Prob didn't get Sonys give it a good score payment , to me don't trust scores anymore cause there that much that goes on with companies paying out reviews to give favourable reviews it's a joke, for me still got the Charlie thing in my head and the way Sony and sucker punch reacted don't give a fuck about this game , like always there will be a load of little Sony sheep saying one thing and still supporting Sony, if this game is a massive hit will just show Sony and its studios they can do whatever they want and say and people will still rush to buy there games

The "vast majority of people" happily destroyed Concord, times change, consumers seem to become clever to bullshit way faster than marketing can adapt. Maybe the mass isn't as "ill informed" anymore, just saying.
The airtight games media to consumer pipeline doesn't exist anymore with shit like X and YouTube. Pretending things haven't changed dramatically probably isn't a great approach.
There's still a lot of legacy assumptions doing the rounds on boards like gaf/era/reddit etc which may be why you still get stunts like Concord. It still persists.

I've been on both sides, including being staunchly "anti-woke," but then I realized that the perceived influence of these movements is mostly fueled by confirmation bias.

that review by Eurogamer is so spot on, man. This series is gorgeous but extremely shallow asf. I remember beating KCD1 and jumping straight to GOT, was so shocked how shallow and outdated all the mechanics were, wasn't expecting a deep gameplay mechanics but man how can a game so goddamn pretty but got a game design like it was made for a handheld console like the PSP. If this game came out in 2007 and Assassin Creed didn't exist yet it would be the greatest thing ever.

It doesn't need to be the best or most complex game ever made, it just needs to be better than Assassins creed as a whole package, and most people can agree it does that. Thats why it was successful.

It is probably 50/50. I think it gets in over KCD2, mostly due to the politics. Split Fiction would be the closest contender to Yotei. Battlefield 6 has potential, but I think the middling campaign will sour voters

There was clearly something going on behind the scenes to try to pretend that Veilguard was an amazing, back-to-form, high-end RPG. And then they tried to lie about the game's massive success until it no longer became tenable. It was very weird. Ideological concerns are clearly driving review scores for a lot of these sites and it should be expected. A lot of these are blatantly ideological! Why do people think that they will be ideological in their news coverage and previews and if you go on the X page of their writers they are all super ideological but they will leave all that behind when they review a game? It's absurd.
That said, I haven't seen where the ideology of this game lies outside of plain-looking woman as a main character and that weirdo who plays her. I don't know what this story is going to be. I also think these websites have a vested interest in downplaying these elements if they are there, they are not to be trusted. So, until the game comes out and people play it, no way to know. And I won't be playing it.

Very doubtful and they won't keep them off the list because they are both indie games. They were both highly successful and anticipated sequels to highly revered games and they reviewed extremely well. Leaving them both off the list for an arbitrary reason of "one indie game is enough" just to make the list more diverse is extremely dishonest. These two games weren't indie darlings of the year, they're highly successful sequels that speak for themselves. Considering the review scores, not having them both in the nominations would be a massive sideeye from a lot of people.

Veilguard reviewed at an 82. Which is a little high, but it is still a competent game. If the IP and expectations were not so big, the outcry would not be there about its review scores.
Yotei is much more straight forward. Everybody has a similar experience compared to a fantasy role playing game. And Yotei is inevitably being compared to AC Shadows. Reviewers are definitively saying it is the better game. 87mc seems about right based off what I am reading. GOT deserved at least an 87mc at launch 5 years ago. The sequel improves upon the original in marginal ways but doesnt reinvent the wheel

Unless this game is actually good, and that could be the case, I expect plenty of criticism articles to come out with a week or 2 of release. These reviewers are under a lot of pressure to give good scores. After a few weeks they publish articles complaining about the game. It is pretty standard. Cyberpunk, Starfield, and Veilgard all reviewed well and had major technical and content issues. Lots of articles that went counter to the high review score following release.

I didn't care for the combat either. If it is supposed to be a sword combat sim then that's fine, but I just didn't think it was very fun to play.
Well, then. I think they aimed for exactly that. Personally not my thing and that's why i stopped playing it. Also stopped playing GOT because of the repetitive gameplay loop, which is sad because it might be one of the most beautiful games, i've seen.

Having a variety of gameplay options in various games is good. Agree that the KCD guys accomplished what they want and that style of gameplay has its fans so that's works out. I enjoyed GOT with the different stances. Sometimes just having some shallow fun in games. GoT and AC, in general, do that pretty well especially when playing primarily stealth which is what I prefer.

Ok, after watching the disability review, it's a big NO for me.
Sony decided to say a warm FUCK YOU to disabled gamers by making the game unplayable with just the Playstation Acess Controllers since TouchPad motions are mandatory for writing names and playing music mini game.
Also using L3/R3 for the bamboo cutting (and other things) and L3+R3 for a skill it's just stupid.
Unless future patches fix this, it's unplayable for me (I'll only buy it in 6 months - 1 year).
