the studio who directed.

Also, using Jedi mind trick is the only way that conversation isn't shit

Don't tell me I accidentally made an ant pun lol.

And yup Star Wars is looking to be great, and also looking into checking out the Peanuts film and Good Dinosaur (I still need to watch Inside Out).

Too bad it turned out to be the worst possible thing: a run of the mill comic book movie. First teaser seemed like it would be different from that at least. Guess not.

Tales to Astonish was the comic that Ant-Man (Hank Pym) first appeared in.

(In the voice of Star Butterfly) Ohhhhhhhhh.......

But anyways, just watched those linked video reviews; always be sure to check out the thoughts from an audience perspective and not just from professional reviewers.

There were 2 overwhelmingly negative reviews from some of our fellow GAFers.
So I had mentioned earlier that I had a positive review of the "rough cut" I saw a while back and I had the "privilage" of seeing the final cut last night... Fuck.

I don't know what I was thinking when I watched the "rough cut" but my opinion did a complete 180. The effects didn't improve a speck from the rough cut, Doom was a fucking mess and offensively bad and the story, which I previously enjoyed on first viewing, just seemed hacked up to shit.

So yeah, without saying anything that could get me in trouble, the film is a botched mess and will go down in history alongside X-Men: The Last Stand and Spider-Man 3.

Oh, and the humor? There was more here than I originally recalled but it's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen levels of shitty.

Oh yeah, one more thing to edit in, my favorite scene in the entire movie, a highlight action scene with The Thing? Cut. Gone. Why? Because the effects for him weren't up to par so his scenes were snipped.

Final opinion on Fantastic Four?
4/10. No thanks to the sequel.
Its difficult to be specific about the film before the embargo and stuff. But without seeing it again, I'd give it a 3/10. I mean I'd rate thor 2 as a 5, but as a vastly superior film.

After seeing thor 2, I wanted them to go back to the drawing board and make it better. After seeing this, I want them to never make these movies again, ditch the actors and the setting they create, and negotiate with Marvel.

@Neoxon

Those 2 other reviews certainly help on whether or not to I should do some negative word-of-mouth.

It's simply baffling that despite fan backlash and all the questionable stuff the makers were doing, the studio would already announce a sequel waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the release date.

Even Marvel Studios wasn't counting chickens when they were making Guardians of the Galaxy, though they did announce the sequel the day before the film was released but that was when the hype and positive reception was apparent.

And the worst part is, the Marvel website makes no mention of the F4 reboot and they literally list the Howard the Duck film lol!

Well to be fair, they also don't list the next Spider-Man movie either.

Welp. I'm definitely not seeing this. I was really hoping we'd be getting a decent fantastic four movie. Maybe if this bombs, Fox will just give up and sell the rights back?

I don't get the hate for 2005

2005 is as campy and fun as Ant-Man but everyone hate 2005.

I like 2005

it's really really really stupid.

Then again new TMNT is stupid and I liked it.

not to mention how 2005 has THE WORST LINES, worse than the original corman film.

"Susan let's not fight"

"No, Lets!"

"Susie stay out of this.."

"Keep it up and I will.."

And it looks like it just might be topped by this movie's lines.
