Fox Removes 2005 and 2007 ‘Fantastic Four’ Movies From Amazon and iTunes

Fans who were planning on rewatching the Fantastic Four movies from 2005 and 2007 had better find physical copies. 20th Century Fox has removed the film from two of the world’s leading streaming sites, Amazon and iTunes. The reason isn’t malicious. They simply don’t want fans to get confused when they hopefully start to look for information on the Fantastic Four reboot that opens August 7, directed by Josh Trank. Read more about the journey of the original Fantastic Four movies below.

The Hollywood Reporter first notice and reported the news. Their source said the reason for removing the films is to not distract from the new movie, which is “seeking to establish a different tone than the previous releases.” Once the new film is available on those platforms, probably in the Fall or Winter, Fox plans on putting 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer back online.

Stretch me if old.

"Let's not give people a chance to see how we screwed this up before."

More likely is the newer movie is probably even shittier than the previous ones and they don't want to have the Man of Steel effect, where it caused a lot of Superman fans to look at Superman Returns in a better light and say the newer movie sucked.

I saw the trailer for the new Fantastic Four movie when I saw Age of Ultron, and it didn't look good at all. Just your standard "world in crisis, need some heroes to overcome their person problems and work together to fix it" fare without any special hooks or special heroes to make it interesting.

Dat all digital future.

This too.

Welcome to a world without history.

new fantastic four doesn't look as garbage as the old movies were, i'm pretty damn sure it won't be that bad either.

but it certainly seems pretty dull.

That's impossible.

No redeeming qualities in F4. Just shit.

Yeah the new one does look pretty damn dull. Least the 2005 one had some amusing bad to it, and that can be better in some way than something that just really dull.

Wouldn't surprise me.

This wouldn't shock me at all. Nothing in the new trailers has me excited for this.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
Marvel must be so damn frustrated they had to sell the rights like they did...

I actually enjoyed the first one. It was light-hearted campy nonsense, which I think there is some room for in the works. Silver Surfer however... that really was a stinker.

They're doing customers a favor. Let those of us who were there tell the tales to our children of this totally botched film franchise... Let them not suffer the pain of witnessing that ridiculous Thing costume, the utter shitstain that was that version of Dr. Doom, and the astonishing failure that was Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Who the fuck says that dumbass shit?

I know Man of Steel is divisive and it brings out the worst in Superhero-GAF, but to say it's worst than Returns is trolling at best, and outright insulting at the worst.

I liked the 2005 movie. It was fun, and still looks way better than the reboot we're getting.

I have...no strong opinion about the Silver Surfer movie. :p

Oh okay people are already jumping to conclusions that the movie is going to be awful and somehow magically worse than the past two.

Ahh, the "Shining Force" approach to marketing: name your product something it was already named in the last 10 years, then delete and block anything you can find about the old product.
