The casual fans didn't know who the 2nd one was either because he looked like some generic Lannister solider and had like 2 scenes. At least this guys properly massive and has got his old gear back.

Ahh, finally watched this last night. I always experience a touch of post-new GOT depression, but they've been killing me lately with the ending to these episodes. The extra week is like salt in my wounds.

I know this has already been discussed, but I'm not really feeling the casting of the Mountain again. He's way better than the last guy, and he's definitely the right size, but he's way too young, and almost somewhat handsome. I know it's not the show's fault the actor left to be in that dumb Hobbit movie, but he had the perfect appearance. Ugly, rugged, with soulless eyes...basically, the monstrous appearance you want for a character like that.

Oh well, regardless of what happens in the fight it's pretty clear he won't be a major role. Just minor bitching. Everything else is top notch.

Stressed about the potential Arya/Hound vs. Brienne/Pod meet up. I don't want anyone there to get hurt. ;_;

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Oberyn's sister was killed because she was married to the Mad King. Does this mean that she was Dany's mother and Oberyn is Dany's uncle ?

Unofficial tips and guide on how to minimize risk of book spoilers.

-Avoid Youtube comments. Mostly any comments for that matter
I was watching an unrelated gaming video months before this season started and there was several dozen upvotes on "LOLZ KING JOFFERY GETS POISONED." I was furious. Probably the only major time I've been stabbed in the kidney by book spoilers. Be wary of internet comments in general. I've also seen Game of Thrones book spoilers on porn sites. That's just pure evil. You might see something like:

"yeah that girl sure takes that cock just like Robb took one in the chest by Roose Bolton."

-Do not lookup characters names on Google
I advise not even Google searching any character in particular because the search results have the potential to spoil a character's death. Type in a name and you will more than like see:

Blah-b
Blah-blah kills Derpy
Blah-blah dies
Blah-blah poisoned
Blah-blah death book 5

-Avoid the subReddit.
According to some people here, there was a page hack-jack that took you straight to a page with major Game of Thrones spoilers. I've never experienced this thankfully. I've been linked to spoilers in random posts, but I instantly threw my laptop away with reflexes and speed that would put Bruce Lee to shame.

-Subscribe to this thread.
So that you don't accidentally start reading the Book thread like dozens of us have.

Extreme measures/scorched earth/spoiler paranoia/insanity

-Do not even access this thread. Avoid it altogether.
There will be the occasional "HAY BROS, ROBB DIES TONIGHT" guy. The mods will usually black bag him immediately. Pretty rare, but still a danger if you're that paranoid about spoilers.

-Access to the internet is cutoff between episodes. Contact your local service provider to set up arrangements.
-Block all websites other than HBOGO
-Move into the mountains. Only come down to view the latest episode.

- Seal yourself in an isolation chamber with an IV drip monday through sunday night, and for the entirety of the offseasons until the conclusion of the show.

I'm pretty touchy on spoilers, even the predictions bother me a bit. I don't know if people are "fake predicting" just to beat the spoiler system, so I think I'll take my leave.

Non book reader here and that's where i am right now, after the few people 'guessing' about who the champions would be being right or the poison necklace etc. I am starting to get a bit wary about coming in here to be honest which is a shame as I love coming in and seeing how everyone else reacted to the episode in comparison to myself.

HBO "spoiled" the champions themselves with the episode titles.

I kinda just attribute it to a numbers game. Dozens of gaffers trying to sound clever = 1 or 2 picking up on the right visual clues.

then I would suggest only reading the pages during and immediately after the show. Jump to the last page 10 minutes before the show > watch show > read gafthread for a few pages > repeat.

I can see how spoilery-issues-guessing can arise during the week.

Not even video games are safe. Got spoiled a few times from playing Chivalry:Medieval Warfare (but I think most of the community there are GoT fans, so it's not surprising that the conversations go that way).

no no no no no.

S2 was probably the worst season, although it was still really good. The pacing of each episode was terrible, they tried to get in too many scenes per episode and the quality of the show suffered.

S4 is currently the best after season one.
Agreed on Season 4. I like Season 3 the best, Jaime's revelations, Theon's comeuppance and the craziest ending to the series yet made it my favorite. 4, 3, 1, 2 in order of my preference.

Didn't Tywin say that it was the Crown vs Tyrion or something? I was under the impression that it wasn't a 'personal vendetta' from Cersei so to speak since it was regicide and something that the throne would want to get investigated anyway.

Both the fact the a king was slain and the accuser is Queen Regent give cause for the case to fall under the crown's purview. For Cersei someone she despises killed her son, it's beyond personal. But Tywin is just exploiting the entire thing by allowing it to through official channels.

He knows full well Tyrion didn't kill Joffrey. However putting him trial got Cersei to agree to wed Loras, in hopes it would convince him to kill her brother. It got Jaime to agree to assume his duties as heir of Casterly Rock in hopes it would convince him to save his brother. It gives closure to Joffrey's murder, so that Tommen doesn't have it hanging over his reign. And of course it gets rid of Tyrion, who Tywin sees as an embarrassment to the family and one of the few people smart enough to get in his way. Pretty brilliant, actually. If all had gone according to plan he would have gotten everything he wanted and would be free to rule the realm with his hand up Tommen's ass.

Let's get the thread back on track by which I mean shift the discussion back to the television show.

1) If you see something that you think is a spoiler, please don't start pointing fingers in here as it derails the thread. Send me or another mod a PM and we'll take a look.
2) General discussion of spoilers (the nature of them, the time your friend spoiled you, how you don't think the rules are fair, etc...) isn't particularly relevant and tends to take the thread in the wrong direction, so please avoid that as well.
3) Book readers should use the other thread for discussion. Read the rules in the OP carefully and keep in mind that a ban at this point might mean that you'll miss both E3 and the end of this season of Game of Thrones. From the OP:
The bottom line is that this thread was created for people that haven't read the books to enjoy and discuss the television show. Keep their interests in mind and let them enjoy the show on their own terms without constantly pestering them. In general, there isn't a good reason for book readers to post in this thread.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM. Let's get back to talking about the show. Thanks.

I would love to know who Tywin thinks actually done it. Surly he would be making descrete inquiries into who, he couldn't leave that hanging.

Unless the evil bastard was somehow complicit himself. I wouldn't put it past him.

I keep thinking it will be revealed that Tywin had a part in it, but then I keep remembering that Littlefinger is involved and I don't think those two scenario's quite match up, meaning, Littlefinger's storyline would make much less sense if he had backing from Tywin and Tywin knew of his involvement.

I think it may be more likely that he either knows or is suspicious of the Tyrells involvement and is keeping that information to himself, as Joffrey's death actually is a great benefit to him.

What happens if there is a 'double ko'? Both champions kill each other do we go back to another trial or is there arena fight round 2?

Yeah I agree. I think he could have a good idea of who, how and why and is now using the situation for his own advantage. I would not rule out the idea that he may have known in advance something was going to happen either.

Maybe Oberyn will win, but become disfigured during the fight.

Remember when he was talking to Varys about not having balls? And how he can't imagine having life's pleasures taken away from him? Would be interesting.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Oberyn's sister was killed because she was married to the Mad King. Does this mean that she was Dany's mother and Oberyn is Dany's uncle ?

The Mad King Aerys II married his sister, which was the normal Targaryen practice. They had 3 children: Rhaegar (the heir), then Viserys, and last Daenerys.

Rhaegar was married to Elia Martell, Oberyn's sister. They had two children.

During Tywin's sack of King's Landing, The Mountain killed the children then raped and killed Elia. Oberyn wants justice for those murders.

So that would make Elia to be Dany's sister-in-law. I'm not sure if that would make Oberyn a brother-in-law or not.

Bloodborne is shit
How has Little Finger already done all he's done without anyone catching on? Especially with Varys out there and his network of spies.

I don't see how that spoils things.

Just makes the show even better when you know little things like that.
I agree with you. It's nice to know the tidbits of GoT but it's unfair to add it to this specific discussion.

This is not meant to be harsh in any way but if you want to know the little things read the book. Keep that stuff to yourself and away from this thread.

:)

I'm sorry, I'm just paranoid about people slipping up and adding spoilers.

From what Bron said to Tyrion, his strategy to beat mountain is to tire him out and then land a killing blow. Obviously he also says one wrong move and he's dead. My point is that the mountain is definitely beatable and show makes it a point.

Still not sure what to expect because GRRM is a sneaky snake. But I will stand by my earlier comment that Twyin will somehow determine the outcome.

Looks like Oberyn will be using that same strategy. In the preview he's got a long ass, spear-type weapon. Should be able to use both agility and range against the Mountain, avoiding his powerful attacks and getting shots in from a distance. Basically on some Dark Souls shit, I wouldn't be surprised to see some tactical rolling, too.

Cersei will die the same way her evil son did. Lady Olenna is set to poison her, this makes it easier for Margaery to seduce the new king. Tywinn increases the hunt for Sansa, Jaime leads this hunt believing Sansa had a part in his son's and sister/lover death.
