Genshin Impact |OT| 5.0 (Natlan) - Everything Changed When the Fire Nation Arrived

Fuck me, Nod-Krai is so fucking good so far. The buildings in the city remind me of Gachiakuta, which I'm currently a huge fan of, the music is pure sex, the characters are quite interesting and well designed and stuff like meeting
Sandrone
in an optional AQ objective of all things is just madness. Can't wait to see what else is in store later today!

Lauma's charge attack transformation is great. I daresay it powercreeps most other ground traversal due to how long you can use it. C6 Mavuika is probably still the best overall, but running as a deer is straight up majestic.

Daaaaaamn we got a real one here.

I have C2 Chasca and her traversal is just too good. Was the best thing I did starting out as a new player so late. Mavuika is good but often too unruly. If I want to go on ground/flat walls I prefer Xilonen.

I agree that Chasca is probably the best overall traversal option, but outside of Natlan the duration of her skill leaves a lot to be desired. I like Lauma's because it's a charge attack, not a skill, so you don't have to worry about cooldown etc. I just noticed she gets a double jump in deer form too.

Spent the last couple hours playing the game. Lost my 50/50 to Dehya (C2) and ended up spending 150 wishes to get Lauma. Guess that balances out with the luck I've been having recently. I haven't really done much in Nod-krai except picking up materials to ascend Aino and Lauma. I also chose Mizuki and I'm running all three + Ineffa on a team. It's a blast to have so much new stuff to play with at the same time.

Your Shenhe must already be lvl 100 by now, right?

I ended up not getting any. I couldn't remember if I ever got a C7 Keqing or Qiqi, but apparently not.

You just log in and it's on the event screen in game.

Pejo Pejo Damn, that's a ton of Masterless Fortuna! I think you need just one more to level up five of your favorite characters to 100. Oh, and congrats on getting C1 Lauma!
Thanks man! I like Lauma a lot from what I've seen so far. Might even go for C2 after I build her a bit and see her real potential. And yea, regarding level 100, I'm currently experiencing choice paralysis, as expected of myself. Also, I think it only takes 3 Fortuna to level 100 a character, so I should be able to do 8 of them.

Mizuki is great to mess around with, she was an MVP in last month's imaginarium for me, but you need a stage where there are a bunch of monsters clumped. Her bossing ability seems pretty bad. Anyways, I also picked her for the 5* selector (C1 now).

I took Shenhe out of my Skirk/Escoffier team because I like pairing Skirk with a shielder (currently Layla) for comfort, so I guess I can try her as a plunge main DPS again with Cloud Retainer. I've thought of maybe finding somebody that she could Melt for bigger burst damage instead of trying to do Freeze, but I'm not sure who would be good in that situation. Maybe Dehya? The nice thing about plunge is that it's AoE and slow, so I don't have to worry about the Pyro application being too little. But yea, she will most likely be my 1st level 100. Probably. I wish I had any other option than wasting a slot on Chongus in my party to make her main carry viable. She should have just gotten native Cryo imbue at C6 honestly.
Know who you're gonna lvl 100 first?
RIght now I'm thinking Shenhe, Eula, Cloud Retainer, Skirk, Citlali or Mavuika, purely for non-meta reasons. But I'll lament over it for days if not months before actually pulling the trigger.

Nod Krai has been a lot of fun so far. The aesthetic is honestly more what I expected Fontaine to be like way before it was revealed. Like a seedy underbelly city with a 'noire' vibe and a big criminal underground in the shadows. These new red/blue puzzles are ass though. The worst part is that a big portion of the open world puzzles with them are quest-gated, so I spent like a half hour trying to figure out a puzzle, gave up, then ended up back there later for a quest and there were some extra puzzle mechanisms available only during the quest.

They didn't waste any time bringing out some big names, which was cool. I got sidetracked from the main story quest and did a bunch of world quests and exploring, opened up the bosses/domains and most of the teleporters. I'm really enjoying myself other than the finnicky red/blue stuff. It doesn't feel like it works all the time or something, especially when you have to stand near the bushes to use an orb, but then you accidentally turn into a seelie and get ejected into the air. I'm not sure they playtested that stuff enough.

Speaking of Nod Krai, I'm kinda disappointed they didn't take this opportunity to revamp Physical damage instead of doing Dendro 2.0. I think Physical would have fit the region a lot better thematically, and it's about time they do something with it. All Physical got was a pair of twinks over the last 2 years, and nothing that makes me able to use my Eula in endgame content, despite me forcing her in there sometimes.

I also have been reading the stories and notes laying about, there is some good dark fiction here just like in the Sumeru desert areas. I hope they don't end up making the Traveler's space ship look stupid, I'm excited to see it.

Ok so I know I've been hating on Genshin lately with all the devs stupid choices. But I will admit that exploring Nod Krai has been way more fun than Natlan. I really didn't like Natlan at all.

Nod has a better setting, better characters, better music, and generally a better vibe.

Pretty decent deep dive on level 100 and what it means for various types of teams.

TL;DR Transformative reactions get the biggest buffs (Electro Charged/Swirl/Superconduct/Overload, etc) which is about ~16%,. ATK/HP/mixed scaling personal damage gets between 4-10% bonuses, but there's lots of factors that can bump it up or down a little. That's from 90-100.

So with that stress gone and not worrying about bricking my account, I went ahead and 100'd Shenhe and Eula for now. Got a cool 1.2 million on Eula's burst fighting Lauma's material boss, which I'm fairly sure is a record high for me.

That's about what I expected. Doesn't seem like a big deal. I doubt even the hardest content in Stygian will be balanced with this bump in mind. I also assume they will eventually give some of these away (maybe 1~3 per year) for F2P players. I feel like the devs just want to reward whales with some cool stuff first. Can't get too mad at that.

By the way, my Condensed Resin did actually increase in value, so that was a nice bonus. Was able to get some additional talent mats from that.

Anyone else have issues with local specialties not showing up on the mini-map? I have both Lauma and Aino on the team and I'm positive I saw icons on the map before, but they're gone now. I think it might have happened when they released that small update.

Edit: Okay, I progressed through the story a little bit, and you end up seeing Aether somewhere, who called my character "Lumine." What is that about? Why even have all the other characters call us "Traveler" then?

Yep, since the heat was off, here's what I did in YOLO fashion before I overthought it and ended up never spending them. I saved 3 so I can immediately level 100 a new character if I feel like it in the future. I actually might give them to Lauma or Nefer, we'll see how it goes after I use them for a while in gameplay.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that yesterday too, I had some saved as well and I noticed they gave the full 60 resin worth of drops, even crafted before the patch. You were right about that one. Uncharacteristically nice of HoYo to not make them brand new items.

I just checked and it seems to be working fine for me with Lauma, but I've done most of my exploring with my exploration team instead of with the newbies. It worked with those little portable bearing, but if it's like other areas' talents, it won't work on food materials and non-character ascension stuff.

They've done this in the past, the only time those names are uttered is when the siblings are directly addressing each other. I don't think the Traveler tells Teyvat people their real name for Irminsul reasons and to stay out of the leylines and remain a descender. Though if we're to believe what we learned a few versions ago, Abyss Sibling IS now recorded in the leylines. I expect that plot to be followed up eventually.

Question. The beginning of the game was us fleeing Teyvat when we chose our twin. Is this after the cataclysm or before? Were they somehow fleeing towards their spaceship while in Celestia? Still very early into the quest.

The way I understand the intro to the game now that we've had story to fill in the gaps - Spaceship crash landed, we get into scuffle with Asmoday (silver haired cube girl from the intro), Playable sibling gets put into a cryo chamber and sleeps for 500 years while Abyss sibling has their adventure with Khaenre'ah and the abyss, we wake up and start our journey.

Man I just finished part 1 of the new archon quest, that fucker was LONG. Good stuff though, the only complalint I have is that we're right back to square one as far as communicating with the Abyss sibling. All of that adventure was with a fake/imposter. I'm generally not a fan of the story spinning its wheels like that for no good reason, not sure why they felt like they had to put us back to zero at this point in the game's life cycle. Otherwise, some nice new lore drops, nice character interactions, Jahoda was great and I really like both Columbina and Sandrone. I really like how sassy Sandrone is, she's like a Genshin Madam Herta.

That probably means the items I was looking for (Icy Pebbles and other items for the weapon blueprints) probably don't count as local specialties.

Oh, I never noticed that before. I guess it would be weird for siblings to call each other Traveler. I still don't like it though. Aether story time is steadily becoming my least favorite aspect of the game. I just can't get myself to give a shit about their reunion. The concept of a Genshin space ship also breaks my headcanon. I viewed them as magical interdimensional beings or something. Especially since they were 'captured' while flying around in an abstract heavenly dimension. Seems to me like they're just making stuff up at this point.

But how did abyss sibling know we were still in the ship when they regained their memories during the cataclysm? If that was after getting locked in a cube, then that means our sibling was spinning their wheels on that beach for 500 years. And how did they get from the current area to Mondstadt but it was the first time they were to those regions after the start of the game? At the start of the new area, she knew this is where the ship landed but had no idea where the ship landed was in relation to other locations in Teyvat. I'm still early in the quest so maybe more will be said later? Abyss sibling said he grabbed our sibling out of the pod. How did they get separated after that? Then again, we still don't know how abyss sibling ended up alone with amnesia.

I'm liking Jahodas design. She gonna be a 4*?
4* Anemo bow, according to leaks. But yea, she's pretty great. There's not a Nod Krai design I dislike yet.

For a long time I bought into the theory that the Travelers were literal embodiments of stars and Paimon was keeping playable traveler manifested due to her powers, so yea, finding out about the spaceship was kind of a thematic breakdown for me, but the Skirk story quest actually brought me around that there's interesting stories to be told about it regardless.

No, the Abyss sibling wasn't spinning their wheels, they were learning to harness the Abyss, seeking a plan for revenge for Khaenre'ah, traveling and seeing the world just as we (the playable sibling) did. Remember the Aranara quest where they mentioned the gold haired one? That was about the Abyss sibling's 'pilgrimage' through Teyvat as they were looking for answers at how to fuck up the Heavenly Principles. As for how the siblings got separated, playable sibling was messed up after the Asmoday encounter and needed to heal/sleep for that time. If you're saying that the playable sibling was on the beach for a long while, that's canonically true. They spent a big amount of time (maybe 10~ years) after they woke up just wandering around and learning the language before they fished Paimon out of the water and the game started proper.

After thinking about Archon Quest part 1 today, I have a new theory about what's going on. Now I think the Abyss sibling is actually dead. It would explain a lot of things. So to enter the leylines and get entered into Irminsul, you have to die. After getting in there, Sibling must have merged/been controlled/mastered the Abyss, which gives them the Abyss powers, and it also explains why the Sibling seems familiar at times and like a stranger at times during the Nod Krai archon quest. Like the Sibling's essence is half corrupted with an Abyss personality. It would also explain why/how the Sibling pops up and disappears out of nowhere, and it makes a lot of sense when you realize the Wild Hunt is basically all corrupted zombie ghosts from where the Abyss took over the leylines.

Nefer drip marketing is out.

I finally "finished" my Nilou for trying out the new bountiful cores team with Lauma. This is with only a 4* weapon too. By far my highest HP character.

Nice, got Lauma C2 in only 30 pulls from the previous copy. Pretty great luck this time around.

I'm probably gonna skip Flins for now though, I want to build back up for Nefer and honestly I was kinda disappointed he wasn't an edgelord like I had pictured. Just another well mannered, wise, kind boring ass male character.

I had just kind been throwing whatever I had at the Lauma banner hoping I'd get lucky and then try and save for Nefer.

Gold popped and it was Jean. Again.

So now there's basically zero chance of me getting Lauma in time and forget Nefer. Grinding up gems in this game takes way too long, can't skip dialogue or anything and traversing is so slow compared to WuWa.
I guess since I have Ineffa I guess my new target will be Flin? Save me guarantee for him. Which sucks because I don't really want more electro characters, my account is lacking Dendro. But ya 50/50 is a thing. Don't understand why the first copy at least can't be guaranteed. Losing feels like a gut punch every time.

I'd be more angry usually at something like this but at this point I'm not surprised. Genshin has been shitting on me for basically a year now. I'm gonna finish the new story and reassess things from there. I want all the freebies coming up, but part of me just wants to say fuck it.

I know the abyss twin was running around, but what was our twin doing that 500 years? Am I missing something or is there still too many questions yet? Spaceship kind of feels like a retcon and they're trying to figure out how it fits in.

I know you just said you don't want to grind, but Lauma is the new Nahida and will probably be the key character in Dendro related teams (bloom, hyperbloom, burgeon, etc) teams for the next year. If your account is weak in Dendro, it might be worth grinding out chests/quests to get her, she's insanely good, even at C0 without her signature. But yea, sorry to hear about the 50/50, that's always a kick to the nuts.
I know the abyss twin was running around, but what was our twin doing that 500 years? Am I missing something or is there still too many questions yet? Spaceship kind of feels like a retcon and they're trying to figure out how it fits in.
Most of the 500 years was asleep/healing. The game never said how long they hibernated specifically, just "hundreds of years" I believe. What I want to know is how playable Sibling got to Mondstadt if they "crashed" in Nod Krai. Was that where Asmoday cubed them off to? But yea, the Nod Krai landing thing seems like a definite retcon of some stuff they revealed early on in 1.0. I haven't finished Archon Quest Part II yet, so I'm not sure if they go further into it.

A few things I'm enjoying about Nod Krai so far, there are some special interactions if you use Nod Krai characters for both quests and dialogue. Like I had Ineffa in my party for the "hit all the targets within a few seconds" quest in town, and when I used her to knock down the targets, the NPC said "hey that's no fair having Ineffa do it, that's cheating!" but it still counted. She also said something when I used Lauma's burst to hit them all. Then the lollypop vendor has special lollypops for Aino and Ineffa, and Lauma can talk to wild animals, sometimes they even give her materials. Nothing major, but a cool mechanic to help with immersion if you have the new characters.

Also, I'm a big fan of how they treat the new lightning area. This time instead of doing the world quest and then the area no longer has lightning or changes its biome completely, the area stays the same, but your quest reward includes a passive item that prevents the lightning from hurting you if you get hit. Way better than they handled the lightning isle in Inazuma that loses its uniqueness after the quest is over.

I was exploring in the Frostmoon Scions area and grabbing ascension materials for Lauma, and I ran into one of those chests that had like 20 of the Pearl items she needs in addition to the primos and leveling mats.

Bought Ineffa's toolbox from the Knuckle Ducker. It gives Ineffa's little robot companion a copy of her own outfit. Pretty cool little extra.

Totally agree on both points. I look at those shitty Jean/Amber/Rosaria/Mona censored outfits and wonder what it was all for.

Regardless, I like every design from Nod Krai so far.

The new Treasure Compass system is so damn good. It encourages you to go out and explore like normal at first, then you get some small radius hints at level 2, then at level 3 it shows every puzzle/oculus/chest on the map all at once for the entire area. Makes cleanup so much nicer when you get to 90% exploration. Hope this is the new standard for moving forward, it's great.
