Mirror saying the CM is De Jong

I think he's exactly what they need. Herrera is powder-puff and needs someone beefy next to him, not wraiths like Fletcher.

Di Maria, Blind and De Jong and United will be in the thick of the top 4 battle this season.

I can breathe a little now.

United are getting their act together though :/

Best case scenario we get Maria, a Cm and another Cb, we wont be a force for a few months, all the new players have to fit into the system, a new team that already is shakey and those there already will take a minimum 3 months. We arent suddenly going to find form the week after the window closes, its going to take a mammoth effort to get fourth, a really good run in the new year.

Still, optimism is nice for a change.

Would happily take De Jong and Blind too.

Shaw, Herrera, Rojo, Di Maria, De Jong and Blind would be a solid window.

No matter what happens this summer has been awfully managed again and we do not have our act together.

Will be true even if we sign Vidal and Benatia now.

This is not how it works. You identify targets, line them up, do the deal - all well in advance of the season. Like Chelsea did.

This is all haphazard stuff. Not how you run a club. God only knows what else is happening at the club and how stuff is being managed.

On paper:

Rafael --- Jones - Evans --- Shaw

------------ Herrera - Mata ------------
Di Maria ----------------------- Rooney
--------------- Van Persie ---------------

Is a top 4 team.

Long way to go yet though.

Hamburg is always worth a travel

Balague:

"As soon as Di Maria knew of Manchester United's interest he was very excited about the possibility of coming to Old Trafford.

"At first Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in signing him and said they were prepared to meet his wage demands of 8m Euros a year net but the deal offered by United was much more interesting to him.

"Firstly, United is a club with much more prestige throughout Europe, and secondly, it’s a new project where he knows he will be one of the leaders. Cristiano Ronaldo has also told him some great things about United and has succeeded in persuading him that it is a good option even though the club is not playing in Europe this season.

"He is also very excited about the prospect of working with manager Louis van Gaal and everyone is expecting that the deal will be closed soon.

"There is agreement between the club and the player and it is expected that the announcement will soon be made official because the positions of the two clubs are thought to be very close. United accept the valuation of the player above the 60m mark (Real paid 36 million to Benfica in 2010). The final cost of his transfer will depend on variables.

"There is absolutely no chance of Di Maria staying at Real Madrid, because despite just about everyone from all the players to the technical staff rating him very highly, Real Madrid have decided, primarily via their president Florentino Perez, that Di Maria cannot carry on at the club."

How has Guillem Balagué become reliable all of a sudden?

If it was just him, but all the papers were briefed, this is clearly calculated reveal, that makes me think this is true.

what happened? Who played? Who fucked up? Evra?

we're out, I totally forgot about the game :lol if we can call it that

Evra, Licht and Ogbonna are all to blame, apparently. I wouldn't know, haven't watched a single pre-season friendly, don't plan to start now, lol.

What's happening with Cuadrado?

He'll go the way of Jovetic. He won't sign for Juve, like the gods intended, and his career will take a turn for the worst.

Is Di Maria gonna be on £200k a week at United?

United wage bill must be getting sizeable, 2 players on half a mil a week between the two of them.

You have to drop one of Rooney, RVP, and Mata. If United use a winger system, none are better than Adnan on the wing. Rooney and Mata can't dribble past players and don't have that explosiveness.

Sell Rooney to PSG and play Adnan in his place.

My ear really hurts :(

No it's not. Also, Balague isn't the only one talking about the deal, and he's been right plenty of times in the past, so I'm not sure where you're coming from.
I'm just a bit shocked that people are putting stock in a known bullshiter who wouldn't get a look in here just a couple of months ago.

Sure, Woodward has probably been talking to the papers, but lets not let darkness take us.

Pointing out that DEAN hasn't put out a United rumour doesn't change that.

I have to agree 100%

Di Maria is practically a gift from the heavens and in any other circumstances he would've landed somewhere else, Herrera should've happened a year ago, and Shaw looked like a no-brainer until Gaal came in and switched shit up. Heck, the whole dance with Evra 's new contract/departure was a part of that uncertainty.

Nevermind the 2 months dancing around Vidal, when it even looked Juve AND Vidal himself would come around, and turns out "United never really showed interest" let alone a formal bid for a player they absolutely need.

Getting the signings done last minute, even if they turn out solid, is in no way how a club as big as United should get business done. Bad decisions like that can easily turn a "transition period into the top spots again" from a 1 season problem into a much longer one.

Rooney looked odd last week, first half he kept picking up the ball and trying to shoot, failing. Maybe he was following orders, he certainly didnt come back and collect like he usually does.

Is Magath destroying Fulham or whats happening there?

He's a terrible manager but they're doing what lots of relegated clubs do and trying to use young players. They have a great youth side so it's not a bad idea long term, but it will be 2 or 3 years before they come back up.
