Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 |OT| Anyone can save the galaxy once - SPOILERS!

Tell that to the Fast & Furious crew who've adopted Han's killer lmao

Well, duh? Should I write "imo" after every post? Of course I'm speaking for myself.

Is typing three extra letters THAT much of an inconvenience?

I think = 7 characters including the space
Adding "to me." at the end of a statement = 5 characters.

It really is something that should be added to avoid confusion.

Some people DO like to make blanket statements and attempt to pass them off as absolutes, so when someone does want their statement to stand as an absolute what are they supposed to say? "GotG2 was a piece of shit, and this is not just my opinion but an incontrovertible fact!"?

I thought you were making a blanket statement.

Making our statements clearer on the internet I think only helps to facilitate better understanding of one another since degrees of emotion and tone are so difficult to convey.

Shout out to Stallone, he had like 30 seconds, but he put his back into it. I was a little hawkish when i herd he was going to be in it

I prefer the original's soundtrack overall but Vol 2's still pretty good - 'The Chain', 'My Sweet Lord', 'Brandy', 'Wham Bam' and 'Father and Son' are my favourites.

I must have had a really stupid grin on my face when Stallone told Yondu he betrayed the Ravager code.

One thing i didn't like is that except Baby Groot krunking and Ego and peter's mom scene . The songs didn't have that hook like the first one. Maybe it's just my taste in music .
I agree. For me, the first movie's music was a lot stronger. Starting with Redbone's Come and Get Your Love was amazing. The music just felt a lot more fun.

I generally enjoyed the movie. Drax is the best by far. The one problem I had was that the movie switched from humor to drama a lot, and sometimes it felt out of place. I understand that's the GoG formula, but it was a little hard for me to take things seriously when one liners were being thrown around all the time.

I am hugely biased because I think Logan spoiled me and I loved the hard R rating and the seriousness of it, and that's the last movie I've seen in theaters. I walked out and thought, not as good as Logan. I hope that Thor 3 isn't just a GoG lite, which is what it felt like after viewing the trailer.

Overall, still a good movie. It didn't disappoint me, but it felt like something was missing and I can't put my finger on it.

It's not a dud, but the best parts of it could have been tightened to from a much better product. The gold people were terrible villains. I hated the scene when Rocket was bouncing everyone up in the air with his little machine. The ending scene was based around Yondu so his integration into the plot could have been smoother. They could have sped along the Peter/Ego parts to get to the point a little quicker.

Due to the characters not being in the same place for most of the film, the action jumps around so much.

It's a great film that's been wrapped up in a disjointed, messy one.

The gold people were very clearly not supposed to be taken that seriously, their method of controlling their ships is an arcade game after all. I enjoyed how comedic and lighthearted the movie was in that regard. Ii also don't see much issue with Yondu's integration, a lot of it was set up in the previous film so his motives weren't out of nowhere or anything. I suppose the disjointedness came from the team bring seperated with the lame excuse that Rocket Raccon was going to fix the ship that was literally ripped to pieces just so they could RR and Yondu to team up. I didn't mind it though.

I liked the movie, but some of the humor felt really forced, and they should have left us more time to breath between gags. This felt like a focus group thing as in what do people want? More baby Groot, more jokes, more one liners!

Also the big reveal with Ego felt forced to me. Clearly he was doing a way too good job at being nice and they needed a big thing to make Peter turn against him. Giving his mom cancer just felt really blunt. I would have preferred a more subtle approach, but Marvel movie villains are what they are, I guess.

On a more positive note, Yondu killed it, I really wish he could be in the sequel.

I forgot that Mary Poppins is Disney. They can totally sell official merch of that now. Lol

People are going to die and be brought back to life in Avengers 3 and 4, wouldn't count him out.

It reminded me of Age of Ultron, where it felt like it had a lot more quips compared to other Marvel movies. Except they mostly all landed, because GOTG characters, especially Drax, are funny as hell.

Yeah I actually hope his character returns in Guardians 3. You can tell he took the role seriously and actually put effort into it.

Putting someone in harm's way, and telling them they are disgusting and ugly are abusive behaviors. These are played for laughs on a character who does not know any better. These are outlaws and there is no reason they should behave properly or understand the nuances of human relationships, but these particular interactions are meant to endear the characters to us. They did not endear anything to me. They represent to me a miscalculation of the script and filmmakers, a blind spot, or a cruel streak in the humor, exploiting what is essentially a child slave for laughs that take advantage of their inexperience. I am engaged with charities like the International Justice Mission and the Polaris Project, so maybe these types of behaviors strike me in a different way than you guys. To me they represent abuse. They are clear transgressions against an innocent party, and they are played for laughs as if that kind of abuse is okay.
I thought it was weird but hilarious, for us she looks pretty if funny for drax she is freaking ugly but pretty on the inside.

Its kinda morbid, relying on black comedy but GotG is not a movie for children! also it was innofensive enough for most of the audience.

According to Gunn
“My plan is to see more of him,” director James Gunn tells the Sun. “I’m not sure about him appearing in Vol. 3, we’ll have to see about that, but it’s our plan to see more of Stallone. Kevin (Feige) and I are working on what is going to become of the Marvel Cosmic Universe and where it’s going to go. We plan to see the rest of them in the future.”

Thought the film started a bit aimlessly as it worked its way to the main tension.

Then it was really good in the second act and much of the third.

The planet core part, though, took too long. I genuinely started wanting the film to end. And then on top of that the meat of the ending was to redeem Yondu (cool) but then spend 15 minutes sending him off in an emotionally manipulative way to give the film its finishing punch. Seemed misplaced to me.

Overall I enjoyed the movie a lot. But that Ben Browder cameo was so good. I agree that the music cues were perfect in this movie. The Chain was too good.

It was so good. You really felt that these guys were bros torn apart by terrible life choices. In thirty seconds of screen time no less. Other films couldn't pull that off with 140 minutes.

lol at the idea of having to say what you write is your opinion every post.

If you don't realize this is my opinion.

Edit: Ugh the taserface joke. That went on too long. Same for the potty humor. Asking about Egos penis was the one that landed for me. "I have big turds" it's a bad joke.

Peter getting a Zune made me laugh far too much compared to most of the other people in the theater. Does the general public not understand the inherent comedy of the Zune? It was even a brown one!

So I really liked this movie, but it might have been one of the most cliche movies I have every seen.
There are so many common tropes within the plot.
Anyone else think this?

According to Gunn

I'd would actually like to see something similar to the Pixar shorts in the beginning. They keep expanding the cast through the Universal and a small 5 to 7 minute short, with a bit about the side characters would be nice. None of the main cast in any of the films, but something like Stallone and gang trying to break into a bank. In front of something like Capt Marvel or Black Panther, and vice versa.

Stallone and Rooker definitely made the emotional impact for the film. Rooker sold Yondu as the father figure, someone who regrets his past decisions, etc. And Stallone in the little time he had, made it clear he considered him family and his betrayal broke him.

That was angry Drax. Funny Drax wants to hug Thanos.

Who is currently projected to die in Infinity War?

I have a hard not seeing it as anyone but Capt. Evans if I recall, does want to hang it up. Winter Soldier taking up the mantle after would make sense. It just seems like he would be the choice. It's a major character, easiest to replace in the franchise, and his character is the self sacrifice type.

The Zune joke was excellent, one of the best.
