They never used it. Halo 4's been in development since Reach; I'm guessing they went one direction, and Bungie went another. How much the engines have in common is another question.

Honestly, the lack of transparency felt really weird to me as well, and it still does. That alone makes me relate more her to a person (without clothes no less) than an artificial intelligence.
Yeah I dunno if my issue with Cortana is the uncanny valley, because she's a blue chick and Lasky should be far creepier if that were the issue.

I didn't plot them to any ratios or anything, just working through why the Cortana model has been bothering me. I'm not trying to say what she should look like.
I also think some of the issue is the scales--shrinking someone down to a holographic projection causes some odd sensations of distortion when we're looking at Cortana and the Infinity crew. Or maybe it's just her knees.

It'd be interesting to compare her to different art ideals. Odd knees aside she's definitely got an odalisque complex.
Still wondering what the goal of making her opaque was, though. They've talked a lot about her personality and that aspect of the story, but considering how the fiction sets up appearance to be a really defining aspect of the AI we haven't heard much about it. Then again I guess some of the treatment is just the graphics as usual.
