God of War Greek Saga Remastered in the Works

What the fuck. All these God damn remakes and remasters (some of which have already been remade and remastered) and still no word on Bloodborne or Gravity Rush 1 and 2.

I love Gravity Rush as well but Gravity Rush Remastered and Gravity Rush 2 already run perfectly fine on PS5 with the PS4 Pro enhancements in backwards compatibility. Gravity Rush is an extremely niche game, as well. Edit: I misread the source; The only verifiable sales figures are for GR2, at 2m sold.

The God of War games — with exception to 3 Remastered — are stuck on PS3 and only playable if one has an actual PS3 or if they pay the ridiculous sum for PS+ Premium (and lives in a place where the game streaming is available). The original GoW sold crazy amounts and was a staple franchise so I can understand why they’d prioritize it over more niche titles.

I’m so sick of this argument. Only game with mass appeal should be made? Don’t you find that boring? I find Sony first party selection this gen so boring for that very reason.

Sony should make quirky AA game as well as AAA games, that what they used to do back in PS1, PS2 and PS3 era.

It’s like saying Vanillaware shouldn’t make games because their games just too niche, but if all we got is focus tested mass appeal games then that would just suck all the fun out of gaming.

wtf is wrong with sony lol

They probably want to make money...

I mean, this isn't unusual, they've remastered games for generations or did you forget the past collections of this series lol

Why would this generation be any different?

If anything, what is wrong from some of you who are acting like this is some new wild thing, this is vintage Sony lol

It's funny bc I was just thinking about this the other day....how great would it be to be able to replay all of these classic Kratos masterpieces on modern systems. I used to have a PS3 but had to sell it sadly and since then I've been missing these games a lot so I welcome this news with open arms.

Sony will do everything they can to avoid remastering Bloodborne.

At very least just do a PS5 update for it.
It sold 7,5m copies, but only ~2million in 2015 and in 2016 it was already down to 20 Euro. So most of the copies didn't make much money. Maybe it wasn't succesful enough for Sony to be a priority, but at one point there is nothing else left to remaster for the RemasterStation anyways and Bloodborne will come :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Make some new games Sony. For fucks sake, this has already been Remastered once for the PS3.
Exactly!
a console that release almost 20 years ago and whose software is locked out to modern hardware.

Your argument would have merit if we were talking about funding a new IP or a new sequel to Gravity Rush. But we’re not. We’re talking about games being remastered.

You’ve got God of War which sold tens of millions of copies versus a series like Gravity Rush which sold, maybe, a couple million, tops. Multiple God of War games aren’t available on recent consoles while both Gravity Rush games are.

Which one of those two are you going to spend time and resources remastering? GoW, which will almost certainly sell over 10 million easily or Gravity Rush which might sell a million or so?

No, but it's pretty obvious why some other franchises can be a priority for these companies, especially when it comes to remasters. There's a reason New Super Mario Bros. U was ported to Switch, while Xenoblade Chronicles X was left to rot on the Wii U.

I will ignore the PS4 slander for now, but this gen you literally had Sony being happy with Returnal selling 500K units (!) and then proceeding to acquire Housemarque, not with the expectation of them making big blockbusters, but rather to bolster their first-party offerings with variety.
Sackboy, Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade were all pretty diverse -without mega budgets- efforts this gen that Sony simply doesn't get enough credit for.
And yes, they were developed by external studios, so what? The vast majority of Sony's quirky AA games pre-PS5 weren't developed by its internal studios either.

And yet Nintendo decide to remaster Another Code which is SUPER niche game even compare to Gravity Rush and trust me Nintendo didn't had any hope this game to sell but they did it anyway.

There is nothing wrong to bring back these niche games even they don sale well....

Exactly. Not to mention that to properly “remaster” the original Gravity Rush, it would need a full remake. The PS4 remaster was decent but it was painfully obvious it was an early PS Vita game. Remastering the existing PS4 remaster a second time wouldn’t be enough.

I don't think there is anything wrong as well, but it's worth mentioning that Another Code was a VERY late release into Switch's lifecycle (we're talking about year 8 here), and Until Dawn is pretty much a sign that anything that's not a mega blockbuster is very well on the table.

I think we should talk about Gravity Rush having a remaster already, which is, IMO, an excellent version even on PS5 BC.

Before the "Boy," before the dark times. We want back the pure RAGE.
We want this feeling, as Homer said in the Iliad:

"Sing, Goddess, of the rage of Kratos,
Black and murderous, that cost the Spartans
Incalculable pain, pitched countless souls
Of heroes into Hades' dark,
And left their bodies to rot as feasts
For dogs and birds, as Zeus' will was done."

Nintendo also sits on a massive chest of funds. Nintendo’s cash-on-hand at the end of FY24 was $14 billion. That’s straight liquidity, not anything else. Nintendo can afford to do occasional remasters like Another Code even knowing they probably will never break even. Sony doesn’t have that luxury.

As for your last line, please don’t ever try to run a business.

It really is but, like I said, there are places where it’s painfully evident it’s an early 2012 Vita game. It still looks great but remastering it a second time would essentially require a full blown remake.

Umm what? A quick Google search tells me Sony has almost $16 bil cash on hand in 2024 this year. Stop with the misinfo.

Oh good, I've been hoping to play these on PC. I had to stop playing the series at GoW3, because the framerate on my PS3 was so unstable.

If this ends up being true, I am going to legitimately LOL, and not in the good way. Jesus Christ, Sony is making the jokes write themselves at this point.

These games are all remastered on the PS3. My local store has disc copies if you need it.

PS3 stopped being a viable platform 11 years ago.

And Sony released two major hits this year, has two major hits scheduled for next year that we know of.

There's no pleasing you people.

Remasters? No thanks. Remakes might be more interesting I guess but for fuck sake Sony, make some new games. You're about as creatively bankrupt as Disney.

If true...

Then lame.

If you gonna go back into Sony history to remaster games, GoW wouldn't be high on my list.

I'd prefer games that are proper dead and can be resurrected. Siphon filter, Socom, sly, or even singular titles like warhawk (doubt anyone would play the ps1game) or puppeteer

Sony is using the same analytics that NFL, NBA and MLB coaches are using. 3 pointers, 4th downs, no starting pitchers and remakes/remasters vs profits and costs. People keep asking for games faster and cheaper, this is the industry solution.

I do not see Sony giving away all these games in one collection.

Can easily see them doing multiple volumes of it.

This is way better and makes more sense than a horizon remaster if it's true, and if nixxes is handling it, santa monica is free to concentrate on whatever game that they are working on now.

Awesome. I love the old games and often wish to replay them but the thought of using the PS3 controller again always makes me reconsider.

I'd happily take a Deluxe Remaster, the same way Capcom did it for Dead Rising. Leave the game mostly unchanged, just update graphics
