GTA V PC Trailer (60 FPS)

Wait they're still charging $60 for this? No one else is angry at this price? Cause I think $60 for a 20 month old game is stretching it

I got it for like under $40?
Steam's a new market and the game has been on pre-order for MONTHS, besides it is GTA5, why should Rockstar knock the price down?

It's a big nvidia title. They've been pimping it all over geforce.com...there's no way this won't have a proper sli profile.

That's not that simple I'm afraid. Some engines don't play nice with multiple GPU and there is nigh Nvidia can do about that.

California only gets rain for about half the year. When you look at the hills during the winter they're pretty green but much more brown in summer This comparison reminds me of that.

You should still notice it though. Whole reason companies pushed that whole 120hz feature for tvs.

Are we talking legit 120hz like a monitor 120hz or the doubling crap like 240hz monitors that don't actually run at those rates and artifically enhance the signal.

Considering both current consoles are just tweaked x86 machines, I have hope that Rockstar will have their shit together way more than they did with IV.

GTA4 came out in a much different hardware climate a lot of big companies including valve and blizzard still put out shit that didn't work well with multicores.

Wait....

Are some people here complaining that the game runs to smooth?

I just got a 144hz gsync monitor and I was thinking how the panning at 60 doesn't look great to me. Which reminds me, I hope this isn't locked to 60fps like so many other games.

The second FFB steering wheel support is patched or modded in, I am triple dipping on this. Without wheel support, I am fine with PS4 version for now.

Has their been a nvidia gameworks game that didn't get proper sli support? Not being a smartass I honestly don't know.

DAMN #worththewait

First time playing it all the way through. :) I stared it on PS3 but then waited after the announcement of the current-gen versions.

Dries has v-sync disabled so he would be seeing tearing instead of judder as the frames are still being pushed out at a consistent rate. My best guess for why he doesn't notice tearing is if he's got a 120hz+ monitor. Playing un-synced 45 frames on higher refresh monitors diminishes the screen tearing you see compared to if you just play it on a 60hz monitor.

Is your monitor's refresh rate 120hz+? Screen tearing wouldn't be as apparent in that case but it's still there.

Nope, 60hz.

Looks good but character models look so last gen/cartoony now, kinda bringing the whole thing down.

60 fps is delicious though and making me considering triple dipping :/

Alot of people dont mind it though. Like when they watch 24fps movies on their 60hz computer monitor.

a 24 fps movie has motion blur, which makes it look perfectly smooth and natural. And no, not the motion blur that games use. That's a crappy looking bandaid on the low fps wound. Movies don't follow the same rules. If you were able to take video of something with absolutely no blur, it would look unnatural at such a low framerate. likewise, if you were to take a high framerate video of something with the same amount of motion blurring at a normal camera, then it would look just as unnatural.

60 fps looks good, as is to be expected. I really hope this is a good port, but I won't be surprised at all if it isn't.

Im not comparing 24fps movies to 24fps games. Im talking about the 3:2 pulldown that most people dont mind when looking at 24fps movies on 60hz tvs/monitors.

bloodborne has problems with frame times iirc

I was about to do the buy a console for a game thing with Bloodborne, I'm a sucker for high frame rates though and after Twitch, Youtube and Gaf impressions, I think it'll be too jarring of an experience. low 20s is too much for my eyes unfortunately. Amazing looking game though.

the last few rockstar ports have been really good. Max Payne 3 was terrific, for example.

the only issue is how many layers of drm they're going to throw at us this time.

The game always had a cartoony vibe it's pretty iconic to the series. The series plays on reality but keeps a very surreal cynical edge to it.

Rockstar I'm waiting for my lightning gun and proper rampages.

i'm not against 60. Just some games should have it, some shouldnt (just my opinion)

and the difference between 30 and 60 for reaction times is so slim it doesnt even matter to most people.

I guess you are built for console gaming as the developer will make the fps choice for you.

That trailer was nice and I hope my 290 OC wil handle it either in 4k/30fps or 1080p/122fps
when I buy it after a sale and when others have finished beta-testing it.

The notion that 30fps is somehow more 'realistic' than 60 is comedy

It's pretty easy to understand even though I would disagree, some people are just used to a lower frame rate, it's that simple, although I very much prefer 60fps in games I couldn't watch the Hobbit in 48fps at all.

Anyway I'm pretty confident my old 2500k @ 4.4ghz + 980 should be enough to run this smoothly.

The whole art direction of the game is cartoony though. It fits.

Yeah maybe. Maybe I'm just tired of seeing Michaels dumb mug and was hoping they corrected it a bit on pc.

Nevertheless game looks good, not insanely good but the smooth framerate will make up for it.

Now they gotta polish GTA Online on pc.

I just spent 30 minutes last night listening to The Black Guy Who Tips while rubberbanding my PS4 controller with Michael in the desert, yelling KIFFLOM

I'm going to have to do this all over again, aren't I

so whats the cheapest way you can get this game atm without some goofy vpn business?

See it for $47 at GMG.Anywhere cheaper?

Well, I just booted up some games to see if I could notice the judder and stutter @ 45fps you guys are talking about... but I just couldn't see it... Sorry guys :-/

Yeah, I rarely get locked 60FPS in most games, but I've never cared enough to look for judder. To me if it's close to 60 most of the time with occasional dips, I'm OK with that.

When I first got a PC I was SUPER obsessed with aliasing and variable framerates and I and would tinker with a game for hours before finding the perfect configuration of performance to image quality. But over time I relaxed on that stuff and I've been happier for it. Sometimes I'll even turn on PhysX even with the performance hit because I actually prefer the additional effects over the performance hit!

24p will be looked upon with bemusement in the future, or rather our continued use of it.

I'd recommend keeping track of GMG. They've discounted this multiple times, and often at less than what it is now.

Hey I am a PC gamer (to a degree) and I find 60FPS to feel a bit "fast forward" in cut scenes. in gameplay its different because it makes you feel like you have finer control. But n cut scenes it's still weird to me.

Guess you loved DA Inquisition, gameplay at 60 fps and then back to incredible jarring 30fps cutscenes that looked like they came straight from the depths of hell.

Looks great! I didn't finish it on PS3 because the low FPS annoyed me and I was too busy playing online with my friends, I am real excited to jump back in and play it in first person.

smooth as fuck

get the fuck outta here, that's GTAIV?

Looks amazing.

Look at the peds.
As good as ENB is at making everything look awesome. These videos really demonstrate the difference in quality on the character models from the GTA series before 5. They really made an effort with them in the latest version, and although I doubt the PC version played a part, I'm sure the remaster was a given at the time of the old gen release.
