God of War (greek saga) remaster is finished, releasing in 2025

Wow, it has the PsP games too? That's one big fucking collection. Even if it's 60€, we're talking 10€ per game, that's a great deal assuming they didn't fuck anything up. Guess I will finally play ascension.

Remaster NOT a remake... that's disappointing.

So definitely not buying. I don't just want the same experience from 2005 with shinier graphics, who asked for this? 😅

An actual remake of the games however, count me in... but will likely cost god knows what.

I played the original then i bought the remaster on ps3 for one and two so i did my part already.

This is just lazy fuckery that we go back to ps2 first party titles.

I would understand remakes like silent hill 2 resi 2 and 4 and such but its enough with all these remasters.
Bundy, noooooooooo…

I’d like an option to have an audio track of Kratos commenting on all the batshit crazy stuff he did in the original games shocking Freya, Boi, and Head in the process.

Edit: Kratos getting mildly offended over ‘exageratted’ 🤣

Nice to see this is coming. Let's hope they don't censor the boobies and sex scenes. If not censored I'll buy it, if censored, I'll boycott it.

I assume Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection Remastered (this time also including Golden Abyss) will follow.

I know would sell less, but I want now:
  • Wipeout Collection Remastered (PSVR2 compatible)
  • Motorstorm Collection Remastered (PSVR 2 compatible)
  • Killzone Collection Remastered

Do these have Metroidvania style exploration and puzzles like the newer games or is it more button mashing style? Def liked the two recent GOW but never played these.

There are some parts I just don't see them putting back. The sex mini-games aren't making a return that's almost guaranteed. I also think they might alter some of the more "sexist" parts of the game such as the one with Poseidon's Princess.
Why, this is not a remake, its a remaster, which is a port with higher resolution/textures. In a bundle package of games. If they left any game play out there would be a large backlash. You really think Sony is ready for that? You don't remaster and take shit out or change it.

remasters not remakes ? waste of time

What a massively missed opportunity that would be.

To give context. RE2 Remake came out 21 years after the release of the original game.

God of War will have its 20th anniversary next year. A simple remaster is not sufficient in this case. Games like Soul Reaver get remastered, not God of War after 20 years...

Despite every clamoring for sex mini games, these original games absolutely do not hold up well and the the QTEs also don't hold up well. The franchise hit massive numbers because it evolved from that stuff. Silly to go back now.

And then you said this...The original trilogy still holds up extremely well. The franchise hit massive numbers for a number of reasons, including that PlayStation exclusives got much more prestige and that sales of top-tier AAA games skyrocketed. Games hitting 30 million in the early 2000s simply didn't happen. Now, it seems you get at least one every year.

The bad stereotype about Sony's games not playing that well and being all flash and no substance - the one being argued about in a thread here right now - actually applies to these games. The games are great spectacle but they really, truly, are pretty mediocre in terms of gameplay and combat, basic hack and slash stuff. I remember a few years ago I turned on one of the PSP ones and within like, 30 minutes I was like "oh yea" and turned it off. But, maybe people will like that simpler, more basic stuff.

It's a shame we're not getting proper remakes, I prefer the gameplay in the modern games to the old ones, would have loved to have played the whole Greek saga with the modern gameplay mechanics.

They're all basically the same. Frenzy frantic hack and slash button mashing + QTE.. with a bunch of puzzles in between (especially GoW 1 and Ascension, those had the most puzzles IIRC.) and some platforming and banging whores mini games.

Gore and violence upped 10x compared to the new ones.

My favorites: GoW 1 (Ps2 2005), Ghost of Sparta (Psp 2008?) and GoW 3 (PS3 2009)

If you haven't played any of these, do yourself a favor and try GoW 3 remaster on Ps4-Ps5.

Considering they just did this on PS3, I think it makes sense to start the PS7 Remake now. That was when there's a lull in releases they can pull that out like an Uno reverse card.

No. They're short, linear, hack n slash button mashers with non-controllable camera.

They're insanely fun, gorgeous both artistically and visually, and challenging at Titan/Chaos mode. Just don't expect even a tenth of 2018 combat mechanics depth, nor anything close to its agency in exploration and progression. And total absence of builds, gear and any RPG element.

Oh, and you might find this Kratos a bit jarring as he's an emotional and almost hysteric character in most of these games, he's got a nice backstory but he's presented as a one-dimensional borderline cartoon that couldn't be any further from the stoicism materialized of 2018 Kratos.
But even then, old Kratos is still certainly better and more entertaining than whatever Ragnarok Kratos was.

Just hope they're not censored (almost 0% chance given their content) because the over the top, outrageous aspects of them made them so liberating and hard to forget.

Oh all the modern audience bullshit they are going to add will be very interesting i bet.......right off the bat, the sex minigame will either be removed completely, or Kratos will be able to pick a her, he, they/them or an animal
Oh its totally coming with the very least a Splash Screen at startup saying how "certain scenes in the game are of the time and don't represent our values....blah...blah....blah..blah.....bllaaahhh."

No, it really doesn't. That applies to game like the first two or three Uncharted or Infamous. The OG trilogy, especially III, has a nice combat system with a wide array of enemies and tons of weapons with varied movesets. You got throws, grabs, projectiles, heavy weapons, light weapons, and everything in-between with different weapons effective against different enemies. You also have spells and a good combo system that can be abused to ridiculous effects if you know how to play the game. It was never on the level of a Ninja Gaiden, but the original series has good combat. It is not mediocre.

I actually haven't played Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus and I'm always up for another playthough of the original trilogy. Ascension was there, I guess. Easy day 1. Really great news.

I too wouldn't say mediocre, but there's no question compared to 2018 the original series combat system is basically a self-playing cutscene. Immediate, fun, functional and overpowering no doubt, but stuff you can do with eyes closed literally.
And I can say that after finishing them all at max difficulty, some multiple times even, just GoW II, III, and Ascension only once at Titan/Chaos because you'd have to pay me to beat Loom Chamber, Zeus, Trial of Archimedes and fucking Skorpius again.

But what about those ugly cutscenes? Will they go that far and actually rerender the cutscenes at higher res?

Already have the collection with all games and ascension on ps3. But I would gladly buy that to show dissatisfaction with the current state of the series. If it sold well enough, could it be an indicator that the series needs an return to its roots?
