Halo |OT10| The Calm Before The Storm

Seems like Light Rifle would be the best for competitive play. Highest skill gap and learning curve out of all the rifles.

The light rifle seems like it will be interesting. I'll play around with it in casual playlists, but in Slayer Pro our only choices are DMR or BR (AR lol), so out of those two DRM looks most appealing to me (even though it has Halo cancer; bloom).

I agree that the cat helmet was terrible, but I thought the 2nd disc was great, even kept it after I got rid of the game a while back. I'm a sucker for commentary tracks though. Reach's commentary was terrible and wasn't even on a disc.
Is there even any way to access the Reach commentary on Waypoint since the redesign? I'd check, but as a recently gimped Silver user, I'm not allowed to even get confused by Waypoint's labyrinthine structure to try and get to the bonus content I paid for. At least I'll always have a stupid plastic rock.

@GB1
Yeah, I didnt mean it maliciously

In further attempts, I was not given another response

Unfortunate truths often go hand in hand with large corporate landscapes, even ones we support and enjoy strongly.

There has been so much red tape through out this release cycle, Im going to chalk it up to a learning process

But as Ive also said before, only "super-fans" are feeling it, so many future players are none the wiser right now

Where was the breakdown of the DLC that comes with each different version of the game/War Games Pass/Console etc?

Yeah I thought people bailout.gifed that place a few hundred years ago.

Glad that LE members don't get pay walled in-game abilities anymore.

Now just players that get it for christmas or start playing late are excluded... :|

I like that everyone (well most people) will have the same chance to choose their specialisation, however now the LE looks like a terrible value. So frustrating. I'd be OK if we got some kinda of book or DVD or something...

how the fuck did that get in over say i dont know... the carbine or lightrifle? also... nooooo keep DRM out of halo please. ;)

also, why is the carbine destined to be nerfed (or removed completely) every single time?

Still going to get the LE. Don't care.
This, I'll be damned if I'll ever settle for a normal edition of a Halo game. :/

$15 for a cool Halo 4 steel case and random fiction swag is worth it. Kinda surprised so many gaf Halo nerds will be passing on that.

So if all of those Specializations are being released early does that mean its really easy to rank up? I hope it takes a long time to rank up because it will be like another 3 years until another Halo.

Ugh, the LE is now a nerd tax? It's not better value than buying things separately? :|

This is a massive bungle.

It always was.

You don't need
-Digital outfits for your manbarbie
-Nerd pamphlets
-If you need a steelcase to protect your disc you need to move out of the den of mongrol barbarians you live with and get your own place.

This. :/

I never said I was passing on it (though it appears as though many are) but I seriously feel like I am getting a lot less than I was promised when I preordered.

Do you not play multiplayer? It's not really terrible value if you plan on getting the map packs. You're paying for a limited edition, with a couple extra skins, an eblem, an xbox live avatar (i think), a briefing packet, some videos, a nice case and all three future map packs...not to mention a nice case. Not bad.

I know I shouldn't, but i'm gonna stick with my LE.

I pre-ordered a long time ago, and there really isn't anything I can do with $15 in store credit.

Because Halo developers are still desperately clinging to the laughable idea that there aren't central utility weapons and that AR starts are equally viable. If they admit the fact that Halo operates better when its balanced around core utiltiy weapons that are used more than other weapons, then all their weapon balance decisions start to fail under any sort of scrunity.

On anther topic, if you're foolish enough to waste money on garbage and videos that will be on youtube within hours of release, I have no sympathy when you get swindled.

Team SLRP reporting for duty.

Sounds like most people are jumping ship from the LE. Someone make an "I'm outta here" gif lol

That's fair. But all that shit will become irrelevant in a few months when they unlock everything for everyone. You'll look back and chuckle at the fact that you were even the slightest upset about that.

Morning GAF! What are we bitching about today? LE edition? Okay. Man that sucks. terrible, such a rip off. We don't even get the armour pieces from the war games pass thingy.

Do we know that they nerfed the carbine? Does it have a slower rate of fire or does it take an extra shot or something? I don't know if it has any relation to weapons like the AR...hell, let people use that thing, I'll be all like "die, bro".

Completely agree with this part. In all honesty, the case and the fictional elements were the MOST important thing to me. I'm still looking forward like crazy to getting it. Really the only thing I'm not too happy about it the helmets not coming with the the LE. To me, that's the main issue.

Pretty sure they increased the shots to kill, so now it kills slightly slower than the DMR and I think you can only get one kill per clip.

Good lord, thats pretty awful if true. Did someone at 343 not think, "hmm, more shots means you have to have more precision which means we should make the kill time less"? Grrrr

The war games pass gives you more armour stuff, for less.

I'll probably stick with the LE as the Standard edition in NZ is relatively more expensive, so I would only save $7NZD, but when I pre-ordered I was promised exclusives that aren't exclusive anymore... doesn't seem right.

Eh, I'm kinda glad that the specialisations are given to everyone (as long as they buy on launch fortnight) but I'd have rathered that this was announced and transparent a long time ago before promising people exclusives then reneging.

It was collected under embargo.

Don't worry - all the raw footage will be released once the embargo ends (not just Tashi's montage clips).

We talking days or weeks here?

Also, the LE has looked like a bum deal from the outset. I wasn't a fan of the Reach statue, but the cat helmet was awesome (useless, but it all is!), I need more than a steel book to push me over the LE edge.

Annnnnnnd Dishonored is pretty freaking good.

H4 DMR Bloom is a non-issue.

The LE edition is really frustrating. Lesson learned: Never again support a LE edition by paying in full in advance on the intial day the game is available for pre-order.
