His one job was to torture a confession out of Clegane, helping Tyrion was just a means to an end. He got what he came for.
I don't think getting his head smashed like a pumpkin was apart of his plan.

So did the Mountain likely die also?

Yeah well ruling is tough. That is what they are showig with Danerys. She cant just keep walking into countries, kill the masters and free the slaves and go about like nothing happened. She will be tied down for a while.Dany, no matter how hard they try, is disconnected from everyone else. Her arc has been boring ever since 3.04 when she Dracarys'd Kraznys. That was the peak of her story and it's been downhill ever since.
I doubt it since they made a big deal about getting this new actor

That's what's so great about it! Oberyn got what he wanted, but had it cost him his life and turned on him because its the last thing he hears before a horrible death.I don't think getting his head smashed like a pumpkin was apart of his plan.

so correct me if I'm wrong but the second to last eps of each season have been pretty noteworthy:
S1-Ned dies
S2-Blackwater battle
S3-Red Wedding
S4....? I wonder if we are due for another big battle episode. We haven't really had one since Blackwater
Oberyn absolutely did not get what he wanted. He already knew the Mountain did it, he wanted him to confess AND give up Tywin as having given the order, and then he wanted to kill Tywin.

It looks like it's gonna be another Blackwater type episode. The entire preview focuses on the battle at the wall.

Am I the only one conflicted on the whole Oberyn vs. The Mountain thing? On one hand, I want Oberyn to win. I want Oberyn to get his revenge, I want Tyrion to live, it would be absolutely tragic to see both/either die, and The Mountain deserves to die as much as anyone. On the other, I almost feel it would be out of character for the good guys to win yet again. There's all this build up for the Craster's Keep mission, with Locke as the ticking time bomb waiting to explode...only for Locke to be unceremoniously ripped apart, and everything to go completely smoothly. Joffrey is poisoned. Dany is at the peak of her power. In general, things are going pretty well for the good guys, no?
Now that so much has been invested into this trial, it's hard to imagine the good guys simply triumphing again without any catch. Fuck, Oberyn and The Mountain are going to kill each other, aren't they? Oberyn isn't going to survive this season. I almost feel he can't. I almost want the tragedy, because this show has conditioned me to want it. In a way, it's a necessity for the storytelling that Tyrion either dies or gets out of this in a very, very bittersweet way that makes the audience happy to see him figuratively spit in Cersei and Tywin's faces. Or, on the other hand, Oberyn takes everyone by surprise and shows us how much we'll miss Cersei and Tywin when they're gone by somehow going above and beyond and killing them all.
fuck this show fuck this show fuck this show fuck this show
I expected it couldn't end so perfectly, but my god, that was the most brutal thing I've ever witnessed. Initially, you see Oberyn, a character who by now you've probably fallen in love with, completely confident and fearless. During the fight, he's so skilled, so graceful, but with the Mountain getting some solid hits in. Throughout, he is increasingly emotional, uttering a rhythmic chorus of "Confess, you killed my sister..."more and more powerfully. You're on his side. You're with him. You're moved by him. When it seems he's on the verge of winning, practically that he's already won, you're prepared to post "FUCK YES!" in the NeoGAF GoT thread. It's so exciting. You're lifted up so high.
And then that? Fucking that? No mercy. One strong punch by the Mountain, and suddenly the roller coaster begins to dip, only to fall into fucking hell. Who wanted Oberyn to lose? But even more, who wanted to see him in so much fucking pain, dying such a horrifying death, hearing those last words from the Mountain as he was so fucking helpless?
Fuck you, Tywin. I can't wait to watch all you horrifying bastards die. And no, you're not taking Tyrion with you. Fuck no. That can't be happening.
God, and I was enjoying this episode so much. Thanks, Sansa and Littlefinger, you certainly tried to make this an episode that wouldn't end with me slightly shakily typing up a heartbroken rant on NeoGAF.
Don't take this from me guys ;_;Nah, I think he wanted to know who made the order and to get vengeance for that, also.
It'll be some LOST level bullshit if the next episode takes place entirely at the Wall and we don't see King's Landing again until the finale. The central storyline of S2 was building toward Blackwater, so dedicating a whole episode to it made sense. I love the Wall story this season but it's isn't the primary arc of the show.
I highly doubt it. That dude is built ford tough, that and i doubt hed be that feared if he could be dispatched so easily.
I think Ramsay has potential to be a fun character if they let him do stuff now outside of torturing Reek. I kinda like him :lol.
And I must be the only one that was happy the Mountain won the duel. I fear for Tyrion but Oberyn had it coming.
Once again the wire laughs at this assumptionGoT is depression porn. unlike other fantasy that makes us feel better by being an escape. this series makes real life feel better by showing that our world isnt as fucked up as theirs.

A person that likes Ramsay also liked Oberyn dying (edit:AND also liked Joffrey). Why isn't anyone surprised? Some crazy sadomasochists in here.I think Ramsay has potential to be a fun character if they let him do stuff now outside of torturing Reek. I kinda like him :lol. Another one is Ser Jorah, I hope he gets to do something interesting in Westeros now that he is free from the Queen Bore.

I don't know. He got stabbed twice, no? In the gut and then what looked like the neck/chest. Not sure he could survive that with their limited medical technology. It always struck me as the actor they hired was sort of meant for a one time type deal, which would make sense that they'd just hire the biggest mother fucker they could find even if he didn't necessarily look/act the part if all they were going to use him for was for a fighting scene.

I KNEW THAT WOULD HAPPEN! As soon as Oebryn started talking while the mountain was down I knew it would end badly! GOD DAMMIT!
I feel it would be a waste to lose the mountain after all that. Especially with the hound out there. There could be a lot done with him. Also just thought of the foreshadowing with the hound and arya about styles of fighting in connection with this last episode
Wow. Who would have thought?Anybody posted this yet?
That's some crazy foreshadowing there.
Pretty stupid of Oberyn tbh. He put a sword through someone's wrist for singing rains of castamere in a whorehouse and he didn't think of making sure the Mountain was incapacitated properly. Did he really think he'd get a confession just by yelling at him?
You monster.
I like some of the assholes and Oberyn was a total showoff right from the beginning of the duel. Bronn would have won that shit.
Ramsay is hilarious but he needs to actually do stuff outside of all the torturing. Joffrey was one of my favourite TV ''villains''. You love to hate him.
Rooting only for the good guys in a show like this is not good for you ya know
