I hope the arya/hound shenanigans last a while, besides the north it is my favorite part of the show.
The calm and almost lighthearted tone is a bit jarring having just rewatched season 3. I felt the episode lacked gravitas, to a degree, ranging from the aforementioned tone to some of the performances. In terms of the latter, I have to say, the intriguing charisma the previous Daario brought to the table is completely missing in the new Daario, along with the chemistry he and Daenerys had begun to develop almost immediately after meeting. Not a fan of that recasting, so far.
So not the strongest episode, in my eyes, but certainly not bad! Solid build up/set the pieces episode, all in all. Very much looking forward to next week.

Yeah they're all Wildlings. But if you remember in Season 3 Mance talks about gathering the wildlings to march on the wall so they can get South. He says something along the lines of convincing them that they have to work together otherwise they'll all die. He mentions the Giants, the Canibals among others and that they speak 7 different languages in his army.
Something along those lines anyway, I just re watched it the other day but I can't remember exact word for word.

It is, it was suppose to be Jorah's but he was exiled, so he (Commander Mormont) gave it to Jon. It originally had a bear hilt which he had refitted to be a Wolf.

I agree with this tbh, the casting is so jarringly different in tone and looks that it feels like a different character. I guess by the end of the season we'll know if the re-cast fits better with the character's arc.
The new guy is hotter though.
The chemistry between Arya and The Hound is fantastic. Also, "I understand that if any more words come pouring out of your cunt mouth, I'm going to have to eat every fucking chicken in this room." is one of the greatest lines of any TV show I've ever heard. Fantastic.

I understand why it was said, I'm just saying it felt like there was a lot of dialogue in this episode to refresh people's memories or for new people to the series rather than something more natural.
They did it with Tyrion as well.
Rewatching, it needs to be pointed out how much better that fight that ended the episode was than anything that's been done in the show. Maybe it was due to the close quarters obscuring how shit most the people are at swordfighting, or maybe everyone's actually gotten better, but it was one of the few times with the series I've seen a fight and not been immediately distracted by its low quality.

Idk, it doesn't seem to have any special properties from other steel. If it does, they're keeping it quiet. From context, I assume it's just really fancy material.
THIS WAS AWESOOOOOOOME. When that prince said lannisters aren't the only ones who pay their debts...the look in his eyes! I'm looking forward to more of him. Seems pretty cool. And did we know that they disrespected Sansa's mother's corpse as well? That was so sad to hear. But the "I'd rather have no brain but two balls" comment was pretty funny! I'm not sure how I feel about that new Dario, we'll see.
I think that's exactly it. Close quarters, dark, and can't really see the small details of sword fighting. Plus the sound effects were well done to give the clanging of steel at the correct times.
You have to remember, this is a show after all, not going to spend months sword training for a 1 minute scene.

Peer pressure mostly. (I'm watching the season premiere with some friends now)
I only remember a few key parts of the show but it just seems like they jump around so much within the hour. Am I just crazy or what?
There's a lot of holy shit moments, a great lore that is mostly not in your face, interesting characters, great dialogues, etc.
But if you don't like something, other people explaining to you why they like it won't make you like it aswell... this is a mistake I see a lot of people at GAF doing ("explain to me how's that fun").
You should probably stop wasting your time, 3 season worth. If you can't get into the story after that amount of time, bail out.

If you can't get into the story, how is someone supposed to explain the hype to you? Wouldn't you never understand it if you've watched this much of the show and still don't like it?
You have to watch it from the beginning of hte series to get into the show. You won't like the show until you've rewatched Seasons 1 through 4.

another reason is that the show is goddamn fucking gorgeous, from the costume design to the set design to the various locations. I find myself getting lost in scenes due to how much detail on the characters and in the background, and often have to rewind because I missed a few lines of dialogue.
episode was awesome as usual. tyrione and arya are my favorite characters and the hound is getting up there too. last 10 or so minutes was fantastic, the hound and arya have great chemistry

I'm a little worried about my girl Arya though. I know those guys she killed were scum but she seemed to enjoy it a little too much. The Hound is awesome however. I just hope Arya can maintain her moral compass.

So... That Dorne guy that stabbed the Lannister fool's hand is the uncle to Daeny? I'm assuming that it was Daeny and her brother (that got a gold crown) that were his sister's kids, right? Then again, he seemed to indicate specifically that they were killed and desecrated. /confused
Also did find the Daario replacement a little jarring, but I liked the new actor in Treme a lot so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Also, I could swear I had seen that Dorne guy's bastard consort before, what else has she been in?

I thought the Targaryen house was covered throughout the series, particularly the last king. Regarding Oberyn's sister, this was a first it was mentioned about her and her hubby and there fate.
