As someone with a Gigabyte card that just exploded, I vote not Gigabyte.

At this point I'm sticking with EVGA simply for their customer service and the fact they're like the only one that seem to be located in the US so they don't have long post times to deal with.

At this point I'm sticking with EVGA simply for their customer service.

EVGA customer service is top notch, but it's a bad time to buy a 1070 from any vendor. Samsung GDDR5 is in short supply so almost all newer 1070s will have Micron memory. Either the Micron memory is subpar or the bios that controls micron memory doesn't up the voltage from idle quickly enough - in either case it results in poor memory overclocking, although if it is a bios issue it could be fixed with a firmware update.

It's a client worse than uPlay actually. I dunno if you need it to open a game but I know to navigate it is a huge pain.

Open up the windows app store in your PC, that's the client.

Open up the windows app store in your PC, that's the client.

You don't need to open the store to play a game. It uses the Xbox app as the client, which launches when you start the game directly from a shortcut, or the start menu. The Xbox app no better/worse than Origin or UPlay, really. You can pretty much ignore it if you want when playing.

Not sure, I'm still in RMA process. Think it just got too hot and crashed and won't recover. I was playing ReCore, so I couldn't monitor the FPS/temps at the start like I normally do with new games (thanks UWP and your refusal to work with overlays!). I have pushed it temp wise a bit to around 82 before so I'm thinking it overheated and I didn't notice until the crash. It's supposed to be fine up until around mid 80s, it should just start downclocking. So I guess just pay attention to your temps.

It actually looked like it might've taken out my system at first even (smokey smell). Couldn't boot with GPU in slot, had to go onboard with it removed to POST. Couldn't boot into Windows, thought it might have actually been a motherboard issue at first (had extra power supply so tested, wasn't that), but clearing CMOS got me back into Windows. Card still wouldn't boot sadly.

With this promo it just makes you sign in to your MS account and grant Nvidia permission, might be the same via Amazon.

Though IIRC Amazon's prime discounts are only for physical copies anyway.

Wish I could get this free but I got the 1080 with nothing extra in the first week of release. Oh well, this really adds to the feeling that Gears 4 will be a good PC port. Maybe I'll put my money towards this game instead of Forza Horizon since that PC version is still nowhere to be seen.
