Genshin Impact |OT| 5.0 (Natlan) - Everything Changed When the Fire Nation Arrived

It's over, PS4 bros...

I heard the PS4 version runs like shit on the new summer themed island they added this patch. Anyways, it's 12 year old hardware with a slowass laptop HDD, so good riddance! o7

Yea I just don't get why. They've been shortening all of their events and then just leave us with weeks of nothing. Have you started the summer thing yet? I'm assuming it's pretty quick this time if they expected us to get it done in that short of a time frame.
I'm not sure how it was last time since I didn't play then, but I spent 2 hours or so progressing the main quest for this summer event and at the same time exploring so I could unlock all the teleport points on the main island. I think I'm about 1/3 of the way to completion.

But to your point, I was actually planning to drop a rant in the OT about this since they gave us just 2 weeks for what amounts to 6 or more hours of gameplay to finish the entire event which is kind of insane. At least they should extend it to 4 weeks, since their other big gachas have their major events last 4-5 weeks (HSR and ZZZ). I really don't like this FOMO tactic at all.

/end of rant

I never even tried it. I did load up the game on my PS5 when I first got it, and it played well, but there are reasons I prefer PC, even still. I think PC ended up getting the Playstation exclusive volumetric fog eventually, but the Playstation-only glider wings and sword are still unusable off of a Playstation. Maybe Aloy's bow too, I can't remember. I remember watching launch players show how slow the textures loaded in on PS4 (even Pro, really).

Damn, I'm not sure when I'm going to have time to squeeze this in. Guess a weekend all-nighter or something. I still haven't touched ZZZ/WuWa new patch content either.

Yeah, me neither. I only played the PS5 version a bit during 1.0, and it ran okay. Then, I put in a ton of hours (probably 300+) this year on my PS5 Pro, and it runs great and looks gorgeous. I think it's native 4K on both the PS5 and PS5 Pro, but it's locked at 60 FPS on the Pro, and the HDR really makes the colors pop on my OLED TV. But this news about them dropping the PS4 version got me curious, so I searched for a video with more recent PS4 gameplay. Found a dude doing the Natlan Archon quest, and during fights it was dropping to low 20 FPS, lol. So yeah...

You're def in a tough spot if you haven't touched the new content they added in ZZZ and WuWa in the most recent patches so I'll wish you good luck. :messenger_grinning_sweat: I think I'll power through the rest of the event this Friday since I don't have time to chip away at it during the weekdays.

It's been challenging for me because it's a B*nnett event. I did start but not sure how far I've gotten.

I feel like I've done nothing else, except put around on those islands for over a week and I'm still somehow only on the 2nd event story quest.

Edit: Finished part 3. That escalated quickly.

So there's talk amongst leakers that HoYo is going to go back and start buffing certain old characters to line up with current power levels. First target seems to be Childe, so I'm pretty happy about that. My C6 Childe still has his uses but overall he feels like a 4* character by today's standards. It's another reminder not to vertically invest in gacha characters unless you're a whale, but I do appreciate that they're FINALLY looking at underperforming characters.

It's probably only going to be story-relevant older 5* characters, but that's still better than nothing. I doubt we'll see Xinyan or Candace get any love with this system. It also kinda craps on my hopes that we'd be getting level 100 uncap anytime soon with new ascension passives for everyone.
I wouldn't be sure about it only being story-relevant ones, going by the recently buffed characters in HSR. Hopefully it includes Hu Tao as she is a crowd fav who unlike Furina is trailing behind.

Is part 3 the end? How many hours total would you say it took you?

Well in HSR it was the Stellaron Hunters (one of the main factions) and Jingliu, who admittedly isn't very important. But yea, only Wei knows what the hell they're thinking with who they pick. Honestly, out of non-standard 5*s, Hu Tao would be a good pick for buffs.

Anyways, fun little animation they did with Ineffa.

Not gonna lie, this shits on Genshin. No way im picking up another gacha game though. Genshin is all the gacha bullshit I can handle.

Love this shot.

There's 4 parts. I haven't finished the 4th part yet.

Part 3 was mostly just story so that part took less than an hour, while Part 2 required lots of game play so it took a lot longer. I didn't exactly do just the story and did a lot of exploration so it's hard to say how long it takes for just the story but part 2 involves completing the 3 major attractions so a couple of hours possibly from game play and story.

Just spent hours completing the new Stygian Onslaught. It's a doozy.

Stage 1 has the Natlan plant that imitates other bosses, which requires fast-hitting Nightsoul DMG to deplete its shield. I was only able to do this with Chasca, using Mavuika/Citlali for big nuke damage once it was down. It goes underground a lot and teleports all over the place, which is rather annoying.

Stage 2 features a turtle that gains a massive Electro shield if you hit it too frequently. The idea is that you use nuke damage, but freeze works too. I beat him easily with my standard Skirk team, but needed Furina in the third stage. I wasn't able to make it work with Yelan whose energy issues are just too much to deal with. Ultimately had to switch to a Mualani team, which uses Dehya on Sac Sword for the Pyro app. This strat required a lot of retries.

Stage 3 stars the cactus man that was introduced in this update. Hadn't fought him before this. He's there to shill Lunar-charged, but despite owning Ineffa I still struggled to deal enough damage to actually defeat him. Clorinde underperformed and Varesa couldn't trigger Yelan's burst for the Hydro application. Ultimately had to slot in Furina to make Varesa viable. Not too hard after that.

My opinion hasn't really changed on the mode. It still sucks that you start without energy and that you're spending the first 30 secs getting your bursts ready. Then your rotations get all tangled up, and it's not a fun time. You're forced to use Fav/Sac a lot and if their effects don't trigger at key moments, it's a restart. And of course it's just another time trial mode in a game that is chockfull of them. I'm dreading the future of this mode tbh.

Was able to beat Dire again. It was even more of a pain than last time. I never wanna fight any of these bosses ever again.

Wish there was more than just temporary weapon skins as reward. I just do it for the challenge but it would be nice to get something more useful out of it.

Yeah WW seems like if Genshin did ZZZ battle, tho its style is too stark for me and I also have plenty of gacha going on. I can see the appeal tho.

For whatever reason, I can't do the phone number damage that everyone else can do, even with constellations and signature weapons.

That's why I'm quick to give up on imaginarium and onslaught. From what I can tell, I have decent builds. I don't have god tier artifacts but they should be good enough. I put a good amount of time trying for artifacts but I can only grind RNG so much before I settle. Most have around 50 CR and 200+CD, plus as much boost to another stat they may use as I can.

Not to disparage, but I'm 100% sure I wouldn't be able to do Imaginarium on Mobile. Yea it's all the same enemies you fight elsewhere, but timing and rotations are much tighter, especially when you're working with gimped teams or characters that you haven't played much and don't feel natural. Then Onslaught is a level even above that, since you have no starting Energy and timing/rotations are even tighter.

So honestly I wouldn't feel bad, I'm sure by playing mobile for these modes you are kneecapping your potential.

The animation and effects are pretty visceral, and that ult just looks awesome. The audio is really punchy too.

I do think it would be cool to have some of that intensity in Genshin. No need to make all of the combat like that but maybe punch it up from time to time with some characters or abilities.
Although there is something to be said for Genshin's more relaxed and graceful combat as well.

Phone number damage. 🤣

Honestly you should consider giving controller another shot cause touch controls clearly aren't doing it for you.
Probably don't jump straight into abyss with controller, give yourself some time to get adjusted first and I'm sure you'll do better.

I usually play controller and when I want to tryhard I play keyboard and mouse. Maybe you can do something like that too, take it easy with touch controls and only use controller for the tryhard stuff.

Youtube channel I watch did a video on star rail. He said he thought he was doing decent damage till he looked online and saw people doing damage using phone numbers (big damage #'s).

I don't think the controls are the issue. Plus I can just tap the character to switch. The only thing I can think of that may be a hindrance on mobile is spinning the camera and aim mode for bow users but my issue isn't running out of time because I'm spinning the camera and aim mode isn't a thing anyone has time for in those modes.

I go through a few rotations of characters, see how much damage I did, and see the math isn't going to math.

I am able to 36 star the abyss now. Did it the 2nd time in a row. Sort of feels like they nurfed it though.

There hasn't to be an explanation though. By process of elimination, we know it's not artifacts or lack of cons. Though to be sure, you could post builds for some of your characters that are underperforming.

Maybe you're just not doing rotations right? Maybe your game just doesn't run well. What's your FPS like on phone?

FPS is 30 but I can up it to 60. No matter how good your phone is, they warn that anything higher than 30 is overclocking your phone.

Tried on the difficulty higher than hard. Barely got through the plant with mauv, chasca, emilie, xilonen

Skirk, citlali, escoffier, seig got through the 2nd one no problem.

Can't break the 3rd guys shield with varesa, zhonli, yelan, furina

Well, lower FPS means slower reactions, resulting in fewer actions. For this type of challenge it could matter. I've been 'overclocking' Genshin on my phone since forever. I don't think it has any real negative effects on the device, though it might get a bit warm.

For the third guy, Varesa and Yelan don't work together so you might want to switch her out. Fischl, Yae Miko or even Sucrose could be good. Make sure you figure out which of the hats contains the cactus. Apply Hydro and Electro to him at the start, and the particle effects should follow him around in his hat mode. The hat he's hiding in also has a little face, though that can be hard to spot sometimes.

To add to this another way to recognize the right hat is the color of the shockwaves it shoots out, his are yellow and the others are purple.

Finally got Citlali, but it took way too many pulls to snag her (I think it was around 130 pulls in total), so I'm left with almost no primos right now. The good news is I didn't have to touch any of the crystals I've saved up so that's a small w!

I also finished the summer event! I think it took about 6 hours to clear the quest and all the activities to grab all the rewards without rushing through any of them. I'll try to get the exploration rewards as well, but there's no hurry since there's like 70 days left to collect all the primos.

So I got a bit lucky with the leftover Natlan set I had in my inventory after farming for Mavuika a while ago, and I managed to roll some half-decent artifacts for my Citlali without spending any stamina. I still need to get her to level 90 and upgrade her talents from 8 to 10, but I'm already using her in my Cryo team which is finally complete! Overally, I'm really happy with how it plays and performs, and I even cleared the weekly chess boss at max difficulty way easier than before.

Double post, but what the hell! I finally managed to clear Floor 12 in Spiral Abyss for the first time, thanks to Citlali!

For the first half I used Escoffier, Skirk, Furina, and Charlotte, and for the second half, it was Mavuika, Citlali, Fischl, and Noelle.

I did my best ever this time 35/36 I have a feeling I could go back and get the last star since it was close. I might.

That Noelle is not doing anything there. No Bennett for your Mavuika?
Even if you just put Amber there and never switch to her she'll at least enable Pyro resonance.
I wanted to put a "lol" next to Noelle because I don't really have anyone else close to her lvl and build investment and I'm aware she's pretty much useless for that team comp. Amber is lvl 30 and my bennett is 20. I actually got him late, had limited resources, and invested in characters like Furina and other limited 5* I've gotten afterwards like Escoffier, Skirk and now Citlali. The plan is to finish this 2nd team with Mavuika and Citlali, but it's going to take me a while. Appreciate the advice though about the pyro resonance. Might give that a shot.

Here's info on the UGC mode. I couldn't care less about it, so I have no interest in reading i:

Well, I just finished the limited and main story of the new summer event, and I have to eat a little crow. I actually really enjoyed myself with this one. The event types and mini-games were varied and plentiful, the story, even about Bennett (one of my least favorite characters in the game) was well done and interesting. The only complaints I had were that some of the minigames bugged out for me, and I wish they'd have done the same thing as last year's event where they put plants/materials from all over Natlan on the island to collect. The shooting gallery part was my personal highlight, that was fun. Wish they didn't have to Genshin-ize the difficulty though, that could have actually been a pretty competent and immersive rail shooter with some tweaks. Anyways, got the claymore to level 90 for Aino next patch.

That was my favorite mini-game too. Not sure if on PC is the same, but on PS5 you could use the gyro feature of the dualsense to aim which made sniping enemies super fun.

Yea I was playing on PC with the Dualsense and it let me use the gyro aiming too. Wish more games used it, it feels so natural. Like you make the big adjustments with the stick and then fine tune the aim with the gyro.

Also, there are leaks about the new imaginarium. Supposedly one of the rewards is a tarot card out of (currently) 22, that you can display on your profile and trade with friends. Also interesting that you can challenge the extra 2 levels at any point in your run, but most will likely do it towards the end when you have better buffs. I personally didn't want even more levels, but I'm a sucker for cosmetics, so I'll give it a try.

*edit*

Also, almost forgot. The guy that makes a Specialist MMD at the end of every nation just did his Natlan version with 102 characters.

So I heard these long term encounter points are getting reset soon? I've got like 800 of them right now, and they make doing dailies so much easier... I really don't want to start over with 0 points and actually have to do commissions, lol.

Yeah, they reset every year but it's no big deal. I think you get one point for every chest you open or something? It's easy to get many of them and fast. But early on you probably won't mind doing some of the new commissions, if only for materials and achievements.

When the points reset after the #.8 update, we get a new region to explore with archon and side quests so as long as you're still working on the story, you'll never be left wanting for points.

Like others said, some achievements and side quests are tied to actually completing certain commissions a certain way.

QUESTION FOR THE THREAD:

Are we going to drag this thread back out to the Gaming forum again like usual with 6.0, or is there even a point to it anymore? I think Thick Thighs Save Lives Thick Thighs Save Lives is the only new active poster we've gotten in the past year, and Nod Krai doesn't have the curb appeal that Natlan did (for new players, it's mostly geared for veterans).

I usually make an updated |OT| like post every year for the new stuff, but there's not much other than the factions and story stuff. I'll still do it if the consensus is 'yes', just wanted to get some feelers out early.

Maybe they'll do something with Sumeru when its inevitable Chronicled Wish banner releases. Shouldn't be long now.

I don't think it'd do much. Pretty tough to attract people to a 5-year old gacha game at this point.

I still wanna find out the details about how she got trapped to begin with and who/what created the trap. That one side quest with the robots kinda hinted at some stuff, but we still know very little about that event.

Yea kinda my thoughts too. I dunno, HoYo hasn't started ramping up their 6.0 marketing just yet, so maybe there will be enough reason to do it in a week or two.

So the tarot cards that you get from that new imaginarium difficulty aren't character cards, they're just little 3D scenes. Now I don't feel bad for skipping them. I'll still give the new levels a try, but I'm not gonna stress myself out about it for this shit:

Are those rewarded retroactively for previous runs? That'a bit weird.
