Took my R34 Skyline down to the dock place at the bottom left of the map last night (when I was meant to be going to sleep) and earned the 14 skill points needed to max out all of my skills.

Someone earlier said that the courses were the same regardless of what championship you chose. I mean, I'm sure there's a bunch of overlap, but it feels fairly specialised and I'm on my third championship (excluding the mandatory first two).
This is what I've done:
- Rally Group B Monsters (mixed + offroad)
- Extreme Offroad (almost entirely offroad)
- Extreme Track Toys (entirely asphalt, no offroad at all)
Do they ever make you offroad a supercar, for example?

- Pretty sure the PS4 to XB1 owner ratio on GAF is like 5:1 lol

I think the reason there are so many more posts in the DC thread, is because everyone is arguing about the review scores or server issues. Thankfully, I havent had any issues with Horizon 2 at all (although I know other users were having issues with VIP stuff at launch but I think that has been resolved now).
I've been playing the hell out of the game but I've barely posted in this thread. Plus a big chunk of what I've seen posted about DC this week is bitching about the PS+ delay.

One question: do clubs unlock at a certain driver level or something? Its greyed out for me and always has been. Me and my friends would like to start one...

They unlock after the 3rd championship and showcase event. I was confused too!
You have to complete 2 (or was it 3?) championships and the showcase event that comes after beating those 2 (or 3?) championships.
edit: beaten, and I guess it's 3.

I've been buying a bunch of cheap cars too. I'm at about 130 now. I'd do it all in one sitting if buying was bit quicker.
I was trying to find the least direct way to point out how funny the disparity is.
I said so before and I stand by it. Every time I do a non offroad championship in Castelletto I'm finding myself on the same three lap circuit that was in the demo. Castelletto High Speed Circuit.
Now what's strange is there is at least one more lap circuit in that area, Meadow Circuit. And I haven't had a single race on that course over 12 championships. I wonder why that is (might have something to do with car classes cause the only lap times I have on that track are from D and C) But I swear I have Castelletto High Speed Circuit in every single one of those championships except maybe one or two. Yes, they switch up the TOD but it's still the same course.
And then you have a huge amount of races that are almost identical. There's this one point to point race where you go towards Nice along the coast. Near the end you enter the tunnel by the bridge, then turn right through some village. There are two races that have the exact same route until the very end. Except in that village one route goes left and ends after 200 meters and one route goes right and ends after 500 meters. And I think one of them makes use of the dirt road next to the coastal road and the other does not. But 95 % of those tracks is just identical.
I'm at 30 championships total now and it's just grinding.
You could just buy the cheapest one over and over again. It only counts number of cars, not variation. Should cost you less than a million that way.
Console wars, review score reaction, server issues, and it's a PS4 game; not surprising.
I love when you transition from dirt to asphalt in cross country races. Just the combination of your tires suddenly having grip again, the drastic change in visibility, your view that stops bouncing around like mad. It's like coming back down to earth.
Then you floor it and bolt towards the finish line.
Also, fuck seeing where you're going. Cockpit off-roading is absolutely intense and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I agree with you Krilekk, the championships are definitely repeated.
I've tried mixing it up with cars I buy but upon returning to previous areas I swear the races are the same.
It doesn't detract from the enjoyment, but it's a little shallow in the experience.
"Oh, I'm here again, time to do this course again".
I'm still massively enjoying the game though.

Anyone else tending to buy mostly high-seating-position vehicles (trucks, SUVs, etc.) because they enjoy the cockpit view AND being able to see over the grass when going off-road?
I did sort of the same thing in FM5, as I enjoyed the cockpit view in that game, but I don't like the muffled sounds and reduced field of view that entails in the closed cars, so I mostly just buy open cockpit cars in that game.
I think there are just a lot more active PS4 users on this board. Many Xbox users (like me) left NeoGAF for awhile because of the absolutely toxic environment over the past year and a half. The mob mentality was fascinating to watch, but not something I wanted to get involved in... since I'd be on the wrong end of the mob.

I noticed last night that our club has 1000 members already...how long has it been that way? Hit it quick..lol.
Outside of some small hiccups, FH2 delivered what most of us wanted (and more). Not a lot to fuss about, and that thread is full of fighting and fussing.

I've noticed this also and I find it bizarre. There is a huge open world that is rock solid 30 FPS no matter where you go... what would be so hard about making a TON of varied courses to drive? Hopefully they do something to allow users to make their own courses and share them with others.... I mean, all the online stuff is in the Cloud. I could see some absolutely devious routes being designed.
Well, we are at NeoGAF, one is a thread about a PS4 game and the other is a thread about an Xbox One game. Do the math.
For me so far the Veneno has been the best in terms of balancing speed, acceleration and handling. It doesn't necessarily have the top line speed you can get out of some other cars (I think mine tops out at around 235) but it gets going quickly and it's pretty easy to handle. The Ultima is pretty awesome too but it's not as easy to handle.

The 100% best car in the game for acceleration is a fully upgraded 1956 Lotus Eleven. I have no idea what its 0-60 time is but you can wheelspin from stationary in fourth gear. It's also surprisingly easy to handle with AWD, probably because of how light it is.
Awesome. I loved that bucket list, car looks so badass too.
Think I'll go with that. I love the p1 but it's cheaper I can easily get that after (I think it's cheaper).
Isn't there a Bugatti or something with the highest stats? I think it's also the most expensive. It's so ugly though :/

Ever since the game crashed twice on day one and two, it has been perfect. Made it to the finale championship and what an epic final race. I hope there will be special events dlc because racing the trains and planes were so got damn fun!!
My only pet peeve is the draw in and lod issues. They are not terrible but enough to distract every now and then.

True. Sometimes it's really bad. Try going 400 km/h in a GTR/Venom/Veyron on the highway and after the tunnels you'll see the whole world including the road loading in.
I don't know why they didn't include the highway in the showcase events. Have a VW Beetle going slowly from one part of the map to another on the highway while you do the same offroad. Or have you race boats to the Nice harbor. Or a zeppelin. Or have some kind of rally super stage. But most of all where is my 1000 club content?

I just looked it up, it was 6 months after the release of Horizon that the 1000 club expansion came out.
True statement. I've always driven in third person for just every racing game I've played in the past. This one has all been from the cockpit view and it's absolutely glorious!
