Wow, Infineon's backdrop looks gorgeous :
*pics*

They look a teeny bit washed-out and 'cartoony' to me but I guess they are early WIPs.
Very relieved to see greenery at infineon though - I had big fears about it being a big beige dust bowl.

Nah, it is not yet September, you know the month of Tokyo, the month of Frankfurt, the month of gold, the month of content, the month of you know what!

frankfurt motor show and tokyo game show.

they confessed indy and infineon, so there's more, and it's probably features, certainly not cars or tracks.

Or is it 12 in SP?

Well they supposedly didn't get rid of it as they've said that the A.I is still based on that and that they actually "train" the A.Is. It's a shame that they didn't include the drivatar mode for us in Forza 2 and 3 though, it was very impressive back in the days in FM.

nice to see the unannounced (officially) tracks - cant wait to see them after some polish.

Yep - compare these to the official recent release shots of Hockenheim, there's a huge difference. I know Infineon is more... rustic than Hockenheim, but he quality of the assets and textures (and especially the lighting) on the German track is so much better.

Looking forward to some official final code shots of this one and Indy, I think the improvements will really stand out.

BADNED, how old are these recent images anyway?

yay for less saturated colour schemes!

If anyone has actually been there, this is what it looks like. It has the same atmosphere as Laguna Seca. Also still shots never do driving games justice.

It should be pointed out that the guy was showing off his modeling, that's why some shots are far from the road, in places less detailed and where you normally aren't supposed to be. If you look at the screenshot BADNED posted, you can see that around the road, there's a lot of "3D" grass for example.

The new forum appears to be up on FM.NET!

You can actually see who is posting, it's a miracle... ;)

Thank goodness they dropped the blinding polar white theme. I can drop one of my style sheets.

finally cars receiving some blue from the sky, now red Ferraris look the way they should. In fm3 that 458 would be pure red FF0000 and completely ignore the surroundings.
There were colors you just had to avoid in fm3 if you wanted the game to look good.

Some very low res shadows in some of those screens...which could mean.....dynamic lighting ? Nah, just early probably, i doubt there's any dynamic lighting

Good job g-rom, fm4 pics are scattered everywhere, there's no other website hosting all the pictures released so far, not even fm.net

Wasn't the "rossa" (Ferrari red in NFS games, red in Itallian) wrong in FM3? I kept choosing a slightly darker red because it just looked wrong in the menus.

it looked wrong because no matter where you put them, they would always look like they would being in a white room with white lights on them.
Metallic colors generally looked better because they had some incidence angle based gradient, which made shading look less flat on cars.
These Ferraris receive just the right amount of blue-ish tint they should. Congrats T10, seems you nailed it this time.

This :| Wtf...?

rendering more cars isn't the problem it seems.
AI and physics is what's limiting the amount of cars in a race.
Opponents in fm are not simple drones moving along the track (they are in a number of racing games).

Looks 3D to me, looks like really good 3D and it isn't the cartoonish green that it used to be.

I wonder if Rossi will be even harder to deal with :D

It really creates a great illusion when they're playing bumper cars with YOU.

at least they have shown 12 players on single player, maybe some races will go to 16

Update:
Forza Garage Round 1: Fans of the golden age of Le Mans racing will appreciate the sleek lines and unparalleled competition pedigree of the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, 1966 Ford GT40 MkII, and 1967 Ferrari 330 P4.

Hopefully this will force Turn 10 to quickly release some official final-build shots of Indy and Infineon, because a lot of those old unpolished 3David shots do not do the visuals any favours at all. I hope the final sky box for Infineon has some clouds in it too - the one shown in these shots looks a bit like the FM3 Nurb F1 sky, ie as if they forgot to do one at all. Totally cloudless skies (even graded ones with haze) just look wrong to me somehow in videogames.

Indy I'll let off the hook considering its historical significance, but they better have a good excuse on that behind the scenes: infineon video of choosing that track over spahurst

It's Rossi, not Rossa, Ty4on. M. Rossi will not tolerate this, prepare to be ramed during your first single player race FM4. :p

You need clouds in your sky to make it believable ? Shit, I must be living in a weird place then because there are a lot of cloudless days during the year over here. :p

Edit : You live in the UK, no wonder why you find a cloudless day odd. :lol

So, you don't have to render physics for other players online? And if you don't and just display positioning then what do you do in case of collisions? And even still that doesn't make sense.

I have a hard time thinking AI takes that much memory/processing power.

looks good to me. Keep in mind camera angle and position in those pics is something u'll never see in the game

well..erm...i would imagine your xbox takes care of your car's physics (telemetry etc) and not 12 or 16 cars' at once ?
i don't know how collisions are handled, but again i think your xbox would just take care of events involving your car.

Ai takes a lot of processing power, and we're talking a 4 cars difference anyway, not twice as much. And anyway...i have no idea, but there must be a reason and this makes the most sense to me :)

Tell that to PGR4.

Also +1 to a Forza companion app for WP7.

Glad! I only own a Gen 2 RX (or GX) 25th Anniversary (which is basically a fully optioned end-of-life Gen 2) but I think that will be my second car... either sedan or wagon. But in Australia it's called Liberty :)

PS. So Indy and Infineon are unofficially confirmed then? Why isn't there more excitement about this?

Seriously it can do, depends what you make the cpu think about and how often, it can really swallow up that spare processing power quickly.

Online the game just needs to make the car look like its still on the road with suspension travel and stuff, that kind of thing still takes resources but not as much as some good AI.
