Would anyone else rather see them do a liveshow where they just watch the conferences and comment on them like the PS4 and Xbone reveals?

I love it when they cover a live event that way, but I wouldn't give up the E3 daily get-togethers.

Hell even if it's just an excuse for the full crew to get together.

This seems ideal to me. They really gain nothing in terms of content going to the show - for me anyway. They rarely have any guests on the show that I really want to listen to. Reacting to the main conferences sitting on the liveshow couch is fantastic content to watch. Do daily podcast for a week too - as the podcast room should be less wanted by others than week. Go home every night, and sleep in their own bed.

Them not going to E3 at all would be dumb, but I think staying at the studio/set during the live conferences wouldn't be much of a problem. They still need to play the games and see games that aren't shown in public.

PLAY. THE. GAMES.

Ever since the E3 conferences have been live broadcasts, there's no point in actually being there in person. The screens are never big enough no matter where you sit, the sound quality is always echo-y and not that great, and there's always a lull in the middle that makes you wish had brought along reading material. I'm not sure why they go other than obligation.

Because that's where all the developers gather together and their daily livestreams are some of the best coverage there is for E3.

He's more talking about press confrences than the actual show floor and gathering of developers.

Being physically in the city and ready to make content makes sense, but the only reason they'd attend the conferences in person is because they personally enjoy being there in person. Business-wise they'd probably make a lot more money just setting up a reaction stream similar to all their other reaction streams.

They've probably got a lot of business shit to do right after the press conferences. So they probably couldn't set up a good livestream situation when they'd have to rush to appointments afterwards.

Because they make appointments on the show floor to play things and that's when PR lets the developers out to demo playable builds.

They talked about whether it still makes sense for them to watch the press conferences in person or not on a recent Bombcast, I believe. IIRC Jeff said that it made less and less sense when there's a live broadcast of the whole thing, and that people watching at home would get a better experience in terms of trailers going up etc. But it seemed like they still really like being there in person, and I'm guessing they have a lot of appointments right after the conferences etc.

Also, the E3 live shows are my favourite GB content every year, so I'm really looking forward to E3. Get those dance.gif ready!

I said the conferences specifically, not E3 in general. I've been to E3. The private meetings are where the value really is. It used to make sense to go to the conferences to do live blogging, or if you were lucky to get a drop feed to post videos after, but now that all / nearly all are broadcast live, there's no real point in attending them in person.

Eh, they probably have bosses who are deciding their E3 budget going "Wait, you're not going to be filming the conference? BUT WE ALWAYS DO THAT."

They could do a group livestream like UPF and watch the conferences in the hotel rooms or a lounge of some sort, MST3K like. It would give them a chance to rest, eat and talk shit about stupid Peggle 3 announcements in realtime.

I think the best scenario for me would be them all still going to E3 to go around the show floor and have their meetings, watch the streams of the conferences so we can see their reactions live and then carry on having their after hours show at night.

I know this is highly unlikely given their schedule and their sometimes disinterest in Nintendo, but I would like to see a live reaction of the Nintendo Direct Stream.

I wonder if Giant Bomb were sent an early Retron 5 console or could maybe borrow the one Gamespot got. Any reason for them to have another retro gaming stream really.

Having the GB crew narrating over the press conferences would be great, but obviously that won't happen. My hype for E3 died a bit after the last bombcast but that only means I can be positively surprised, right?
At the very least I'll have my daily E3 bombcast.

If you follow the right people you can kinda have the same experience just reading Twitter during these conferences.

I can't believe the final timer was 99 hours and 59 minutes. Outstanding.

If it's the same as last year, Danny (and Peter) does press conference commentary on the Gamespot stream which is pretty great. He was hilarious when Sony started killing it on stage.

He also hosts their live day show which is pretty good for killing time until GB night show.
