Ghost of Yotei |OT| Jin there, done that

Are there people around who aren't into playing GOT and would rather play GOY?
I watched some people talking about it and thought it was interesting.
Quite a few that were burnt out on GoT due to the repetition and never completed kept playing Yotei for 50-60-80 hours to 100% it. Even John from DF said that.

That's actually interesting. I finished got and its expansion but I mostly ignored the side content after the first act. That would mean they would have to actually improved upon that.
 
That picture is from the opening sequence I believe. Those opening parts are usually linear to start and then it opens up. I don't know for sure, but that's my guess.
Ahhhh that would make sense. I actually hope the game is good. If this was great, along with Saros, it could motivate me to get a pro and have the PS5 again.
 
After 2h i can say that atsu look worse in still frame pics than in the real game, she is really just an average asian woman, not ugly not beatiful, i know i'm gonna get shit for saying this :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Combat seems a bit harder on lethal, enemy attacks\combo are just straight up faster and i dare to say i saw a dude making a slight feint to throw me off? but enemies dies in 2-3 hits so it's balanced, hopefully it doesn't make the whole progression related to defence useless like it was in horizon\gow on ultra hard where the special armour let you survive 2 hits instead of 1 :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
I remember tsushima having some armours that were pretty broken in term of survivability so i think it's gonna be ok.

The characters feels maybe a bit heavier than jin? it has been a while since i played tsushima.


The graphic are...ok-good, large fields with grass, flowers and an evocative background is where the game is at its best, the closer you get and the less grass\flowers there is, the worse it get.
At its best look almost as good as the average quality of fw but with better artstyle, but it doesn't touch the highs points nor the excellent points, characters outside of atsu and the very most important like the six, are pretty unremarkable, i was expecting a bit more, the first past section with the family is a great example, overall nowhere near the best metahumans of horizon, anal wake, ds2 etc.

I like the story and setting more than tsushima, less grandiose and more intimate and nothing of that honor bullshit that was straight up fantasy and not how real samurai are, and saito seems to be a more multifaceted villain than kothun khan or whatever the name, i really like his english voice, but tbf khan was also pretty cool in the first hours and had a great voice, hopefully saito doesn't turn into a gossip girl first and a scared bitch later in the game like khan did or doesn't have a line like "you and me are pretty similar", and if he use it, i hope atsu respond with something like "yeah we are both cunts" or some shit:lollipop_squinting:
Can't say much about atsu for now, but i do like some of her smirky facial expressions, she feels a bit less dull than jin, but i never liked him that much other than his voice.

viveks86 viveks86 the hurting stance that i spoke before seems to be kinda pre-canned in some encounters, i had it in a small quest with a dude but i'm not sure of it, enemy dies with your first 2 hit combo for now so they don't have time to show any stance.

Yeah, the sounds effects and combat are amazing. Found my first tough challenge. I have died a lot to come gold duels but this lumber yard is taking me a while and if I goof up even slightly, I am dead and have to start all over. We go again.
 
Just played the game for roughly 2 hours on Pro using the RT Pro mode. Anyone who says this game looks like a PS3 or even a PS4 game is smoking crack. It looks great. Also, as others have stated, Atsu does not look bad. Is she a supermodel, no. She looks like an average Japanese woman. She actually looks ok. People need to stop taking random, bad YT screenshots of her and claiming she is ugly. I can pause my TV on a normally good-looking person at the right moment and get an ugly shot too...

The only thing I don't care for are the childhood flashbacks. It's not dreadfully awful that it makes me want to turn off the game or anything, the game is still great. I'm not following any particular goal at the moment, I'm just running around the map to find places and get stuff. What beautiful scenery.

I wonder how custom difficulty would work if everything is lethal but enemy damage is hard. Will that allow for more hits?

Man they didn't improve the stealth at all. Not one bit, it is the exact same as Tsushima. Zero new mechanics so far.

Kinda insane honestly.

Go watch some of the recent good quality walkthroughs on YT. The stuff that people are putting out there is much better than what Sony advertised.

I think more armoured enemies that you can't kill with 2 hits are gonna appear even on full lethal but i'm 90% sure this stance is precanned for story encounters, when dude was hurting she even had a unique animation to disarm him instead of killing him.
 
It was the same in GoT. I prefer this way rather than in AC Shadows where I couldn't see a thing when moving through the massive amounts foliage. It was more annoying than immersive, imo.
AC Shadows so far doesn't hold a candle to this. I just finished a play through of it before this. This game is just so much better. I'd rather have detailed smaller areas than larger areas full of nothing or the same encampment over and over again. This nails atmosphere, terrain and combat.

Look dude. I didn't say all YT videos were crap. Sony just hadn't done a great job with showing off the game in their footage and that people are cherry picking photos to meets their agendas. I'm not going out of my way to snag direct feed screenshots for you when in reality if you really wanted to find some you could.

In truth, we both know that even if I did, no matter what I show you, you've already made up your mind about her appearance....so I'm not falling for your lame ass gotcha trap.
 
That ray tracing pro mode is ridiculous.

Might just be the best looking 60fps console game i've come across.

Just a shame a few textures and occasional bad lighting sometimes lets the game not look great though.
 
I'm playing on Normal difficulty, but the amount of cheap deaths I've had in this feels more frustrating than I remember GoT feeling. The regular sword guys' timing is SO damn fast it's just about impossible to parry them.

I hate how a 2025 game still has enemies that act like you're not currently hacking and slashing them, while they proceed to go into their preset invulnerable combo.

Btw, Atsu is fine (not ugly), but I've never thought Utada Hikaru is an ugly human.
 
Armor of the Undying is mine. I died so much to get it the game asked me if I wanted to postpone the duel lol

16 hours and 4 min in. I haven't played that much in a day in a looooong time. Addicted.

Damn, just played until i saw the controller ia empty message..i had such a blast!

Also love the japanese dub,its fantastic,atsu sounds great .
Playing on hard and enjoying it.

Outside of character models, the most gorgeous game I have played this generation. I was not expecting that going in

About 4hrs in. Loving the game world. It feels so lived in. The side content connects so well with the games main story narrative. Variety in locations is top notch so far too

Good grief. The marketing for this game was horrible. Nothing has looked this good that I've seen.
 
Spent a few more hours with it tonight.

Likes:
Environments weather effects day night transitions all look fantastic. Visually and Performance(ly??) superior to GoT in all of these areas no question. Playing in Ps5 pro mode on an LG C4 55 oled.

Character armor pieces look great in the menus, so far I have three sets and they all look cohesive and awesome af.

Loading times are negligible imo, a quick fade to black here, scooting through a tight space there…no biggie.

Combat is fluid for me. On the difficulty above moderate (medium) and only have two weapons so far but they flow real nice.

Gripe:
Character faces: animations and textures. These look very VERY wrong in some areas of the game. Like lod's are loading in at the wrong fidelity levels. Just a bizzare thing to see the texture quality on the faces compared to how great the character equipment looks. I only notice this in cutscenes where my masks/hats are removed for the dialogue sections.

The story (or rather the character dialogue interactions) are poorly edited and come off janky. There are weird sentence endings, sentences that don't go together, incorrect words used, overall this is the weakest part of the game for me. The dialogue and dialogue progression is real bad: see dual katana master dialogue.

I did switch over to Japanese dialogue to cover this up and I have been having a much better time with the character interactions.
 
It's really insane how un-open world this game can feel at times when you peel back the illusion. This is a quick mock up and probably isn't 100% accurate but it's a good representation. Mount Yotei can only be explored as a series of sub-levels (Think shrine climbs from the first game but with a load screen)

This is perfectly understandable, and I'd argue, necessary.

I mean seriously….. how could you ever develop something the size of Mount Yōtei, integrating it seamlessly into the world around it while keeping its relative scale? I understand players' desire to have one open seamless world to explore in, but there's no way they could've created that thing in such a manner of gameplay as people are desiring.
