I knew this debate was coming. The facts speak for themselves. Real were reduced to either crossing the ball to the centre (which they did score from, thanks to a basketball leap from Ronaldo who was being marked by Evra who is probably half a foot shorter than him), or taking pot-shots from outside the box, which were closed down quickly, blocked, or saved by De Gea, who made one incredible save and a number of routine ones. United, on the other hand, got in behind Real on several occasions and had the best chances of the match. Evra was clear through on goal before the ref bottled what was a clear red card, Van Persie had a couple of great chances, as did Giggs, and we looked dangerous at each set piece.
It was a close game and United got their tactics and selection right, or at least more right than Real, and as a result United have a slight advantage going in to the second leg, where the tie can still go either way.

Madrid yesterday were not as deadly as I expected them to be. At Old Trafford they will have a harder time surely. United's defense + De Gea on goal - almost as good as Juventus' defending if not equal to it.
I don't know why Mourinho seems so confident that United will all out attack.
Carrick did very well. Not one thing wrong from what I can remember. He played his part right. Most Utd players were quite impressive last night.

Neat and tidy I'd say.
Lack of real outlets on the wing or from Jones made him less effective than he is when playing aongside Clev, but had decent passing stars considering the tempo of the game.

Yeah he did but he was very quiet. 14 passes in 45 minutes. Second half he was better, still made those crucial interceptions, he was good.

He is called "Sir" Alex for a reason. His tactics are brilliant. I certainly won't miss him when he leaves - *not* because I want United to fail horribly, but because I'd rather have United be a lot less stronger than they are now - basically have them as a top 4 team duking it out evenly with the others at the top for the title rather than have a 9-15 point gap for instance. He adds so much value to the team. I'd feel so much safer with him as my manager.It is as you say Football Fan - my love for Mourinho is based on what he did for Chelsea, first and foremost. I still think he did many stupid/idiotic things though. It's a strange thing, being a Barca and Chelsea fan.
