Thanks.

Is his wife/fianceé Voreno's wife from Rome, or was it my imagination?

That's what I love about HBO...If they worked with someone in the past, they're going to end up randomly appearing in other HBO shows for the next few decades...lol

Just makes me really miss Rome though.

Nina Gold is the casting director for GoT, and she was also the casting director for Rome, so it's not much of a surprise we've gotten a few members from their cast.

HBO does like to keep talent around in general though.

Finally got a chance to watch it yesterday and holy shit. I did not expect them too kill Joffrey this early in the season, but hell I'm glad a show has the balls to do it unlike other shows *coughthewalkingdeadcough*.

I thought Sansa put the poison in the glass as she picked it up and was escorted out by the ex-knight, now drunk fool. I can't wait to see how this progresses.

So was the first kid she lost Roberts?

I still wonder if she actually lost it, or "lost" it. When talking to Catlyn in S1 (after Bran had the accident) she was telling her how she lost her first child (with black hair) to a fever which came out of nowhere... just how the hand of the king before Ned died...

I wouldn't go this way. Children tend to be loved regardless of who their father is. Plus this being a medieval world, The infant mortality rate must be quite high, even at the houses in power.

I was always under the impression that baby never existed and was a story Cersei made up so Cat would feel better, make Cersei seem like a better person, and not implicate her in Bran's "accident".

Emilia Clarke and the chick who plays Shae can't act for shit. I actually skip Shae's scenes now... I only sit througb Dany's because she is obvs important even though no sign of her ever getting tha fack over to Westeros. I just read about Shae afterwards. .. couldn't give a shit.

Even more noticeable when you have people like Charles Dance on the show.

When Joffrey cuts the pie with his new sword, they show a very brief shot of several pigeons that died. I keep thinking of the very first episode when they find that direwolf with stag antlers through its throat. Since Cersei always nicknamed Sansa 'little dove', I hope it's not a bad omen.

Another thing that has puzzled me: Tywin forced Tyrion to marry Sansa against his will, and he ignored Cersei's pleas and tantrums about her not wanting to marry Loras Tyrell. But when Jaime, his eldest son, refuses to leave the Kings Guard to become Lord of Casterly Rock, he just disowns him and seems to leave it at that. Sure, there's a lot of stuff going on with Joffrey's death right now, but I wonder if he really accepted Jaime's decision.

Oh my god, I thought immediately of "little dove" too. Forget to mention it until you just said.

I'm finding the storyline a little flat and incoherent at the moment. The anti-climactic death of Joffrey didn't help.

It felt they were more busy dropping hints to offer a narrative, and boy they laid it on thickly with all the laboured focus on the cup intercut with granny, Sansa and Marge.

So I get it, the Tyrells offed Joffrey, but I don't understand the motive. The best I can come up with is that they got cold feet on the alliance with the Lannisters, spooked by the bad finances and how crazy and unpopular Joffrey is, and wanted to step back before it got consummated so to speak.

The other thing hinted heavily on is Shae. Clearly she was taken to the tower (the whole "are you sure she left?" made it obvious), although what use she is to Tywin now that Tyrion is accused of more serious things I don't know. It does mean that Tyrion was betrayed by Bron. So now he has zero on his side, not even a sellsword to fight on his behalf.

One thing I do look forward to is the inevitable involvement of Braavos.
You got the bank angle and also Arya's faceless assassins. They could even get involved with the Khaleesi storyline. That should mix things up!

Umm, is this a spoiler?

What the fuck. Not sure what to think having read the rest of your post.

WTF? You don't remember the assassin that gave Arya the coin? He still owes her one more death. They're gonna reappear. Chekhov's gun and all.

Do not think he owes her anymore deaths, Deaths: 1) Guy who torturers people 2) Guy who found the note 3) Guards to let them escape.

Coin was only if she wanted to find him in the future.

You're right. I misremembered. It was 2 seasons ago!
She'll still probably use the coin though.

Edit: The 3rd is actually him, but she revoked it in return to letting them escape.

Why isn't there a Star Wars RPG? And wouldn't James Bond make for a pretty good FPS?
Yep. Indira Varma. Some interesting clips/images of her on the web from work she has done in the past... *wink*

Agreed, fuck the haters. She's probably my favorite.

The actress who plays Shae has some interesting clips and images as well if you guys are interested ;)

I remember Jaqen, I thought you were spoiling something else from the future that we haven't seen yet.

I just marathoned through season 3 and watched the first 2 eps of season 4.

My god this show is killing all the good characters.

All those Starks ;_;

And now Joffery who I hated, but he made for good drama.

All that's left is Arya, Tyrion and Khaleesi (who has been boring lately, get her army on a boat already).

Jon Snow, that other Stark boy (the crippled one) and everything going on with those fire people is so uninteresting.

Better than marriage to a sadist.

It would have made much more sense for them to wait a year and, once him and Marge have a sprog, then off him. Marge would be queen regent.

If they did do it then something forced their hand or they have another move ready.

You're wrong. Shae is awesome.

Although I kept expecting Joffrey to have had her baked in the pie.

I hope some kind of bromance forms between Jaime and Bronn, ultimately forming a tag-team of badassery (including Brienne) to rescue Tyrion from the dungeons!
Those three would be a hell of a force.

Honestly, couldn't the big-brains of Kings Landing design some kind of arm-blade for Jamie's right arm? Having to train via his non-dominant hand must be a real pain in the ass. Just for reference I tried swinging a golf club as a lefty and it was completely fucked.

No, you don't get it. I read the books, and she can feel sympathy for the character. But not Leana Heady with 100% cunt-face 100% of the time. She has zero depth. Jesus, it's not like my view on this in anyway unique.

No, it's not unique, but the consensus is she delivers one of the stronger performances on the show. I and others could post more scenes or cite more examples showing her depth and range but what's the point when your dislike of her "cunt face" prevents you from being objective?

I felt this was a great scene for Cersei's character. The audience has come to loathe her at this point, but moments like this make you feel genuine sympathy for her.

So her saying she loves her children makes you feel sorry for her?

Dude, she's the fucking QUEEN. She has gone out of her way to make everyone miserable. Who gives a shit if she loves her children and would have offed herself otherwise? Crocodile tears. She has money, power, and a family who is running shit. Fuck her. She's an awful person. If you looked at the wedding entertainment she was laughing at the same shit Joffrey was. She nursed that little monster into being because shes just like Joffrey.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Cersei's greed and maliciousness rule all. She is absolutely sympathetic in some areas. Being raised by Tywin surely contributed to many of her worse qualities. And any real love she may have had for Robert were quickly extinguished by his pig headedness. She has had hard life lessons and experiences stretched out for far longer than they needed to be.

But nevertheless, the greed and the maliciousness reign supreme. She's too far gone, the life long damage done to her now exactly who she is.

She's dangerous for these reasons, and because she has a Joffrey-like irrationality to her behaviour.

Make no mistake, Cersei is an evil woman. She's also a masterful checkers player who fancies herself a chess champion, which is all the more dangerous to the realm considering her position of power and influence. She loves power and is fiercely protective of it, insomuch that she conspired in the deliberate murder attempt of a child and she has absolutely no qualm with the notion of exacting murder or suffering on others to further her selfish ambition. Her own father doesn't think much of her, and has admitted as much to her face. But because she exhibits a brief flash of maternal emotion - for someone who ensured her security and seat in power, no less - she's now eligible for sympathy despite the numerous crimes and acts of sheer stupidity she's committed in the eyes of family, the gods, and the law? Please. She deserves to die. The realm would improve ten fold for it.

Fucking hell, George is a genius. Didn't know he was the doctor until I read about it after watching the episode. Amazing.

Cersei is exactly what Sansa would turn into had she married Joffrey. A bitter, twisted woman who had all her expectations shattered.

She projects herself on Sansa because she reminds her so much of her.

That conversation between Loras and Jaime so good. Jaime must have been just fuming all the years Robert and Cersei were married.

Real talk though, Prime Robert vs Prime Jaime who would win? Warhammer vs. Sword?

I think Robert might have had the strength to pull off a win, but it would be a close match.

You think so? Those two had different upbringings, one from a noble/honorable house, the other from a house who approves of wholesale family murder, red weddings, and the like. I would think some of Eddard Stark rubbed off on Sansa, while Cersei was raised from Tywin Lannister's school of thought. I think Cersei was corrupted long before she married Robert.
