Frustrated by no first-person perspective 'look mode' in GTA: SA

GTA III and Vice City had a mode where you touch the right analog stick and you can look around freely in a first-person perspective. i did this often because i loved taking my time and looking at all the seemingly millions of items, objects, textures, etc. in the game.

now the question is, why the fuck was this mode removed in San Andreas??? god, it pisses me off. it seems like such a simple thing to implement in the game, so why the fuck did the developers take it out?

the right analog stick in San Andreas now moves the stupid camera around. why couldn't the developers put in the option of choosing a first-person view in the 'Options' menu?

there was no reason for them to take it out. it's a cool game, but i can't enjoy the game as much as i want to because there is no first-person look mode.

It's there... Sort of. There's a behind the back 3rd person view, and certain weapons allow for a 1st person perpective while targeting.

Almost all 3rd person games use the right stick for camera control which also impacts player control. The way VC has it set up if you want to walk perpendicular to the direction you are facing you have to run towards what you cannot see and then wait until the camera orientates itself or you do your turn and then manually snap the camera behind you. Sure, there should still always be a 1st person look in a 3rd person game but the way VC had it implemented was ancient.

yeah, i realise i could use the camera, but i shouldn't have to use ANY item to go into that view. besides, when using the camera there's a circle or something in the middle of the screen, and the view is limited in some other way i can't remember. not practical at all.

the developers should have given me the option of using a first-person perspective free-look mode with the simple press of a button, just like it was done in GTA III and Vice City. what pisses me off is that it could have EASILY been done.

May this go down in the Great Book of Gaming Law:

Any game that features environmental immersion as an important feature should have an optional first-person perspective. No exceptions.

i like to take my time in my games. i like to stop and look around at the environments and appreciate and enjoy all the little, different, and subtle graphical elements in my games. i always have and i always will. and i do this by going into a first-person mode, where there are absolutely no other obstructions on the screen, just the things i want to take my time and look at. i feel like i can't do this in San Andreas, and it's a shame. because of this i even thought about trading the game in for credit. but i can't... it's a really cool game.

I way, way, way, way prefer using the right stick for camera control myself. It makes gameplay a lot easier.

I'm struggling w/ MGS3 for that very reason.
